1 Badminton (Level 3) - Skills As you progress through your badminton block you will be working hard to improve your performance. Think about your practical performance and consider your ability to do the following things: I can demonstrate a variety of shots I can side step to rear court shots I can demonstrate improved shot accuracy I am developing basic tactical awareness in singles I can participate in half court and full court games I can move my opponent around the court I stand side-on when playing overhead shots I can use agile movements throughout a game I can respond quickly to my opponents shot I can return quickly to the ready position/base Judge where you are at the moment by reading the following Green Light this means you are able to carry out the above statements most of the time. Amber Light this means you are able to carry out the above statements some of the time although some take a lot of effort and practice. Red Light this means you find it difficult to carry out most of the statements listed above.
2 Games (Level 3) - Skills (Basketball, Football, Rugby, Hockey) As you progress through your games blocks you will be working hard to improve your performance. Think about your practical performance and consider your ability to do the following things: I can demonstrate a variety of passing techniques I can use the appropriate technique when required I can adapt my play in relation to others around me I can demonstrate control, change of direction and change of pace I can demonstrate a variety of shooting techniques I can use the appropriate technique when required I can adapt my play in relation to others around me I can demonstrate attacking and defensive footwork I can move into space and create space for myself I can create space for team mates I can close down opponents I can demonstrate an awareness of man to man marking I can apply shooting skills in a game. I have an understanding of the fitness requirements for playing a game. I understand the important features of various positions and I can fulfill several roles within the game. I am developing basic tactical awareness within the game Judge where you are at the moment by reading the following descriptions and deciding which best describes you: Green Light this means you are able to carry out the above statements most of the time. Amber Light this means you are able to carry out the above statements some of the time although some take a lot of effort and practice. Red Light this means you find it difficult to carry out most of the statements listed above.
3 Gymnastics (Level 3) - Skills As you progress through your gymnastics block you will be working hard to improve your performance. Think about your practical performance and consider your ability to do the following things: Working on the Floor I can; Roll forwards/backwards/sideways Balance (1,2,3 point/seated/ 3 seconds) Turning (1/4/1/2 full turns) Flight (1-2/2-1/1-1/2-2 foot take off and landing) Jumping/Shapes/Turns - using a spring board Invert (Headstand (tuck &full) shoulder stand/handstand) Link floor work skills (sequence) I can continue to use basic skills to produce an individual or group sequence on the floor and on apparatus I can perform basic sequence work showing quality of movement, fluency and control I can perform more complex floor/apparatus skills such as vaulting I understand the physical demands required to perform both basic and complex skills. 4 Softball (Level 3) - Skills As you progress through your softball block you will be working hard to improve your performance. Think about your practical performance and consider your ability to do the following things: I can throw the ball using over arm and underarm techniques I can roll the ball I can use the appropriate technique when required I can adapt my play in relation to others around me I can demonstrate: control change of direction change of pace I can demonstrate the pickup of a rolling ball. I can move quickly towards the ball instead of waiting for it to come to me I can demonstrate basic catching techniques: Cupping Overhead cupping Use of mitt I can use the appropriate technique when required. I can demonstrate an underarm pitch/bowl I can hit a moving ball I recognise the effect playing a game of softball has on my overall fitness level. I can consistently execute skills (throwing, catching, striking and running) effectively in a game situation. Judge where you are at the moment by reading the following descriptions and deciding which best describes you: Green Light this means you are able to carry out the above statements most of the time. Amber Light this means you are able to carry out the above statements some of the time although some take a lot of effort and practice. 5 Dance (Level 3) - Skills As you progress through your dance block you will be working hard to improve your performance. Think about your practical performance and consider your ability to do the following things: I can move in time to different styles of music with fluency and efficiency I can move to a wide variety of rhythms and can do this in several dance styles I can demonstrate competence in a number of different styles of dance I can use choreographic devices to create my own piece of dance in at least 1 style of dance I can perform to my peers and a wider audience with confidence Judge where you are at the moment by reading the following Green Light this means you are able to carry out the above statements most of the time Amber Light this means you are able to carry out the above statements some of the time although some take a lot of effort and practice. Red Light this means you find it difficult to carry out most of the statements listed above.
6 Swimming (Level 3) Skills As you progress through your swimming block you will be working hard to improve your performance. Think about your practical performance and consider your ability to do the following things: I can perform a push and glide in a streamlined position for 5 meters. I can kick continuously throughout the front crawl, back crawl and breast stroke or whilst using an aid. I can perform effective arm pull technique for all strokes I can breathe to the side and use correct breathing technique for each full stroke. Judge where you are at the moment by reading the following Green Light this means you are able to carry out the above statements most of the time. Amber Light this means you are able to carry out the above statements some of the time although some take a lot of effort and practice. Red Light this means you find it difficult to carry out most of the statements listed above.
7 Badminton (Level 3) Cooperating & Competing As you progress through your badminton block you will be working hard to improve your ability to cooperate and compete. Think about your ability to do the following things: I can take responsibility for setting up court/ equipment. I can experience/participate in different forms of competition ladder, round robin, knock out, move up/down court etc I can understand and follow the rules in half and full court singles. I can understand game rules and etiquette (informal and formal) and recognise the need to follow it. I can understand and demonstrate tactics within half and full court singles. I can recognise strengths and weakness when playing a partner. I can resolve disputes by using lets and replaying points. Badminton (Level 3) Evaluating & Appreciating As you progress through your badminton block you will also be working hard to improve your ability to evaluate and appreciate. Think about your ability to do the following things: I can demonstrate an awareness of health and safety issues I can use verbal, visual, written and kinaesthetic feedback to evaluate my performance Judge where you are at the moment for each by reading the following Green Light this means you are able to carry out the above statements most of the time.
