1 Duologue from The Wizard of OZ Dorothy Where am I? What has happened to me? Good Witch Welcome to the land of the Munchkins. We are grateful to you for having killed the Wicked Witch of the East and setting our people free form bondage. Dorothy You are very kind but there must be some mistake, I have not killed anything. Good Witch Your house did when it landed, see, there are her two feet sticking out from under a block of wood. Dorothy Oh dear! The house must ve fallen on her. Whatever shall we do? Good Witch There s nothing to be done now. We are pleased that this wicked witch will no longer make the Munchkins her slaves. Dorothy Who are the Munchkins? Are you one of them? Good Witch The Munchkins are the little people who live in the land of Oz. When they saw that the Wicked Witch of the East was dead, they sent for me and I came at once. I am the Witch of the North. Dorothy Oh gracious! Are you a real witch? Good Witch yes indeed! I am a good witch but I am not as powerful as this one was. Dorothy Look! Her feet have shrivelled up but her pretty sparkly shoes are still there. And there you are too Toto, I nearly forgot about you. Good Witch The sparkly shoes are yours now Dorothy, try them on. See they fit you, they have special powers and will keep you safe. Dorothy This is all very strange, you seem to know so much about me. Auntie Em will be worried if I don t get home soon. this must be a long way from Kansas. How can I find my way home? Good Witch You must go and ask the Good Wizard of Oz to help you. Dorothy How can I get there? Good Witch Follow the yellow brick road to the Emerald City, where the Wizard lives. Dorothy Won t you come with me? Good Witch No I cannot do that, but I will give you my kiss, and no one will dare injure a person who has been kissed by the Witch of the North. Dorothy Thank you, it s been so good to meet you. Well now I have my sparkly shoes, my best friend Toto and the kiss of the Witch of the North. All I have to do now, is find the Wizard of Oz and ask him to take me back to Kansas. Goodbye, goodbye everyone. Good Witch Just follow the yellow Brick Road Dorothy goodbye my dear.
2 Doulogue from Pippi Longstocking Teacher Welcome to school, I hope that you will be happy here and learn a great deal about all sorts of things. Pippi To be sure I hope I ll get the Christmas holidays, cause that s why I came! Teacher If you tell me your full name, I ll enrol you in school. Pippi- my name is Pippalotta Provisiona Gaberdina Dandeliona Ephramedaughter Longstocking. Pippi is my nickname because my father thought that Pippalotta was too long to say! Teacher Well then we shall call you Pippi too. Have you ever been to a school before? Pippi No not at all, my father is a sea captain and we ve travelled all around the world. Teacher Well we had better see what you know then haven t we? You re quite a big girl so you probably know a lot. Let s start with arithmetic. Can you tell me how much seven and five make? Pippi Well if you don t know, I don t think I m going to work it out for you! Teacher Excuse me, that s not the way to talk to the teacher and you will call me Ma am not you! Pippi Oh I m awful sorry, I didn t know that, I won t do it again. Teacher I should hope not. Anyway, 7 and 5 make 12. Now what about 8 and 4? Pippi Spose it s about 84 Teacher No not 84 8 and 4 makes 12 Pippi That can t be right ma am, you just said that 7 and 5 makes 12 there ought to be some sort of order you know! Teacher Err alright enough arithmetic for now. I m going to show you something interesting. This is a picture of an island and this is the letter that the word Island starts with (draws on a board) Pippi It looks to me like a short line with the flyspeck above it. I d like to know what islands and fly specks have to do with each other? Teacher The letter is I and this one is S it makes a sssss sound like snake Pippi Snakes! I remember snakes very well. I ll never forget the time I fought with a giant snake in India. It was 14 yards long and as angry as a Bee. It started winding it s self around me and hissing but I just hit it on the head a couple of times and he fell down dead! So that s the S for snake yes very interesting!

Lisa I don t know. It does have its advantages. Cathy It wouldn t suit me. Lisa No. Me neither. Cathy She writes a lot in her journal. I guess that s kind of like talking. Lisa I wonder what she writes. Cathy Her feelings I suppose. It can t be easy for her being dumped in this boarding school in her condition. Lisa No and with her father going to prison for what he did sorry! Not supposed to mention that to anyone are we? But you know what I mean. Cathy Yes. Well, she doesn t want us to pity her. I just wish some of the girls would treat her like a normal person. Lisa Here she comes. Probably looking for a journal. See you later.
5 Duologue from Deltora Quest Barda I believe that this is the path to Wen Del and the shortest way to the forest. The turning fits the description I was given, but there should be a signpost and I can t see one. Lief It is here. Someone has pushed it over to keep the way secret perhaps someone has tried to save other travellers from the dangers along the path. Barda No I have no doubt the sign was not pushed over to hide the way, but to hide the warning. This path will save us a day and a half if we take it, but it could be very dangerous. Lief You do not have to guard my safety any longer Barda. This shortcut is too precious to waste. We are well prepared for trouble now and we watch for dangerous we go. Barda very well if, as you wish. (They walk cautiously and watch) Lief I can t believe how still and silent it is not even a rustle of leaves. Barda Hmmm not so silent can you hear that? Lief nooo. Ahh yes now I can what is it? Like a low hum? (look around) Barda Did you see a pair of red eyes watching us? Lief Yes. There is another pair. Red eyes everywhere. What do they want? Barda Draw your sword, but keep walking. Look to the front and be ready. Lief What are they? What are they waiting for? Barda That humming is getting louder. My ears are ringing Lief Will have - to -mrun Barda Legs won t - work Lief can t - go any - further
