8 DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES Departmental of Electronics &Communication Engineering AThree Day Workshop on PCB Design was organized for II year students on 28th-30thAugust, Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest U. Kumar, Project Engineer, Silicon Touch Technologies delivered detailed lecture about importance of PCB design while doing projects. In the workshop, students gained knowledge on PCB maker software and different layout designs by practically participating Students showed keen interest in understanding the different models PCB design. ONE DAY SEMINAR on HAM RADIO A One Day Seminar on HAM RADIO is organized on 28th June 2017 by Department of in which T.Satish & A.Suresh, Tiruvidhula & Associates featured the Radio. The Semina aims to enable the amateurs (Hams) to build their own electronics and communication project by adding a transmitter to radio. Amateur radio operator or HAM is an interesting person whose curiosity is piqued by unusual things or enjoy talking to other people. He wanted to understand a little about Broadcasting, Computers, Space, Information Sciences, Electronics and Communication & Information Technology tools even as a hobby. It can work as two way communication device, just like telephone but can be used purely for non commercial purposes. Amateur Radio (HAM) operators or just HAMS are identified with a call sign issued by Ministry of Communications & IT to each individual. At the time of natural calamities, HAM radio will be helpful to telecommunication. Live demonstration on HAM radio help students practically understand the radio. VISIT TO DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR STATION Staff and students of Department of Department visited the Doppler Weather Radar Station, India Metrological Department, Machilipatnam on 26th September 17 and on 6th & 10th October 17. The visit focused on ratical utilization of the radars and understand how they worked. Mr Ashok Kumar briefed session before the visit. During the visit the students were taken to the following departments. 1) Weather Monitoring, 2) Cyclone Detection, 3) RADOME, 4) Digital Laboratory. Radar station targets are clouds, raindrops and to measure wind speed & wind direction. The management of radar station showed the students different aspects of experiments like calculating the temperature using thermometers. They showed both in dry and wet weather calculation. They showed the different equipment that are used to measure the temperature of sun, weather forecasting, for calculating parameters using raindrops..the visit was very fruitful, especially for the faculties handling subjects related to RADAR and communication TIME FREQUENCY ANALYSIS OF SPEECH SIGNAL Department of, NRIIT organized a Guest Lecture on Time Frequency Analysis of Speech Signal on 30th August Dr. V. Anil Kumar, Professor from IIIT Hyderabad addressed the final year students.. Speaking on the occasion, the Guest of the day Dr. Anil Kumar, delivered all details about the time-domain waveform, which shows how the amplitude of the signal changes over periods of time.the lecture inspired the students so much that they were attentive and showering numerous doubts for clarification.
