The following information is designed to provide knowledge of the product procedures that are required to get Protec 21 operational for the New User. The Quikstart exercise will cover the main Parts of the program in order to generate an accurate Player Analysis Report and should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Protec 21 is a Casino Surveillance Management tool for the game of Blackjack that primarily measures the Threat Level to the House from customer Betting and Playing Styles. A Card Shuffle Design and Analysis Module is also included. To briefly summarise, Protec 21 requires the following information to be input by the User for analysis: Player(s) Bet size per Round. Card values per Round. This data is then measured against the House Blackjack Rule Set to accurately determine the Threat Status and other Player Tracking information. Rule Set: is the configuration for your 21 game that is used to calculate the House Advantage ie: 6 Decks, Double on any 2 cards, Double after split, Threat Threshold Settings, etc. 5

The Program Modules within Protec 21 are: 1. Data Collection: Bet size and Card flow per Round is entered into the program via the: Keyboard or NumPad, Mouse, TouchScreen or Voice Recognition - or use a combination. The data is entered into a pre-selected input module: Video (Live): Access to CCTV on screen. Less input needed for quicker and easier Data Collection. Cards and Bet size can be entered in any order throughout the Round. Betting Style Report only available. Non-video (Archive): Requires precise input on a screen simulated table display but will output maximum information. Ability to Date Stamp older data and Pause Play for easy input. Multiple Players, Bets, Cards and Playing Strategy is entered in correct order for total analysis. Generates both Betting and Playing Style Reports. The Player Identity or generated ID serial number is also included for input but can be edited from the database at a later stage. 2. Graphs and Reports: Easy to read Graphs clearly show if there is any correlation between Betting patterns and the Card Advantage flow. Allows the flexibility to create any Card Counting System, Advantage Algorithm or Wagering Display that is not already pre-set. A comprehensive set of Graphs and Reports of the analysis outcome are generated for hard copy assessment. 3. Card Shuffle Design and Analysis: For use in designing and analysing any Card Shuffle procedure. Before and After Stacks are visually displayed for colour cross-reference analysis. Printouts highlight segments of interest. 6

Most of the program settings need only be applied once (possibly at installation) and therefore may already have been implemented for your current gaming operations. Protec 21 will also need to be free of Password protection in order to fully complete the Quikstart - New User Guide. Password protection is an optional tool to control unauthorised adjustment of program settings. A Password is required to create or edit a Rule Set or Shuffle. Click on the Protec 21 icon. The opening screen will show a Button Bar and Menu List across the top of your viewing monitor: An overview of the Menu and Button Bar in brief, The Microsoft Calculator is easily available for assistance. The Headset Button activates the Dragon Dictate Integrated Voice Recognition Software. A comprehensive Help system is available within to set up a User Voice Profile. Main usage: Optional input method for Data Collection. On-Line Help: For more detailed Product Information and Instructions. The following exercise Parts are given as a Basic Guide for the New User through each procedure in order to generate an accurate Player Assessment and Report. Once this has been familiarised you should find the program flexible in many areas to provide a wide variety of uses and benefits in overall casino Player evaluation. DigitAce Systems 7

Part 1 Protec 21 needs to have a User Identity (Yourself) to input the data and a destination identity (Player) to store the data against. This could be a generated file number if the suspect identity is not known that can be later edited, cross-linked or deleted. For the Quikstart exercise we will create a User ID and two (2) Sample Players for use in the other Parts of the exercise. Click on the Personnel Button: The Players Identity TAB is prompted. Select New to open a new file. Under Surname type: BJQ1 Click on Apply. Select New to open another new file. Under Surname type: BJQ2 Click on Apply 8

Highlight the Employees TAB: Fill out all the fields for yourself, ensuring that Surveillance Operator is selected from the Position field (to be listed with other program Users.) Click on Apply when completed. You have now created a valid Protec 21 User ID. Click on Get or scroll with the Arrow Buttons to search through the Personnel Information database. Click on Update prior to editing any file information. A quick access is also available to add brief information for a New User when entering the Data Collection Module. Click on Apply, then Click on OK to return to the main screen. 9

