3 ABSTRACTS Room: Lakeside Technology Centre NUCLEAR DAY :50am: QUICKLOOK3-FS AOV & MOV Diagnostic System (Joe Santangelo & Matt Bell) Please join us for a live demo of the QUIKLOOK 3-FS (QL3-FS) Valve Diagnostic System for testing Air-Operated Valves (AOVs) and Motor-Operated Valves (MOVs). The QUIKLOOK-FS software is the result of a collaboration between Teledyne and Emerson, combining the knowledge and experience of both companies to create the most advanced valve testing platform for the nuclear power industry. QL3-FS acquires clean accurate data, minimizes setup time, and maximizes ALARA. 11:05am: FIELDVUE DVC6200 Troubleshooting (Tim Jentz & Matt Bell) Fisher FIELDVUE instruments offer state-of-the-art diagnostic tools providing a window into the health of valve assembly assets. Our technicians will show you how Fisher valves were built with simplicity for easy maintenance. We will also go over key components and their importance, trim designs, valve characteristics, end connections and packing designs. 3:15pm: Rosemount Analytical Demo (Lewis VanKamp) Rosemount liquid transmitters and sensors provide the most complete range of continuous on-line measurement for ph, ORP, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, ozone, chlorine and turbidity. 4 Room: Superior Room 8:50am: Rosemount Nuclear (Nathan Schukei) This is an overview of the Rosemount 3150N Series Nuclear Qualified Pressure Transmitters designed for long term and safe operation of Canada s CANDU fleet of reactors. The Rosemount 3150N Series are analog transmitters qualified for nuclear safetyrelated applications under a 10CFR50 Appendix B nuclear assurance system. The presentation will also review 3150N product enhancements designed to meet the requirements of the CANDU fleet. 9:40am: Regulators (Jose Lontoc) Emerson leads the way in providing pressure regulating products in a vast array of applications. Emerson products offer design innovation, superior performance and unbeatable reliability and durability under extreme conditions in even the world s most rugged environments. We will go over the fundamentals of regulators, the products in general and cover new models replacing obsolete models. 11:05am: Final Control Overview (Peter Alfonsi) Emerson completed the acquisition of Pentair Valves & Controls earlier this year. The new business fits extremely well with our existing portfolio of control valves, regulators and actuators. The addition of market leading product brands such as Anderson Greenwood, Vanessa and Keystone creates the most comprehensive global valve business. Join us as we go over the New Emerson Final Control portfolio which includes control valves, pressure relief, butterfly, gate, globe, ball and check valves. All Valves, Everywhere! 1:00pm: Keystone Butterfly Valves (Danny Bourgeois) Keystone, with a tradition of more than 70 years, built its reputation on providing industrial process butterfly valves, which are known for their reliability, long service life, and reduced operating costs. Independent third-party life-cycle testing has shown that Keystone resilient-seated butterfly valves last 2.5 times longer than competitors comparable butterfly valves in controlling and isolating process flow. These actuators are designed and built for high performance in severe vibration and corrosive environments. We are known for reliable and durable actuators that suit many tough applications with high torque requirements and limited space. Our unique technology was designed to allow for online maintenance. Room: Ontario Room 8:50am: Process Optimization (Dean Latham) Loop Tuning - It s the Last Thing You Do! We examine how different layers in a control loop affects its performance. These layers are Process Design, Control Strategy, Instrumentation and Loop Tuning. Meet our Process Optimization Specialists to see if we can help you improve your plant operations. 9:40am: Westinghouse Nuclear Automation (Panfilo Federico) Westinghouse Nuclear Automation provides safety system upgrades using the Common Q platform and control system upgrades using the Ovation Distributed Control System (DCS) to the operating nuclear units around the world. These upgrades are focused on reducing surveillances, improving plant operation, improving reliability and elimination of single point vulnerabilities. Applications deployed on these platforms will be presented including industry experience. Typical projects that will be discussed are Main Steam Turbine control & protection, Feedpump Governor & protection, Steam Generator/Reactor Water Level & Feedwater Control, and Post Accident Monitoring Systems. 11:05am: Fisher Nuclear (Wyatt Seals) The Liquid Injection Shutdown System (LISS) Quick Acting Valves (QAVs) have experienced episodes of passing, causing operational issues on system testing the last few years. This presentation covers how Lakeside and Emerson supported a nuclear utility in the investigation of the root causes as well providing valuable input to come to a solution. 1:00pm: ValveLink Software security walkthrough (Jordan Mandernach) Learn about important security updates that have been made in Emerson s ValveLink software. Database Protection, Database Backup, Digital Signing and File Permissions have all been added for the safety of your data. This session will dive into the use and configuration of these features and the benefits that they bring. Data integrity is of the utmost importance in today s world, specifically the Nuclear industry. Emerson continues to support these efforts. Most units were designed for baseload operation, whereas today they re being cycled to account for an increased renewable portfolio and low natural gas prices. These shifts in operating profiles are causing equipment failure more often. Additionally, in the past, plants were well staffed which made it easy to maintain operations. Today, however, staff and expertise are depleted and maintaining plant assets is much more challenging.
