1 1 (7) DAY 1 TUESDAY 6 JUNE :00-10:30 Words of welcome Product News 2017 This presentation gives insight on the latest new features in NAPA and future plans of our solutions. 10:30-11:00 COFFEE 11:00-12:30 The Application of Hull Structure Design with NAPA Steel, HHI Through pilot test of NAPA Steel in 2016, Hyundai Heavy Industries could find its potential benefits and adopted it as the main 3D CAD System for initial and basic structural design. In this presentation, HHI will introduce the results of the pilot test and the application of NAPA for hull structure design in contracted vessels. Salvaging ships using the improved NAPA ER task, DNV GL DNV GL is implementing NAPA ER globally for emergency response during The presentation will cover the process of using NAPA for supporting decision making in emergency situations and show some new and improved features of NAPA ER. 12:30-13:30 LUNCH Integrated manager for trim and stability booklet, HHI Hyundai Heavy Industry have conducted a lot of shipbuilding projects using the NAPA program since We use the integrated manager made by HHI for fast and automatic work, which is making loading conditions at initial design stage and trim and stability booklet at basic and detail design stage. The main purpose of this manager is to summarize and output all information for trim and stability booklet. With this manager, about one hundred and fifty inquiry projects are carried out and seventy vessels are delivered per year. 13:30-15:00 How to simplify the life of a Structural designer, Fincantieri The presentation will show how NAPA Steel is used at Fincantieri in pre and post contract phases. It will especially highlight the latest improvements done at Fincantieri and the future plans for further utilizing the NAPA Steel model for various purposes. Introduction to multiport loading, DSME When a vessel sails for multi-port, especially alongside a river, the vessel has separate limit conditions for each route between ports. Therefore, the vessel should be considered to maximize SG of cargo within limitation of draft and filling ratio by the loading manager. DSME has developed a multi-port loading manager to find max.sg of cargo and reduce human error using an optimization algorithm of GRG method (nonlinear constraint).
2 2 (7) Shaping a Ship, Meccano Meccano has developed during 2016 and 2017 a small luxury cruise vessel (~ 130m) for a big Scandinavian shipyard. The presentation explains the work done from basic design to class approval. In addition of other design, Meccano has completed the structural classification drawings for the ship. These drawings are prepared completely in NAPA Drafting and imported from a detailed NAPA Steel model. The 3D model was also used for outfitting as a reference, for several detailed structural studies and for FEM meshing. 15:00-15:30 COFFEE 15:30-17:00 Basic Design One Model connecting all Disciplines with NAPA Steel, Fosenyards The presentation will highlight the general experience and impression of a new NAPA Steel user organization in starting the usage of NAPA Steel in practical ship design. It will show current application and plans on connecting hydro, outfitting, machinery and structural design with the NAPA product model and by using new NAPA tools. Advanced NAPA based reporting, Surma Modern ship design process includes several multidisciplinary analysis that produce significant amount of data. The result is a complicated network of information, from which it may be difficult to find the key factors affecting the capabilities of the vessel. Traditionally, the analysis results have been static documents which do not capture the interaction between the disciplines. The designer may be provided, for example, with the final survivability level but not with the factors which actually lead to that level and how the design could be improved. This means that reporting of the results should also seamlessly support the design process. As many of the naval architectural assessments are done with NAPA software package, it makes sense to use this environment also for reporting. This presentation describes a novel HTML-based dynamic reporting concept implemented using macro writing and NAPA's native functionality for exporting information in HTML-format. A case study is presented using multidisciplinary survivability assessment as an example on how the informative, interactive and user-driven reporting eases the designers work. Finally some ideas regarding the different possibilities of future enhancements and other applications are discussed. Customer feedback in NAPA Development Customer involvement has an important role in NAPA Development. Here we share some examples of the user-centered-development practices through examples Closing common meeting 18:00 DINNER
3 3 (7) DAY 2 WEDNESDAY 7 JUNE 2017 NAPA STEEL NAVAL ARCHITECTURE 9:00-10:30 New in Designer and Drafting New improvements and tools for NapaBasic This presentation will give a deeper information on NAPA Designer and Drafting latest development steps. It will show with practical examples the use cases the intended way of using these new features and taking the full benefit of latest development. This presentation introduces some recent developments and tools for NapaBasic, including foreach-loop, speed improvements, macro profiling and coverage tools, new macro editor and debugger and plans for further improvements. Introduction to new FEM and CAD Interfaces Time-domain simulation for regulatory flooding analysis During 2016 there has been a major effort in development to introduce the NAPA FEM meshing functionality in the NAPA Designer. In addition of FEM meshing there is also remarkable improvements in sharing NAPA product model information in several new file interfaces which provide both import and export functionality to many general CAD and viewer software. Realistic, yet practical, assessment of intermediate phases of flooding in damage stability calculations is a challenge for ship designers. An advanced approach, using time-domain flooding simulation, is presented for calculation of the intermediate stages of flooding within the context of the SOLAS 2009 regulations. Practical examples for a large cruise ship design are provided, mainly concentrating on cross-flooding problems. All cases are calculated both with time-domain flooding simulation and with current industry standard simplified methods. The results are compared and thoroughly discussed, pointing out the pros and cons of applying simulation to regulatory flooding analyses. New improvements and tools for NapaBasic NAPA ServerDB and Future Multiuser Support This presentations introduces some recent developments and tools for NapaBasic, including foreach-loop, speed improvements, macro profiling and coverage tools, new macro editor and debugger and plans for further improvements. NAPA ServerDB is part of NAPA offering, providing a new way to share and collaborate on a project.
