MTS TechSurge on search and rescue at sea (2015, Chennai India) Raised awareness of problem in India and need for further technology Audience donated replacement boat and safety equipment to local fisherman who capsized at sea and survived 7 days 25

MTS TechSurge on role of in situ ocean observations for improving forecasts of Superstorm Sandy (2012) Provided demonstrated evidence of cost savings ($XXB) and protection of lives and property Served as a critical support for bolstering federal funding of IOOS 26
