Whitlock is living with family of Amanda Whitlock at age 77. Prior to this Samuel was living close to John and Amanda Whitlock and William and Elizabeth Whitlock. It is possible that Samuel is the father of John J. Whitlock and William Whitlock. At least three persons have the middle name James. In the Goochland census of 1850, 1860, and 1870 there is a family of William N. Whitlock and Elizabeth. In 1870 they have named their last child John J. Whitlock.