Part 2. The Rule Set covers the individual Blackjack game procedures that are used to calculate the House Advantage and Threat Threshold Settings. It is also used for game flow logic within the Data Collection Modules. Most properties may only require one Rule Set to cover their entire Blackjack operation. Others may require two or more Rule Sets for different Pits/Tables playing different games ie: 2 Deck and 6 Deck. It is important to have a different Rule Set for each game so as the correct House Advantage and Threat Level is measured accurately against the Player at each game session. Equally important is to not alter or overwrite older Rule Sets once they have been used in play. Player Reports may not display older data correctly. It is better to create a new Rule Set to cover the new rule change. A Warning Message will be displayed before overwriting: To create accurate Player Reports and Assessments it is important to have the correct settings selected for each Rule Set. These being: Number of decks, House Advantage, Threat Threshold. For the Quikstart exercise we will create a new Rule Set: Quikstart 21 (.rul) to use within the Data Collection Modules. Click on the Rule Set Button: File name: Quikstart 21.rul Click on Open 10

Click on Yes to create the new Rule Set file. A Configure Rule Set dialog box will open with the General TAB prompted. Fill in the front General page as shown below: Rule Set Filename: Quikstart 21 Leave Unticked. 2 Decks in Shoe Change to 0.12% After completing the Rule Set TABS configuration Protec 21 should calculate the House edge to display: 0.12%. Tick and Change to the same value as the calculated Advantage: 0.12% DO NOT Tick to set this rule set as default. It will then become the prompted Rule Set for use during normal gaming operations when opening the Data Collection Modules. Scroll through each of the category TABS and select and indicate the game rule procedures as described for the new Rule Set. 11

Quikstart 21.rul Configuration. Split All pairs to make 3 Hands only. After Splitting complete the 1st Hand before the 2 nd Hand receives a 2 nd Card. Double Down on any 2 cards Double after Splitting. Dealer Stands on Soft 17 Player is offered the Insurance option. Hole Card Dealt and Checked. Over 21 Loses. No Surrender offered. Blackjack pays 3/2 Blackjack Ties Breakeven Dealer Blackjack takes original bet only. 12

Ties Breakeven. No Multi-card bonus rules offered. Counter Rating: Tracker Rating: Session Rating: 0 1 Click on View Summary and it should read as follows: Click on OK to save the Rule Set and return to the main screen. 13

Threat Thresholds: The Threshold Settings are the Minimum and Maximum levels of tolerance accepted before Player Threat Warnings are issued. The input values for each Rule Set should be co-related to the House Advantage calculation and raised or lowered accordingly. Activity considered non-threatening in a 6 deck game could be Highly Threatening in a 2 deck game! DigitAce Systems recommended Threat Threshold Settings: Rating Settings House Counter Rating Tracker Rating Session Rating Advantage Minimum Maximum Minimum Maximum Minimum Maximum Less than 0.1% % % % % % % % % % % % % % % % % Above 0.63% Table: RTS1. The Rule Set - Quikstart 21.rul has a House Advantage of: 0.12%. From the above Table: RTS1 we can calculate the Threshold Settings to be set at: Quikstart 21 Counter Rating Tracker Rating Session Rating House Advantage Minimum Maximum Minimum Maximum Minimum Maximum 0.12%

