For more information on this act, please visit: Please note that during records research, it was found that these artifacts had at one time been accepted into the collections of the Wyoming State Museum, but the current location of several artifacts is unknown. These artifacts have "[Location unknown]" following the entry. Items are grouped by accession number then by individual artifact number. Notes from written record files are included whenever available. In April, 2007, a letter of notification was sent to all tribal entities believed to be geographically or historically linked to the items below. Artifacts are of various types including baskets, bags, clothing items, jewelry, etc. Pipe ( ): "Hocky Puck" shape carved grey/green metamorphosed siltstone; drilled for stem and bowl. Described in records as: "excavated from Indian grave yard on the Columbia River." Basket ( ): Described in records as: "Very rare and valuable basket with symbolism in false embroidery. When this basket was sold by a squaw named Mary to Mrs. Lusk the Indians were very much disturbed and every Indian that Mrs. Lusk passed spoke to her about this basket. Found in a burial cave near the headwaters of the Mississippi." 54.53: Two artifacts donated by an individual from California in Beads ( ): Described in records as: "Blue and white bone beads from an Indian grave on the river north of Wheatland, WY." 55.6: Collection of over 1,000 archaeological and natural history artifacts collected by a man in Nebraska and donated in 1955 by an individual from Veteran, Wyoming. The artifacts were excavated from a mound in eastern Nebraska. Items on the list noted as "deaccessioned" were previously transferred to the University of Wyoming and subsequently repatriated to the Pawnee tribe. Items in bold have not been located. Appeared to be Sioux or Cheyenne Graves. No Indians here know what tool was used for." 56.67: Two artifacts found in a cave near Evanston, WY ca. 1955, donated by an individual from Green River, WY in Possible Rattle ( ): Described in records as: "Made from a turtle shell." Club ( ) : 181 miscellaneous western and Native American artifacts donated by an individual from California in One card with the following specimens glued on it ( ): a) One brass finger ring with blue glass 'stone" [Location unknown] b,c) One sheet silver with stamped serpentine line, a round hole, and a rectangular hole. May be a barrel key escutcheon from a pistol. d) One fragmentary oval of silver (?), function undetermined. One complex knot of sinew or finely cut buckskin ( ): Handwritten on the card are the words: 'VENAGO CO./ ALLEGHENY RIVER. trade ring part of silver hair buckle gun stock ornament Indian grave Pa.'" (Per file information: from grave located in Venango Co., Allgheny River, PA) Arrow ( ): Described in records as: "One Indian arrow with integral wooden point for ceremonial purposes. Possibly a 'medicine arrow' from a bundle." : 107 archaeological artifacts purchased from a vendor in Cheyenne, WY in The collection is described as an archaeology study collection of materials related to Wyoming's prehistoric Indian cultures. Projectile points ( ): Described in records as: "4 projectile points. Leath Burial Johnson County, Wyoming. See: 'The Leath Burial Site,' The Wyoming Archaeologist, Vol. 5, No. 2, June, 1962, p. 2 8." [Location unknown] 68.94: More than 1,000 miscellaneous archaeological specimens from the Fort Laramie National Historic Site "duplicate study collections". Ft. Laramie is located in Goshen County, Wyoming. These artifacts were transferred to the Wyoming State Museum in 1968 under "Public Law 127, Management of Museum Properties, July, 1955."

All evidently drilled with a stone drill. Described in records as:: "Indian squaw grave, L.C. Bishop ranch, 3 miles SW of Douglas." : One artifact donated by an individual from Portland, Oregon in Projectile point ( a): Described in records as: "One stone projectile point of dark red jasper. Oblique parallel flaking upper right to lower left. Apparently from Late Prehistoric Period. Found by on or near land homesteaded by in the 1930s. Environment: 'Indian Burial Caves.'" : 61 miscellaneous artifacts were purchased from a vendor in Springfield, Oregon in The collection was identified as: "Small lot of trade material from Indian cremations dug out by vendor in Klamath County, Oregon. This was from the area occupied by the Klamath Tribe in historic times. A large battle is known to have taken place in this area around " All but one artifact were deaccessioned by the Wyoming State Museum and transferred to the Scotland County Museum in Laurinburg, North Carolina in Furniture hardware fragment ( ): "brass fitting for trunk handle" : 22 miscellaneous Native American artifacts purchased from vendor in Denver, CO in Described in records as: "One box containing remnants of a Medicine Man's Kit.' Probably is a more common medicine bundle. Moth destroyed... Contains feathers and parts, two wood tubes of unknown function, braid of sweet grass, bundle of grass, remains of hawk or eagle skull and skin, and other small items. Wrapping for the bundle is otter skin which now has hair only around toe areas." Note: items below marked with an * are in bundle photo in file. Not clear whether other items were part of bundle : Wolverine or fisher skin, without tail (bundle wrapping.) [Location unknown]* a c: Tail from Bald (?) 10 : Braids of sweet grass, tied together at big ends with buckskin thong.* : Round bundle of swamp grass (?) tied in form of brush with strip of yellow cloth and strip of print cloth.* : Tail feather from red shafted flicker.* : Flageolet, apparently of bamboo : Same as above : Pouch, apparently made from section of animal paunch, containing what appears to be a mixture of tobacco and reddish inner bark (kimnikinik).* (actually #ed.20): Piece of print cloth (24 x 72) showing water (?) stains and adhering frass and pupal cocoons is a strip of blue, red, yellow, and white striped reddish orange cotton print. There is slight evidence of insect damage. The cloth was in association with the other material of the time of insect activity the construction of the cocoons directly on the cloth appears certain. This cloth may have served as an overwrap for the entire bundle." : Box containing a mixture of tobacco and cedar bark (from pouch ) a, b: Two feather drops.
