Here s what you ll need: Tear-drop Beads (9 Pieces) Round Beads (20 Pieces) Jewelry Wire 2 Chain Pieces (4 inches each) 3 Jump Rings & 1 Closure Jewelry Plier Wire Cutter Acrylic Paint & Brush 5
Just a few simple steps, so let s get started! 6
7
8
Step 1: Cut a 15 inch piece of jewelry wire. Step 2: Alternate and string the round and tear-drop beads on the wire piece. Step 3: Once you have beaded 9 tear-drop ones, add the rest of the round ones at each end of the wire. Step 4: Create a loop at each end of the wire piece and twist the extra wire around the loop. When making the second loop, make sure you push the beads back to the first loop and leave as little space as possible between the second loop and the beads. Step 5: Using a jump-ring, attach the first piece of chain to one of the wire loops. Repeat with the second loop and chain piece. Step 6: Add a closure to one of the chain ends and a jump ring to the end of second chain. You are done if you just want a clear necklace! Optional Steps Step 7: Paint one-third of the tear-drop bead on the necklace with acrylic color of your choice. Repeat it on rest of the tear-drop beads. Step 8: Paint the second coat only at the tips of the same beads to get the ombré effect. Hang the necklace somewhere so that the paint dries off completely. 9
There you have your clear or ombré necklace! I used acrylic color since it s easy to wash off and switch to a different color. I had no issues of the paint getting on my clothes so far. I am sure there are better choices, so please let me know if you know any! I hope you give this DIY a try, follow along on Instagram to keep up to date! 10

How to Wire-Wrap Beach Glass the Easy Way by Gayle Bird Designs Beach glass, or sea glass, is one of the prettiest pieces of garbage you ll ever see. I am lucky to live on Cape Breton Island in the Atlantic Ocean and I m able to collect my own beach glass. If you aren t so lucky, you can buy them on Ebay. This technique also works for any flat, irregular object. This is my first tutorial & it s super duper long, because I had trouble taking out any steps. If it s any help, I shot a video, too! I thought it would help explain the photos by watching me create something start to finish. Also, it was hard to get the photos while also working with both hands. So you get both! 12

Supplies: round wire, about 20 or 22 gauge, some beach glass, flush cutters, round nose pliers, and chain nose or bent chain nose pliers. 14
Cut two pieces of wire about inches long. Cross them into an X and place your thumbs direction in the crotch of the X. 15
Twist the two wires together. Hold the wire exactly as here with your thumbs and fingers on either side of the crossed x holding it wrong can result in a sloppy twist. Hold your thumbs as close to each other as possible and push them together during each twist to make it tight and neat. 16
Make sure you are twisting the wires equally, not wrapping one around the other. On the left: good. On the right: bad. Place the twist at the back of the stone. 17
Choose the bottom and wrap one of the legs of the twist across the stone to meet its opposite. Cross one wire over the front of the stone/glass and twist it with its counterpart on the other side of the stone. You ll make another twist the same as the first, but this time against the stone and not your other thumb. Push the twist up against the front or side of the stone. Push tight! Keep the wire as close to the stone as possible. You ll have gaps but we ll fix that later. 18
You should have created another X intersection, front and back. Twist those together as well. Again, push the twist against the front or side of the stone. Continue crossing and twisting the wires on opposite sides of the stone until you reach the top. Take a wire from the front of the stone and one from the opposite side on the back and twist them at the top of the beach glass to create the stem for a bail. 19
Pull any remaining wires around the stone and wrap them around the bail twist at the top. Now is when you can wrap around, not twist :) Here s where you can wrap around! Make it the tightest you can. Pulling the wire is easier than pushing it and longer is easier to work than shorter. 20
Cut the wire as close as you can with your flush cutters. Use your flat pliers to gently apply pressure in a rotational direction around the wire in order to tamp it down. A light pressure and a slight rotation around the wire in the direction of its wrap should tap it down without damaging the wire. This is a little tricky, so practice! 21