Ratings Criteria: For the Counter Rating and Tracker Rating to be activated there needs to be at least 2 suitable Shoes of data collected in the session. Once the data has qualified representative then all of the session data is measured together, irrespective of whether or not all Shoes qualify. Counter Rating: For a Shoe to be considered representative it must have at least: 2 Rounds where the Advantage is Positive and 2 Rounds where the Advantage is Negative. Tracker Rating: For a Shoe to be considered representative it must have at least: 2 Rounds where the Advantage is Rising and 2 Rounds where the Advantage is Falling. Session Rating: The Session Rating will always give a measurement reading. It displays the calculation from the Player Analysis EV algorithm that is used. For normal gaming purposes this is set using: EV (Actual Advantage) It displays the expected % value on turnover for any number of hands irrespective of whether the data qualifies for a Counter or Tracker Rating. A single hand can be measured and valued by the Session Rating. Other EV algorithms should only be temporarily used for information purposes. The Session Rating should always have a Minimum Setting of 0 (zero) and a Maximum of 1 (One). Zero (0) is the Break-Even Point between the House and the Player where anything over Zero is a Player Advantage and is considered Threatening. A Maximum Setting of 1 (1%) Advantage in favour to the Player should be considered a High Level Threat. 15

Part 3. The Data Collection Module(s) is where the User enters the information to be analysed by the program. The data required for input is: Bet size per Round. Card values per Round. - and the player identity. A serial number can be generated and assigned at the end of the session if an identity is unknown. This information can be entered into the program via: Keyboard, NumPad, Mouse, TouchBar or Voice Recognition or use a comfortable combination of them all. There are 2 Data Collection Modules from which to choose from prior to input: Video (Live): Direct link to your CCTV System. Control Bar on the left side of screen allows for quicker and easier input. Bet size and Cards can be entered or altered in any order throughout the Round. Betting Analysis Report is only available from the LiveDCM. Non-video (Archive): Requires more input on a Simulated Screen display but gives maximum output information. Has the ability to Date Stamp and Pause Play. Multiple Players, Bets, Cards and Playing Strategy entered in correct order for total analysis - both Betting and Playing Style Reports available. The exercise is to enter two (2) Shoes of data from each module using the Quikstart 21 Rule Set to measure against the two created Quikstart Players. Click on the Collect Data Button: Select the correct User ID from the drop down list. Click on the Add User ID Button as a brief alternative for a New User to Configure Personnel. 16

Click on OK to display the Start Data Collection dialog box. Select, Data Entry Type: Video (Live) The program default Rule Set will be displayed Select Quikstart 21. Confirm that 2 decks will be used for play. Optional Input Player Identity now or at the completion of the session. Table and Pit Number can also be added for extra information. For the Quikstart exercise leave these fields blank and add the Player Identity at the completion of the session. Click on OK to enter the Live Data Collection Module. Your monitor may be showing live action feed from your CCTV system. An Error message will be displayed if there is a hardware problem. Refer to Technical Support. If there is a problem? Ensure Select VFW (Video for Windows) 17

Protec 21 does not require video link-up to function therefore if the Error message is displayed you can still complete the Quikstart exercise. The TouchBar or Voice Recognition Module may be configured to boot up automatically via Customise (Tools) preferences as shown in Part 5. On the left hand side of the viewing screen is displayed the Control Bar. The Bet field is initially highlighted in Red where the Player wager is input. The Cards field will be highlighted also in Red when it becomes active. Touch or Mouse Click on the Cards Button for inputting Card Values and Round Result. Revert to Cards or Bet input at anytime. The mobile Bet/Card field box can be Mouse dragged around the screen for a clearer visual reference of your data input. Click to Undo last input entries. 18

When the Overt Surveillance Button is depressed it underlines a section of the Graph from the Round it is depressed until the Round it is released. It can be used for informative purposes to highlight areas of interest: High-Betting? or Low-Betting whilst under Pit scrutiny? Click to display the Enter New Table Details Dialog Box. The Change Table Button is particularly useful if your property has Pits/Tables requiring different Rule Sets (ie: 2 Deck and 6 Deck games) If the monitored Player moves about then the drop down box will allow for quick Rule Set changes between Shoe sessions. Current advantage: This figure will move up and down and fluctuate per every card entered. A Player Advantage is instantly recognised displayed in RED For the first part of the Quikstart Data Collection exercise we will input 2 Shoes from the Video (Live) Data Collection Module analysing Player BJQ1. Then input 2 Shoes from the Non-video (Archive) mode analysing both Players. Review of the Reports will be in the next Part of the exercise. 19

