2 Tips To Design a Product 1. Firstly it s very important understand the questionanalyze what is asked and what is supposed to be done as per the specifications that are being given. 2. Think of innovative and the ideas that are not known or are new to the world, also, at the same time keep in mind the feasibility of the idea, idea that make relevance with the real life. 3. When it comes to the drawing part keep in mind the following things: Details: Keep in mind the small-small details for example draw the zipper of a bag neatly and detail it well with all seams and textures. Also detail all the necessary/important elements of a product. Specifications: follow the specifications that are given in a brief/question and try to draw a parallel between the specifications and your own innovation. For example do not change the size of a pencil to design something new unless asked. Explainations: Expalin your concept in a few crisp words. Use pointers instead of paragraphs. Keep the handwriting

3 clean and readable(may work with block capitals).highlight the main keywords. View of the Drawings: Keeping in mind the perspective while drawing a product is mandatory. Draw all the products in a view so that it shows most of the details. For examples for a hair dryer try to use ant eye view to give a close up view of the front opening. Also draw different views of a same product like top, side, bottom, 3/4th etc. the different views can be just drawn and may not be rendered but render at least one view to show the aesthetics and colour details. Also draw complimentary articles to show the correct proportion of the product like draw a man with the chair to show the relevant size of the chair Labeling: Label all the parts and components within the space provided for drawing. Use standard or any other nice font that goes with the theme or the kind of product. DO NOT use rough/basic handwriting. Do not scribble, litter, overwrite etc. Also do not write out of the space provided. Colouring: Colouring is a key feature of drawing a product. Not necessary to colour all the view only one or two main views could be coloured. Choose a colour scheme and do not run for more and more colours. Also to make your product look interesting you can also give colour palette as per the theme, market or season.

6 Tips To Design Mascots A mascot is essentially a well designed cartoon character with strong connection to the company it represents. The following elaborates on qualities of a good mascot things to aim for. Give the mascot personality, style and way of doing things that reflect the best things the company stands for. Colour palette-connection would help as well. Background story. Giving a mascot a story makes all future decisions easier as we know WHO he/she/it is. Explain the same through a writeup of a few sentences or as per the specifications. Appeal. A live-action actor has charisma, animated character has appeal. With people charisma means a lot more than just cute or handsome, and so it is with cartoon characters, too. There appeal stands for simplicity, pleasing design and charm/magnetism. Why these give appeal? Simple is both easier to read and communicates better than complex. Pleasing design means good forms and it doesn t always mean they are pretty, more like well drawn and stylised. What visual style is effective varies from character to character, but one overall solid trick is exaggeration in dimensions and characteristics. Colouring: colouring a mascot is as important as drawing it. The colours should be chosen carefully and should sink with the given theme.

8 Tips To Draw Compositions Composition drawing is basically the way of representation and visualization of a scene, composition of objects, landscape etc. Keep in mind the following things while drawing a composition: 1. Details: try and make it possible to show all the necessary details ranging from minor to major ones. For examples: Posters on walls, dustbins, hoardings, birds, dogs, leaves lying on ground, speakers, pens on table, details of packaged products. Etc. 2. Colouring: Colouring a composition completely depends upon the given brief or directions, usually the compositions are being done in line drawing and judged on the basis of line quality, details etc. hence it s not necessary to colour unless asked. While drawing scenes like floods, road accidents you may highlight the important elements using selected colours. Also, if asked to colour then try not to use more and more colours, limit your colour story to balance your composition.

9 3. Neatness: Neatness is a major factor while doing anything and everything. Try to improve line quality, use lesser but confident strokes. Do not over erase or over scribble. 4. Proportion: It is one of the basis to judge a composition, proportionate composition is a sign of being observant about things. Try to finish the basic bigger elements first and the smaller ones later. Also, judge the relevant proportion with the help of perspective like how far or near the object is placed with reference to the vanishing point, hence draw accordingly. 5. Perspective: to inculcate the knowledge of perspective is extremely important. Choose the viewpoint and draw the basic perspective frame of a composition so that the rest of the things fall in place automatically. Try avoiding minor errors like not writing the text in perspective. Also, draw the f oreground objects first then move on to the background.

11 7. STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD Tips To Design Postcards All great postcards have three things in common. They are visually appealing, memorable and go straight to the point. 2. COLOUR CREATES VISUAL INTEREST Ensure colour is used carefully and intelligently throughout your postcard design. The design should represent the theme clearly - including colours, logo and other details 3. DRAW/ DOODLE WHERE RELEVANT If appropriate for your message, display goods or store front on your postcards if doing for a brand/ organization. Visuals work to help people establish a real relationship with your postcard 4. DISPLAY THE LOGO PROMINENTLY Logos and emblems are central to the brand identity. Ensure it is well placed to gain attention and also to balance space. 5. KEEP IT SIMPLE AND DIRECT It is important to minimise postcard text to just the essentials. Don t clutter your postcard with lots of extra detail. Keep copy to a minimum - recipients should be motivated to contact you for additional information. 6. A CLEAN COMPOSITION WORKS BEST A simple message will be easier to communicate effectively. Avoid visual clutter. Ensure the visual tone of your postcard is well matched to your target audience. A well designed postcard is visually balanced, attracts attention and is easy to read.

Instructions, directions etc. Ingredients, composition etc. LOGO, emblems. Etc. Name of the firm/ org/ company etc. Colouring is mandatory.
