1 Supplies: Size Delica or Seed Beads, 2 colors; DB 200 White (88) DB 7 Blue (0) Size B Nymo Thread or to 6 lb Fireline numbers in parenthesis = Quantity Wax or Thread Conditioner Size 0 Beading Needles Scissors or Thread Zap Findings of choice Get Started:. Cut piece of thread 2 and /2 yards long. 2. Wax thread. 3. String thread through a needle at each end.. Pick up bead & slide it to the center of the thread.. Make sure there is an even amount of thread coming out of each side of first bead. A needle B needle Single Needle Ladder Stitch - instructions on page 2. 2 Bead Base Row (one needle) - instructions on page 8 Double Needle Ladder Stitch:. Push needle A down through bead Push needle B up through bead Snug beads together.. Push needle A up through bead 3.. Push needle B down through bead 3. B 2 A A 3 B 9. Snug beads together. 0. Push needle A up through bead.. Push needle B down through bead. A B 6. Snug beads together. 7. Push needle A down through bead. 8. Push needle B up through bead. B A 2. Snug. 3. For stability repeat steps 7 to 2. Both needles should be exiting from bead. The A needle exits out the top and B needle out the bottom. Allow the B needle to dangle. 2 Single Needle Ladder Stitch:. Pick up 2 beads. 2. Allow beads to fall /2 way down the length of thread *The tail thread will exit out of bead. this thread will be used for fringe, later. 3. Stitch UP through bead and DOWN through bead 2. * for stability repeat step 3 once more.. Pick up bead; bead 3.. Stitch DOWN through bead 2 and UP through bead Pick up bead; bead. 7. 3 Brick Stitch I always start my rows with two beads in the following fashion. Many directions show increases and decreases with just one bead but this leaves threads showing on the outside edges of your work, which I don t like. A two bead start eliminates this problem. Brick Stitch - First 2 Beads of a Row 2. This row will be worked from Right to Left (R-L). 2. With needle A pick up 2 beads. 3. Stitch under the second Bridge (connecting thread). There are top Bridge threads connecting the beads using the Ladder Stitch. There are also bottom bridge threads which we are not using right now.. Gently snug beads & 2 near the bridge then stitch UP through bead 2.. Snug. Bead may not lay properly until after the next couple of steps. Steps 6 & 7 = Circle Stitch: 6. Stitch DOWN through bead, snug by pulling DOWN and to the LEFT (not to the right). 7. Stitch UP through bead 2 and snug. Beads & 2 should now sit side by side. Brick Stitch - bead at a time. Pick up (P/U) bead. 2. Stitch under the next Bridge thread. 3. Snug by pulling upward.. Repeat to the end of the row; until all top Bridge threads have been used. 4 Brick Stitch. Repeat instructions for the First 2 beads of a row, followed by the bead at a time instructions to complete all rows until only Bridge thread is remaining. Top Loop (for finding; earring, pendant, etc..) Thread exits Brick Stitched bead on the Left.. P/U 6 beads. 2. Stitch down through the st of the 6 beads just added and down through the Brick Stitched bead on the Right. 3. Repeat Loop thread path to strengthen.. Weave through beads to exit an edge bead on the bottom row (ready to add fringe). OR if thread is short, Secure it then cut it off. You can then use the tail thread to continue on with the project or start a new thread if needed. Secure & Cut thread (weave to secure). Follow thread paths to secure thread (no knots) then Cut or use a thread zap. EXAMPLE only, thread paths to secure are vast: BLACK to PURPLE to RED to GREEN - CUT The Black thread path is a figure 8, when there are enough brick stitched beads, I prefer to use 3 figure 8 paths to secure. *A Knot or knots may be used if you so desire. 5 Fringe. Get into position: Needle/Thread positioning is important; exit DOWN out of the bead you want a fringe to hang from. 2. P/U Fringe beads. The last bead added is the turn around bead. 3. Skip the last bead added and weave UP through the remaining Fringe beads.. Stitch into the same bead thread exited when starting this Fringe.. Repeat for all Fringe. 6. Secure and cut thread. 7. 6 Brick Stitch - Increase INCREASE - Beginning of a Row:. Pick up 2 beads as usual, instead of stitching through 2nd bridge, stitch through st bridge thread. 2. Gently snug beads & 2 near the bridge, before you tighten, stitch UP through bead Snug.. Continue on using the Brick Stitch - bead at time instructions. *A Circle Stitch may be used to add additional beads (see page for Circle Stitch information). INCREASE - End of a Row: After using the last Bridge thread;. Pick up bead 2. Stitch DOWN through the bead sticking out on the lower row. 3. 7 Brick Stitch - Decrease DECREASE - Beginning of a Row:. Reposition thread to exit appropriate bead to start the row. 2. Continue as usual using the First 2 beads of a Row instructions. 8 Brick Stitch - 2 Bead Base Row We will create a triangle with 3 beads. Both tail and working thread will exit the same bead.. Pick up beads, 2, & 3, allow beads to side to the center of the 2-/2 yard length of thread. 2. Stitch UP through bead only; as shown both thread ends will exit bead at the same end. 3. Use your fingers to snug beads and thread to form a triangle.. Pick up bead () and stitch DOWN through bead sticking out on the BOTTOM row; bead 3.. Pick up bead () and stitch UP through bead sticking out on the TOP row; bead. 6. Pick up bead (6) and stitch DOWN through bead sticking out on the BOTTOM row; bead. 7. Pick up bead (7) and stitch UP through bead sticking out on the TOP row; bead Pick up bead (8) and stitch DOWN through bead sticking out on the BOTTOM row; bead Pick up bead (9) and stitch UP through bead sticking out on the TOP row; bead Continue as usual using the First 2 bead of a Row instructions. Brick Stitch - Adding bead alone. Thread exits brick stitched bead on the LEFT; Pick up bead and stitch under the bridge. 2. Stitch UP through bead just added. 3. Stitch DOWN into brick stitched bead on the RIGHT.. Yes, thread is showing on the outside of the bead (one thread on either side). Do not over tighten, weave to secure.