Video (Live) Data Collection Module Cards can be input in any order throughout the Round although it is a good practice to keep the sequence for use within the Non video (Archive) Module. Now enter the following Bets and Cards for Shoe 1: Session Shoe Round Bet Cards used for play Result $100 T, T, A, 8, 6, 4, 9 Win $100 T, 8, 6, 9, T, 3, 7, 9, T Tie $200 T, T, 3, 9, 6, 8, 5, 8, 4, 7 Lose $400 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, T, 7, 2, 8, T, 6 Win $450 T, T, A, A, 8, 9, 6, 3, 2, 4 Tie $200 T, 9, T, A, 5, 7, 8, T Win $100 A, T, 5, 6, 7, T, 5, A, T Win The finish of Round 7 completes Shoe 1. Dispose a card to the discard tray with its value known. Click on the card value then Click Dispose. Undo last move(s) Click to reset to Round 1 of a new Shoe. 22

Click on Position 1 and select Player: BJQ1 Place a wager of $100 in the Bet field. Click on Position 2 and select Player: BJQ2 Place a wager of $100 in the Bet field. Click on the Begin Play Button! A Red Active bar will be highlighting Position 1. This indicates the Position of the next action. Check the Statistics Box to see 104 cards are unseen and the Fluctuating Advantage reads +0.12% in favour of the House. To obtain a Playing Strategy Report from the Non-video (Archive) mode enter the card values and decisions in their correct order for the following 2 Tables of 2 Shoes. (T, 7, 8, 9, T, Stand, Stand, T) 23

Click on Analyse for Part 4 - Player Reports. 26

Part 4. The Player Reports section displays the data that has been collected via the Data Collection Modules and enables the User to perform a variety of Wagering and Playing analysis Graphs from pre-defined Counts and Advantage Algorithms. The Advanced functionality is for creating User defined Graphs and Reports. Click on the Player Reports Button from the main screen - or Click on the Analyse Button from the Non-video (Archive) DCM to display the Select Player dialog box: Click on BJQ1 Select all sessions of play to be displayed. A list of all available Players from the active Protec21.ddb file will be listed on the left side with their available sessions for display listed to the right. Click on OK and the Graph for BJQ1 should be displayed totalling 4 Shoes of data. Two of the Shoes were collected within the Video (Live) DCM and two Shoes from the Non-video (Archive) mode. Across the top of the Graph is the Threat Status Bar: Of immediate concern is the - FLASHING RED - Light - indicating the Graph for BJQ1 suggests a Threat Status. 27

First glance shows that the Player Win of $300 and a Low Session Rating Threat Status could indicate the Player is not of High concern as yet but should be carefully scrutinised and re-evaluated at each future session. Counter Rating: Moderate Threat. There is evidence of Bet/Advantage correlation showing an actual Bet spread of 2.3. This can also be visually recognised. Tracker Rating: Typical Style. There is no evidence to suggest any Advanced Tracking Activity is involved. Note: Card Counting and the Counter Rating is a minor/simple form of Card Tracking mathematics and a High Counter Rating will by its very nature raise the Tracker Rating Status. Session Rating: Low Level Threat. The Session Rating for BJQ1 indicates that this data had a value slightly in favour of the Player. There is evidence to suggest that this style of play is skilful enough to overcome the House Advantage and slightly favour the Player by % 0.17 (of turnover) The top half of the screen displays Wagering and Results Graphs. In this Graph the Initial Bet is displayed. The lower half of the screen displays Counts and Advantage Graphs. In this Graph the Actual Advantage is displayed. 28

The game starts from slightly below the zero line to reflect the House Advantage and a Player Disadvantage. The thick vertical line represents the completion of a Shoe with the thinner lines in between being the individual Rounds. The slightly darker Round lines represent larger than average wagers. The Zero line is the Breakeven Point between the House and the Player as the card flow progresses for each Round throughout the Shoe. Right Button Click on the Graph to display selected Round statistics. Click on the Betting Analysis Button: The Player finished $300 ahead with an Average Bet size of $

