3 First Things First 1st Block ELA, Math, Science or Social Studies 2nd Block ELA, Math, Science, or Social Studies 3rd Block ELA, Math, Science, or Social Studies LUNCH + ACTIVITY TIME 4th Block Related Arts Related Arts are similar to specials 5 minutes in between classes A/B day for related arts (unless you are in band!). You will rotate classes depending on which day it is You need to be in your seat ready to start your day at 8:45 You are dismissed to go home at 3:50

6 Hallway Etiquette Keep your hands to yourself. Our hallways are crowded and issues can easily happen when you are playing around Remember your manners. Saying Excuse me and I m sorry can go a long way! Talking to your friends doesn t equal shouting or screaming. Walk to classes. Running causes accidents and people get hurt! Follow the directions with traffic flow. We walk on certain sides of the hallway and around the pit area.

7 Dress Code Keep covered up! No bellies, backs, or underwear should be showing. Tanks tops are permitted as long as the straps are 3 fingers wide. No low cut or see through shirts. Shorts must be no shorter than four inches (4 ) above the knee. Shoes are to be worn at all times. No high heels or slippers. No skirts/dresses can be shorter than two inches (2 ) above the knee. No Leggings or Yoga Pants unless covered by appropriate clothing down to four inches. (4 ) above the knees. If you are not sure if it is appropriate it probably isn t! Bring a change of clothes just in case. You don t want to miss class because of dress code.

8 Do Your Work You are expected to complete your work, all of it, every time. Homework and classwork! If you don t do your work, you will get a zero. It is impossible to pass a class if you have a ton of zeroes from missing work. Ask for help if you need it! All teachers offer tutoring times before or after school. Talk with your teacher or send them an asking for help. Check teachers websites often to keep up on assignments and look for upcoming test/project dates. If you have a question, ask! You can get on powerschool and check your grades. Do so often! If you are absent, it is your responsibility to figure out what you missed. Your teachers have 100 students a day, they will not remember you were absent. Ask a friend, get on the website, check the bulletin board, etc.

10 Locks and Lockers You will buy a lock from PRMS for $5. You must have a school lock. Everyone will get a locker but you may have to share. Lockers are small. Don t plan on a huge bookbag or lots of extra stuff you don t need! It takes 6th grade students usually a week or two to master opening a lock. Try not to stress or be nervous-you will learn it! Buy your lock early, and practice at home!

11 Clubs and Extracurricular Activities Battle of the Books Chess Club Girls on Track Math 24 Robotics Sign Language Student Council Beta Club Band Cross Country Track Chorus Improv Musicals/Drama School dances Football Volleyball Cheerleading Basketball Soccer Baseball Softball Not all sports are open to 6th graders but you are always welcome to come and cheer on PRMS!

12 Chromebooks and Cell Phones You will have your own computer. There will be rules. Follow them! You may have your cell phone at school. They must be off and put away during the school day. Put them in your locker. If you have your phone out during the day, it will get taken and your parent will come pick it up. Your school is for school use only. Do not use it to talk about anything else! Take care of your chromebook. It is very hard to keep up with school work if it is lost, not charged, or broken. It is a big responsibility to have a computer. Ask for help when you need it.

13 If You See Something; Say Something There are many people in middle school that are here to help Teachers Counselors Administrators Security Staff Front Office Staff Rules are designed to keep you safe, if you see or hear something that makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, please tell an adult immediately Remember, there is a difference between telling and tattling Middle school is a time of HUGE change! There is a lot to struggle with. Gossip/rumors Friendships Peer pressure School stress Don t suffer in silence. Reach out to the adults you are closest to for help. PRMS staff cares about you and wants you to be successful. We are excited you are coming next year!
