7 Rules & Regulations 7 The 1st European Students Championship 1. European Draughts Confederation (EDC) and Polish Draughts Federation organizes the 1st European Students Championship. 2. The tournament will take place in Warsaw, Poland from 14 to 20 September Only the players of the national Federations affiliated to the FMJD can participate. EDC has a right to invite some players from new countries (never been members of FMJD). 4. The following 2 championships will be played (separately for boys and girls) Students boys players born after 1st of January Students girls players born after 1st of January There is no limit to number of players from one federation. 6. The players must be students (university, college). The players must have the citizenship of the Federation they represent or be members of this federation according to FMDJ rules. 7. Each federations should deliver to EDC BEFORE July 15th the list of players with full name, surname, date of birth. In case of any problems the Federation should contact EDC directly. 8. Before the beginning of the tournament a preliminary meeting will be held by the Chief Referee who will expound the present regulations to players, directors and journalists. 9. Depending on the Chief Referee decision swiss or round robin tournaments will be played. Time control 1 hour 20 minutes + 1 minute for each move (fisher system) 10. There is NO Barrages! 11. On the last day of the competition the Blitz Championship will be played (time control 5 minutes). Details will be announced by a Chief Referee. 12. Prizes: medals in each group cups in each group diploma for all participants 13. Financial conditions Inscription fee 40 euro for the 1 st player from federation in group and 10 euro for 2 nd and 3 rd euro for each player in blitz championship Fee has to be paid BEFORE the competition 13.4 Accommodation and food will be held in Student hostel Babilon, Warsaw, 12/16 Kopinska street 13.5 Cost of 1 day of food and accommodation is 70 PLN (about 20 ) per player 13.6 Organizers cover all hospitality cost for 1 player from each Federation 14. Tournament will be played at Studium Wychowania Fizycznego i Sportu of Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw, 12a Warynskiego street (Riviera building) 15. Team Championship st place 7 points, 2nd place 5 points, 3rd place 4 points, 4th place 3 points, 5th place 2 points, 6th place 1 point If the number of points is equal: number of 1st place, 2nd,.. decide 16. 8 The 1 st European Students Championship 8 blitz This regulation developed especially for 1 st European Students Championship Blitz by the Chief Referee according point 11 of Regulation of 1 st European Students Championship and based on FMJD rules (Annex VI Rapid and Blitz games ). 1. Time control The 1 st European Students Championship blitz will be played with 5 minutes per player for each game. 2. The draw agreement When the players do not record the games the 40 moves rule is not valid. The players may agree upon a draw only if the number of men for each player is 10 or less. 3. Rights of the players Any player wishing to call the referee for assistance has the right to stop the clocks while his complaint is being considered (contrary to Annex III article 4.4). Any player who wishes to claim a regulatory draw (see Annex I article 6) may do so. The referee will decide if the claim is correct and if so he will end the game. 4. Rights and duties for the referee If the playing time is expired, the referee will end the game declaring the game lost for the player who exceeded the allotted time. 5. Regulation-draw During blitz games, unless the game has an obvious continuation, the end game with one king against three or less kings is not played and is called a regulation draw. 6. Time Shortage In blitz games, any player who has one minute or less left on his clock, in the endgame phase with a maximum of 8 pieces total for white and black, has the right to claim a draw if his position is clearly superior. 7. «Russian» king King may be made by turning up-side down the piece.
