2 Online application form So that you know what s coming up and can have all the necessary information to hand, we ll give you over the next few pages an overview of what you ll need in order to complete your application form. Please read carefully the Who we look for section, where we point out the minimum requirements you must fulfill before you can apply for the programme. We recommend you to prepare the required application form components before starting the online application form, because without them, you ll not be able to advance in your application. 3 Who we look for Our Associates have on average 7 years of work experience and to apply you must have at least two years of full-time, paid work experience. We ll happily consider you whether you have five years experience or fifteen: above all, we look for people with an inspiring track record of achievement, be it personal, professional or academic. You will also need to have a valid work permit for the UK prior to applying for the programme, as we re not able to sponsor visas for the Associate Programme. For more information please visit browse/visas-immigration/work-visas Throughout the assessment process, you ll be asked to demonstrate: Motivation and persistence: the ability to turn ideas into reality and seize opportunities. To challenge yourself to set goals and to know when to compromise or to involve others. Interpersonal skills: convincing, bringing in and inspiring others, whilst also dealing with conflict effectively and sensitively. Attitudes and mindsets: retaining high expectations, an open mind and an eagerness for new experiences; being pragmatic, self-sufficient and comfortable with changing situations; ability to articulate your commitment to work in the social enterprise space. Problem solving: structuring and breaking down complex problems into sovlable elements, whilst not losing sight of the big picture; being comfortable with quantitative analysis and mental arithmetic. 03

5 01 Your CV (to attach up to 2MB) We recommend that you add facts to your CV. For example, rather than saying: Managed team that surveyed all our clients, say: Managed a team of two that surveyed all our clients (over 500). 02 Your cover letter (copy and paste text into form) Your cover letter should be specific to your On Purpose application and clearly outline your motivations to be part of the programme. Please limit it to 300 words only. 03 Your video clip Please send us a 1 min video that introduces your application. Please refer to the next section, where we ll explain in more detail what the video is about. 05

6 Your video The following guidelines will help you to create your video and will clarify its purpose: Please send us a 1 min video that introduces your application. As well as this being a part of our assessment, we will, if you become an Associate share this video with the placement hosts during the matching process, so that they can get a feel for who the Associates are. You can record it via a webcam (see YouTube or Facebook how-to pages for guidance) or on a mobile phone (or any other digital video recorder, of course). Do make sure that the sound is good enough to make it easy to hear what you are saying (choose a quiet room to do it in). Remember, this shouldn t take long to prepare (although you may find it easier to write down what you re going to say beforehand); we are firmly interested in substance over style and it certainly doesn t need to be edited, or have any kind of animations, graphics, or titles. The following instructions will step you through how to upload your video: Log in to YouTube (or create a new YouTube account; if you have a Gmail account you can use that to log in) Click Upload on the top right of the page, just to the left of your address-enter a new name for your Channel and the other data asked for then click next Set the privacy settings as you like and click finish Now click again on Upload at the top right of the page Select whether to upload a file from your computer or record from your webcam Once you have uploaded your video, you need to edit a couple of things: Rename the video according to this convention: Video_Firstname_Surname. Set the Privacy settings to Unlisted (only people with link can view) ; make sure you copy the link it provides to you! Then, lastly, copy-paste that URL into the question box Have a look at the video Chris made for his application. 06