Click on the Playing Analysis Button: Deviations only: A blank page denotes that BJQ1 is very knowledgeable and played 100% accurate to Basic Strategy. Full: A list of all Rounds played will be recorded. Shoes 3 and 4 for BJQ1 were entered using the Non-video (Archive) mode and have a Playing Strategy Report. Click on Close to return to the Graph. 30

Click on the Customise Graphs Button to display the Graph Selection dialog box. This is where to select the Graph to be displayed. Up to 5 Graphs can be displayed in each section using a Line or Bar format. Player Analysis: EV (Actual Advantage) is used for general investigative purposes to calculate Player Report Statistics. Temporarily alter with Caution. Each EV Type Definition will create different calculations and readings. This is due to the different Betting or Playing efficiencies they each measure. Select a Count for display on the Playing Strategy Reports. It will be displayed at the start of the Round and prior to the Player decision. If this field is left blank then the report will permanently display a Zero (0) Count. 31

This Graph shows the Player Win/Loss viewed beside the Initial Bet. The lower half of the screen shows the Hi/Lo True Count represented as a Bar Graph beside the Actual Advantage Line Graph. Interesting Note: It can be seen that the last Round of Shoe 2 displays a positive Hi/Lo Count indicating a Player Advantage. The Actual Advantage predicts a House Advantage. This highlights the differing efficiencies of the various Counts used by human memory in real time play versus the preciseness of the Actual Advantage calculations. A Player using a Hi/Lo Count would be Big Betting into a real House Advantage! Click on Advanced for the Graph Definitions dialog box. This is to view existing Graph Parameters or create User defined Graph types. A feature of Protec 21 is that any New Graph created may be displayed and analysed upon older data. Enter a Graph name. Click to create a New Graph. 32

Count & Advantage Graphs TAB: Fill out the Card Value Fields Tick to apply an algorithm to complete the formulae. Wager & Win/Loss Graphs TAB. Select the desired Bet to record. Use the Drop Down Box if the selected Bet is to be measured against a Count or Advantage Algorithm to create an Expected Value Calculation. You may not alter or delete any of the standard pre-set Graph Definitions. Click on OK. Click on Yes to Save the Graph Definition Type. 33

Click on the Player Reports Button: Highlight BJQ2 and Select all sessions of play. Across the top of the Graph is the Status Bar for BJQ2. There is immediately noticed a -GREEN- Light indicating the Graph for BJQ2 is considered Non-Threatening. No visual indication of Bet/Advantage correlation. - 3 GREEN LIGHTS A Casino delight! Session Rating: 0.41 On a long term basis of Data Collection using this Rule Set this figure will eventually normalise out at the House Advantage in this case being:

Report Type: Click on the Playing Analysis Button: Deviations only: BJQ2 made enough losing deviations that would be considered that of a Typical Style Player. Information obtained from the Quikstart exercise it could be suggested that: BJQ1: Considered a High Risk and knowledgeable Player to be carefully scrutinised and re-evaluated at each future session of play. BJQ2: Displays no sign of Threat Status and giving all indications of being a valuable customer at this stage. Although both Players outwardly display similar characteristics they have vastly different Threat characteristics. Both Players won $300 with similar Average Bet sizes and although only 14 Rounds over 2 Shoes were entered for BJQ2 there is already a clear indication that there is no Threat to the House at this stage. This could be considered in vast contrast to the information obtained on BJQ1. Close down all the Graphs return to the main screen. 35

Part 5. The Tools functionality enables the User to: Archive or Delete Sessions. Customise: Compact Database. Change Password. Licence Registration. For the Quikstart exercise we will Archive and Delete the session data from the active input database Protec 21.ddb to a new database file Quikstart.ddb Click on the Tools Button. 43 Licence Registration: If your version of PROTEC 21 has expired or requires Licence Registration you will need to contact Product Support to obtain instructions for re-activation. From the Tools menu select Licence Registration. Visible in the dialog box is a Request key coded number. Forward this key code number to us and we will issue you the new Licence key to insert in the specified field. Click on OK and PROTEC 21 will be ready to use. 43

