5 NF-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Mission Mapping the entire world s ocean floor by 2030 Benefit of mapping the ocean floor Safe navigation at sea Tsunami wave propagation forecast Prediction of climate change Monitoring marine biodiversity Progress Less than 15% of the world s ocean floor was mapped at the start of the project in Aug ,000km 2 of data has been collected from the private sector alone in the first year of the project 5
