2 YEAR 9 SUBJECT INFORMATION This booklet provides you with information on the Curriculum to be offered at Karamu High School in The New Zealand Curriculum, that all schools are required to offer requires students to study each of the following seven Essential Learning Areas. English Mathematics Science Social Studies Physical Education and Health Technology The Arts In addition it is recommend that students also study a Language. Karamu High School offers both Japanese and Te Reo Maori. It is part of Karamu High School s Policy that all students will study Oral Communication for one term. This study provides essential communication skills for life. Full details are on the following pages
3 YEAR 9 CURRICULUM STRUCTURE Students at take all the Compulsory subjects and choose eight Option Subjects from the list below.
