Be punctual. You must be in the room by the tardy bell, or you will be swept and receive a tardy. Wear your ID badge. Have your supplies. Pencil/pen Binder & spiral Class novel (if applicable) AR book Planner Turn in homework if it is due. Copy homework & begin warm-up.
Ask politely to borrow from a friend. Make sure you return them at the end of class to the person. OR Borrow missing items from the table by the file cabinets. Return what you borrow at the end of class. Frequently forgetting and borrowing will earn a reputation.
To get my attention: Raise your hand quietly & wait to be acknowledged. Please make sure your question is relevant to what is being discussed at the time. To get your attention: I will hold up my hand & wait for you to listen.
Please wait until I have finished giving instructions or making an announcement. If you need to go to your locker or use the restroom during class: Take out your Hall/Restroom Pass. Raise your hand with the pass. I will sign it. Go quickly & quietly to take care of your business. Return quietly to the room & your seat. You will be able to use your pass six (6) times during a 9-week grading period.
Sharpen pencils: before class starts during the 5 minute break during independent work time You may get a tissue any time, as long as you are quick & quiet.
Your help to keep our classroom clean is GREATLY appreciated! Throw away trash: before or after class during the 5 minute break during independent work time.
Raise your hand & wait quietly. Share your thought loudly enough for the whole class to hear. Keep other comments to yourself. Be polite, and do not interrupt others. Listen to your classmates responses.
I will usually assign your groups/partners. Give thoughtful feedback. Respect others thoughts. On topic & on task Use a soft voice. Participate! Stay with your group.
You can earn these in a variety of ways. For example: Following rules Participating in class Kindness It s your birthday! (2) Extra AR points (1 for every 5 points beyond required number) See others on the cabinet door.
1 st time- warning This is your chance to correct your behavior. 2 nd time- sign the behavior log After your third time to sign the behavior log, your parent will be contacted. After parent contact, an office referral will result. Your conduct grade for this class is based on how many times you have signed the log.
All work should be turned in to your class basket on the big table unless I instruct otherwise. Make sure you have a full heading on your paper. First & Last Name Worsham RELA 6-class period 8/25/15
Bring your AR book to class every day. If you finish an assignment with time to spare, read your book. 20 AR points are due each grading period. AR is a summative grade. You may take AR tests: Before school as long as I am in the room At tutoring During class IF you have finished your independent work
If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make up any work, quizzes, or tests you miss. Check the red Make Up Work box on the big table. If you don t see anything, ASK before or after class. Return completed work according to RMS absent work policy. Missed quizzes or tests should be taken at tutoring.
Mondays & Wednesdays 7:45-8:20 am Please come to tutoring knowing what you need to do or with what you need additional assistance. Review Re-teaching Make up quiz/test AR test Be sure to sign the Tutoring Log.
You may borrow a book from my classroom library. Check it out using the spiral labeled Classroom Library Sign-Out on the shelf. Cross it off the list when you return it. YOU must check to see if it is an AR book!
I will give you the last 4-5 minutes of class to clean & pack up. Area must be clean & neat. I dismiss the class, not the bell. If you are tardy to your next class, it is your responsibility unless you are given a pass by your teacher.
By following these procedures, you will exhibit respect for: Your teacher Your classmates Yourself
