Whitted notes that Hugh Whitted, another researcher, says that there were 15 children in this family, 10 male, and 5 female. Sidney is Hugh's ancestor. The Evancos list 9 children in this family, naming only Sidney, as the 9th child. They also have a note about Sidney: "A mystery remains as to the parentage of Sidney Whitted. One family genealogist suggests that his father was 'James Whitted' (born ca. 1783). Another source suggests that Sidney Whitted was a son of Thomas Whitted Jr. (born ).