Part 6. PROTEC 21 contains a module that enables the User to design and analyse Card Shuffle procedures. The main feature of the Shuffle Design module is to give a visual display of the Card Dispersion Ratios. This assists in creating shuffling procedures with minimal downtime and improved security! It can also aid in the analysis of some suspect Playing Styles ie: Shuffle Tracking. Click on the New Shuffle Button. A window is displayed with a block of 8 coloured lines. This is the default opening screen that initially represents 8 decks of cards. (416) After the Shuffle has been created the final viewing window will display 2 Stacks of cards. The pre-shuffled Stack is on the left (as per the discard tray of last Shoe) The post-shuffled Stack is on the right (as prior to offering the Player cut card) Coloured tracing lines visually display the movement of each card. 44

Click on the Edit Shuffle Parameters button or double-click inside the open window to display the Edit Shuffle Parameters dialog box. Fill out the Edit Shuffle Parameters box as shown below. Shuffle name: Quikstart 2 deck Shuffle now Shuffle the cards upon completion of the parameters. The Shuffle Stack button may also be used from the Tool Bar. Modify Shuffle Parameters. Number of decks in shoe: 2 The Shuffle procedure box has a description of the Language Format: The procedure describes each of the shuffle movements ie: grabs, interleaves. After the number of deck(s) has been selected, all the cards are placed into an imaginary Stack:0. (in effect the last shoe discard tray) There are 20 Stacks to work with using the language format and the cards must all end up back on Stack:0. The final viewing window displays 2 versions of Stack:0 before and after. Text can be added as needed. All text used has to be prefixed by a semi-colon. 45

Some shuffles are quite complex and text helps to keep track of each stage of the shuffle ie: All Shuffles can be simply broken down to grabs and interleaves of various sizes. For the Quikstart exercise we will run through the procedure of a brief 2-Deck Shuffle and then give a short analysis. The shuffle is 2 stages, 104 cards are broken into half and interleaved together once only, a description of each stage is given below: 2 Decks (104 cards) start together as one Stack (stack0). Stage 1: The Stack is broken into half - 2 Stacks of 52 cards (stack0) (stack4) Stage 2: Interleave the two 52 card Stacks together once only. (stack2) (move stack2 onto stack0) This completes the Shuffle. 46

Fill out the Shuffle procedure box and input as written below: Move 52 from stack0 onto stack4 ;Breaks the 104 cards into half. Interleave 52 from stack0, stack4 onto stack2 ;Interleaves both stacks together with 52 card grab sizes Move stack2 onto stack0 ;Moves the completed shuffle back onto stack0 for viewing With the automatic shortcut commands only the first letter is needed. Therefore it can be further condensed to display: m 52 f s0 o s4 i 52 f s0, s4 o s2 m s2 o s0 Card errors: This is the human factor offsetting exact grab sizes. Click on OK after entering the Shuffle Procedure. A Syntax error box will be displayed if a correction is required to the language coding. A view of both Stacks should be visible showing a 104 card colour line trace: Click on either Stack to change the card direction flow. 47

Drag n Drop the mouse pointer inside either stack to highlight sections of interest. Click on the View button or right mouse button click inside the window to select colour section sizes: Adjust the section colour size to 26 and a simple analysis clearly shows the middle and top 2 segments of the pre shuffle (discard tray) merging with the upper 52 card section of the post shuffle. Click on the Shuffle Stack button and the shuffle will be performed again. Card error rates are highlighted as slight variations in individual card placements can be seen. Basic sectional structures will remain in tact. 48

Click on the New Window or Tile function to display different views at the same time. Click to Save your Shuffle onto hard disk. Click to Open a pre-saved Shuffle. Preview the Shuffle before Printing it out to hard copy. 49