If you like you can wrap another wire around the top to create a little shell around the stone. At this point, it s probably pretty loose. Let s tighten up those wires on the back where they won t show! Use your chain nose or bent-chain-nose pliers to create an s-curve on the back wires. This will tighten the whole cage and keep the stone in place. Be careful to hold the other wires down so you don t twist them out of shape! 22
Now we need to make a bail in order to hang this properly on a chain or ribbon I have bailmaking pliers but you can do it with a smooth-barrelled pen or pencil! Point the two bail wires opposite one another one facing the front and one the back. Then place the pencil perpindicular to the wires the same way a chain would go. Push it into the V of the wires as far as you can. 23
Wrap the two wires around the outside barrel of the pencil; the wires should be going in opposite directions. Without removing the pencil, wrap the ends of the wires around the stem of the bail. This will probably be the final layer of wire, so make them neat and close together. 24
Cut some or all of the ends close to the back of the bail stem. 25
Use your fingernails to separate the bail loops to create a pleasing Y shape. They re probably a little wobbly, so use the widest part of your flattest pliers to give them a little squeeze along the loop s surface. 26
Much straighter! DONE! 27
There s more we can do here. Lots more in fact, but let s be simple: let s try some decorative spirals. Pull out your round-nose pliers! Cut the end wires to different sizes (to make different-sized spirals). Use the very tip of your smallest round-nose pliers to make the initial P shape on the wire end. Keep twisting until the pliers get in the way. 28
then use your flattest pliers to tighten up the cinnamon roll one quarter turn at a time. 29
Arrange the spiral up against the stone where it won t catch on hair or sweaters. And there s your pendant! 30
This is a super-easy technique once you get the hang of it. Make the wires longer and you can do lots of decorative things around the stone: 31

Wrap With a 4-Strand Braid Pattern 34
CATEGORY: Jewelry TYPE: Pendant SKILL LEVEL: little skill level requirement Novice BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY: To complete this tutorial you should have basic knowledge of wire tools. I'll show you the rest! PATTERN DESCRIPTION: As a wire wrapper, I'm constantly looking for ways to make the wrap better, easier, and more beautiful. I think we've all tried using a braid to wrap stones but it's not always the most stable. I have really long hair and so I've done a lot of braid research - and it suddenly occurred to me to try to adapt a 4-strand braid for wire! After some experimentation I've pretty well perfected it - I can wrap the slipperiest stones in about six minutes! This technique gives you a solid foundation and allows for infinite diversions from the main steps to create a design that's uniquely yours. The brown beach glass shown in the promo photos is the exact one covered within the steps. I also include suggestions for several variations on the braid and how it can be applied in different ways. Hope you enjoy making these as much as I enjoyed putting these instructions together for you. MATERIALS: round artistic wire- 20 or 22 gauge a stone to wrap a stationary hook flush cutters bent chain nose pliers 35

37 About the Author Gayle Bird I'm a self-representing Cape Breton wire artist with a dozen years of experience writing clear instructions for online, adult learners. I love curriculum development almost as much as I love making jewellery! The two are combining beautifully with my online tutorials. Through all the art forms I've explored - painting, digital art, clay sculpting, web design, paper art, and calligraphy - my love of colour has guided me to new discoveries. Now, over a decade of self-teaching has produced my distinctive, spontaneous style of wire-sculpted art jewellery. My pieces weave non-tarnish wire around a wide range of stimulating materials. The warmth of semi-precious gemstones, the unlimited, variegated colours of firepolished glass, and the fascinating textures & history of beach glass all lend their own character to each one-ofa-kind creation. In my steampunk-inspired line, the patina of vintage, salvaged materials contrasts sharply with the bright & modern designs in the surrounding wire. I love to create and I love to teach and share with others. I hope I can help you find a new technique or pattern you'll love! Facebook: Blog: Esty: Craftsy: Youtube: Pinterest: Flicker: 36
