3 About Me Junior undergraduate Mechanical Engineering student that is passionate about the application of thermodynamic and heat transfer theory to design and applications. My work experience represents a progression through the ranks of engineering technician with proven leadership skills and increased responsibility culminating to the roles of sub-contractor, business owner and lead engineering technician. My work experience includes diverse geographic locations including the Hawaiian Islands, New York, California, Minnesota and Japan. Objective: Seeking the position of Mechanical Engineering co-op with an organization encompassing the design and application of theory primarily focused on thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and heat transfer principles with a guiding principle in sustainability. I hope to develop and further my skills and apply them on company projects that positively impact clients, the company and the community. Lead Engineering Technician H.I.E Holdings Honolulu, HI The company's line of business includes the manufacturing of coffee concentrates and extracts in powered, liquid, or frozen form. My responsibilities included overseeing manufacturing line for high speed, high volume precision PET blow moulding process manufacturing for bottled water. Performed the design, integration, and improving of manufacturing systems related to blow molding processes, quality control, packaging including all processes from raw material to finished product. Refine blow molded product designs to increase manufacturability and decrease costs through the implementation of LEAN manufacturing techniques. Lead Engineering Technician H and U Inc Honolulu, HI Manufacturer of tailor-made ramen noodles, pre-cooked yakisoba, udon, Okinawa soba, saimin and Japanese soba. My responsibilities included overseeing manufacturing line for Japanese food products including facilities, packaging, quality control, operator safety and all processes from raw material to finished product. Perform process upgrades, expansions, integration s and new process design. Coordinate bi-lingually proprietary equipment and parts ordering overseas. Lead role in new equipment selection, calibration and start-up of new manufacturing facility in Carlstadt, NJ. Identify and execute projects and cost saving initiatives that support business including a primary focus on sustainability, reducing carbon footprint and incorporating a "triple bottom line" business model. 4

Supervise activity of contractors, vendors, and outside engineering firms, assuring safe and proper installations to protect assets in all locations. Prepare capital project estimates and long-range budgets and projections. Hire, train, schedule and and support technician and administration staff. Actively contribute to overall company health and growth by maintaining strong, long term client relations and well equipped and trained staff. 6 Project Title: NASA Robotic Mining Competition Aim: To design and build a mining robot that can traverse the simulated Martian chaotic terrain. NASA developed this competition to find alternative practices of harnessing resources on off-world exploration sites called in-situ resource utilization (ISRU). (2) Final Frame Design. Analysis: This design represented my first Solidworks assembly and allowed me to successfully see my CAD design from sketch to final working product. (2) Welded 410 stainless steel upper frame. 8 Project Title: Variable Condition Buoyancy Control of Task Orientated Underwater Vehicle with Compressed CO 2 Aim: To design a buoyancy control system for an underwater vehicle that can operate autonomously in deep space conditions. 10 Project Title: Flow Control Method and Design for Rain Catchment System Aim: To design a water delivery system that disperses this rainfall over the longest period of time given the climate of our location and annual rainfall data and limitations of the location of the rain barrel itself. Analysis: This design allowed me to work extensively with building management and successfully divert over 7k gallons of water annually. (2) Final design. (2) CAD design. (3) Installation. 11 Project Title: Micro- Zone Management Modification Commercial HVAC Systems. (2) Aim: To design a aesthetically similar diffuser that improves upon the conventional in-line duct VAV system by allowing control in micro zones. Analysis: This experiment allowed me pursue a possible solution to the high cost of energy in Hawaii and the increasing demand for climate controlled public buildings. Final prototype design. (2) Micro controller prototype. 11
12 Project Title: Traction Control in Granular Media Aim: Provide a useful tool to the operator in avoiding situations where wheel slip is mission critical. The data we collect experimentally should provide a good platform for quantifying motor performance in varying conditions. (2) Analysis: This experiment took place during my early interest in fluid mechanics and the opportunity to mathematically model sand as a fluid. Experiment set-up. 13 Project Title: Modeling terrain and center of mass with LIDAR and Point Cloud data. Aim: To provide a physical model of the topography of ancient Hawaiian land divisions. Analysis: This short project provided me exposure to modeling and translating meta data into physical models used for cross disciplinary studies. Solidworks model of point cloud data. 15 Project Title: HD Rendering in Solidworks Aim: To provide Hawaiian Airlines with presentation style images of part. Analysis: This project allowed me to design many versions of a part that was to be aesthetically real and be presented to and Engineering team. 15
16 Student Organization: Engineers for a Sustainable World, Hawaii Chapter Aim: Engineers for a Sustainable World, Hawaii Chapter was founded to actively engage Hawaii student engineers with pre-college students, University of Hawaii faculty, the local community and all STEM departments to initiate conversation on, design and implement projects of varying scope that directly address creating a more sustainable campus, local and global way of life. Outcomes: By beginning this student organization in Hawaii with Dr. Hanai, I believe we were able to help provide education with sustainable focus to future engineers, provide the community/campus with new ideas to promote sustainability and create infrastructure for students and faculty to continue this work for years to come.