The Looking Glass Pendant Tutorial by Marcie Abney La Bella Joya This one is simple, and I mean even-if-you're-not-a-beadweaver simple. This pendant is super easy to make, the color options are endless, and they make great gifts! I've given you steps, pictures and even cross-section illustrations, so you can do this. I completed this one in an hour and it's unique and interesting, and you can make the whole thing for about $10 and an hour of your time. Ready? 38
Here's what you'll need: Materials: - MissFickleMedia oval connector or similar connector (you could also use her round links) - Size 8 Matte Gun Metal Japanese Seed Beads (A) - Size 11 Japanese Seed Beads Metallic Iris Purple (B) - Size 8 Raku Plum/Teal Iris Japanese Seed Beads (C) - Size 11 Matte Pewter Japanese Seed Beads (D) - Size 15 Silver-Lined Dark Teal Japanese Seed Beads (E) - Wildfire beading thread (or Fireline, but do not use nymo) - Size 12 beading needle - one jump ring (any size) - chain of any color and size that you'd like Here's how you'll do it: Instructions: 1. Cut a length of thread 5' in length and tie the thread onto the oval connector using a double knot and leaving a 6" tail. 39
2. String 1A, 1B, 1A. *Pass your needle through the connector from the back and up through the second A bead that you added. This will form a loop around the metal connector, and hook the second A to the metal edge. Pull tight so that the size 11 beads pops up between the two size 8 beads. 3. String 1B and 1A and complete step 2 from the * above. Complete step 3 until you have gone completely around the metal connector. You'll be working in a clockwise direction 40
4. When you come to the end, string just 1B, pass down through the first A that you added in Step 2. Loop your thread around the metal connector and come back up through that same A. Pull tight. 5. Pass back through the B that you just added. String 1C and pass through the next B. Continue in this manner working around the connector (flip it over so you're not working in a counterclockwise direction.) After you add the last C, pass through the B and the first C that you added. Tip: Try to use "fatter" beads in the curves where the gaps between size B beads are larger and skinnier beads along the edges where the gaps are smaller. 41
6. If you are in a curve of the pendant, add 2D (choose slimmer beads) and pass through the next C. If you are along one of the edges of the pendant, string only 1D. Continue around the pendant in this manner, adding 2D along the curves of the pendant where the gaps are larger, and 1D along the edges where the gaps are slimmer. When you come to the end, pass through the C and the first D that you added in this round. TIP: You'll have to be very intuitive. If the bead feels like it's sitting too tight in the gap, take it out and choose a slimmer bead. 42
7. String 2E and pass through the next D (or 2D if you're in a curve). Continue in this manner around the pendant until you have completed the last outside row and pass through the 2D. 8. Pass your needle through the beadwork until you have exited from 2E that are sitting at the top of the pendant. String 5B and pass through the next 2E. This will create a loop on top of the pendant that you'll string your jump ring on. Pass your needle into the beadwork, knot the thread around some of the threads in the beadwork. Do this two or three times with the working thread and the tail thread. Trim the excess. 43
And you're done! String your pendant on some chain. You can wear it high or low, or even attach a little charm in the center. Try making it in different colors. Try using one of MissFickleMedia's round links instead of the oval. (The upside to the round link? Because there are no sharp curves, the beading will be much more even, no adding two beads instead of one.) 44
(Look closely at the silver beads in the above photo. Do you see how I have doubled them along the curves of the oval. This will account for the extra width between your C beads as you come to the curves.) I hope you enjoy creating and giving handmade. 45

Peyote Bracelet Stitched With Amazing Delicas As you can see from this peyote bracelet, there are no seed beads that works better with Peyote stitch than Delicas from Miuki. These cylinder beads are so uniform, that when stitched together you can hardly pass a needle between them, because of their tight fit. Stitched together they give a very stiff finish, perfect for anything that needs to hold its shape. You can use this stiffness to your advantage, like in this peyote bracelet, where you stitch the bracelet lengthwise instead of the regular way. The Delicas also have rather large holes, which enables you to go through each bead several times. Therefor you can shape the bead work in any way you like, as you will see doing this peyote bracelet. 47
What you need: #11 Delicas Gold Fleck Ivory #11 Delicas Rainbow Luster Opaque Olive #11 Delicas Galvanized Gold Fireline Beading needle #12 Swarovski bicones 4mm Olivine AB 3 Freshwater pearls, olive colored, proximately 6 mm 48
Step 1: String one olive Delica and one Gold Delica. Continue to string every other color until you have 140 beads. This will give you a bracelet of 18 cm length. If you want it longer add another 14 beads, if shorter add 14 beads less. Stitch 10 rows with Gold Fleck Ivory. Step 2: Add 7 Gold Fleck Ivory. All the rows in the peyote bracelet will start and end with 14 gold Fleck Ivory beads (you add 7 which will cover 14 beads from the end of the bracelet to the beginning of the pattern). On the pictures the beginning of the pattern is marked with an a. Add two olive beads. Weave the thread through the next 9 beads and add two olive beads. Repeat like this until you finish the row with the 7 gold flecked ivory beads. 49
Step 3: Add one olive bead, weave through the next 11 beads, add two olive. Repeat until the end of the row. Finish with 14 Gold Fleck Ivory. Step 4: Add one gold bead, go through the olive bead from last the last row, and string on 11 olive beads. Pass through the olive bead from the last row and add one gold bead. Repeat until the end of the row. Finish with the 14 gold Fleck Ivory beads. Step 5: Do the whole row in peyote, adding gold beads in all the gaps. Finish with the 14 Gold Fleck Ivory beads. 50
Step 6: Weave through the first two gold beads. Add 6 gold beads and weave through the next 3 beads. Repeat until the end. Step 7: Weave through the first 5 beads, add one gold, weave through the next 3, add one Gold bead and weave through the next 6 beads. Repeat til the end of the row. 51
Step 8: Weave through the first 6 beads. Add a Crystal Bicone and weave through the next 7 beads. Repeat until the end of the row. You have now made the first half of the peyote bracelet. Put it aside. Make the second half exactly like the first, but do not add the bicone in step 8. Step 9: Stitch the two halves together by weaving the first 14 beads together, then weave your way through the second half until you reach the gap where the bicone should be. Go through the bicone of the first half, and weave through the second half until you reach the next gap. Continue until you have joined the two halves from end to end. 52
Step 10: Weave the end of the thread through the peyote bracelet until you reach the outer edge. If you don't have enough tread, tie it off and add a new one on the outer edge. Go to the edge that begins with an olive bead, and exit through it. Add one gold bead, go through the first raised gold bead. Skip the next 5 gaps, but add 9 gold beads on the thread and pass through the 6th raised gold bead on the row. Add a gold bead, go through the next raised gold bead and repeat until the end of the row. Step 11: This row starts with a gold bead, not an olive like the first one. Coming out the gold bead, add one olive bead and go through the next two gold beads. Add 5 olive beads and go through the next two gold beads. Repeat until the end of the row. 53
Step 12: coming out the last gold bead, you have a odd count peyote ending, and must do some side steps before you can continue the third row. Flip your bead work so you have the end on the right side. Go back through the bead marked with 2, then through bead 3, 4 and back through bead 2. Coming out of the olive bead 2, you can start the row as usual going through bead 1. Add one gold bead (this bead will be slightly tilted) and pass through the first green bead added in step 11. Add 4 gold beads. Coming out the last olive bead, add one gold (this will also be tilted) and pass through the next gold and the olive bead. Repeat until the end of the row. Repeat on the other side of the Bracelet. 54
Step 13: Sew on two olive pearls on one side of the bracelet, and one on the middle of the other side. Make elastic loops for each of the pearls, and your peyote bracelet is done. 55
