1 ICETET-12(5 th International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering & Technology) under TEQIP-II ICETET-125 th International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering & Technology was inaugurated on 5 th November 2012 at Japan.The general chairs of the conference were Dr.Preeti Bajaj-Director GHRCE, Dr. Shigeaki Shiotani, Professor, Kobe University-Graduate School Of Maritime Sciences Japan and Dr.Ajith Abraham-Director MIR Labs USA.Dr.Shigeaki ShiotaniKobe University Japan, Dr.Yutaka HataUniversity of Hyogo, Japan were also present for the Inaugural ceremony. The conference was organized under TEQIP-II. Galaxy of international speakers included Dr.Koji Murai, Kobe University Japan, Dr.Syoji Kobashi, University of Hyogo, Japan, Dr.Tadahiko Murata, Kansai University Japan, Dr.Takayuki Fujita, University of Hyogo, Japan, Dr. N.C.Shivaprakash, Professor, IISc Bangalore and other members of ICETET2012 were prominently present for the occasion. It is Technically Co- Sponsored by IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society [SMCS], IEEE Bombay Section SMC Chapter, IEEE Japan SMC Chapter, JST ERATO Maenaka Human Sensing Fusion Project, Japan Ergonomics Society Kansai Branch, Himeji Initiative in Computational Medical and Health Technology, University of Hyogo.It is Supported by SMCS Technical Committee on Soft Computing, SMCS Technical Committee on Human Centered Transportation System, SMCS Technical Committee on Cognitive Computing, SMCS Technical Committee on Systems Safety and Security. The inaugural programme began with the Inaugural addressing by Dr.Preeti Bajaj, General Chair ICETET-12. In her speech she summarized journey of ICETET. ICETET-12 has provided a platform for the young academicians to exhibit their research work and conveyed to august gathering about having pleasure to host the

2 veteran researchers from all over the globe. She further quoted that ICETET has become an International brand. She also quoted that research should not have any boundaries of Institute, state and nation. She appealed the participants to explore all the technical sessions as experiences and perspectives are very much important to the world of science and technology. Dr.Shigeaki ShiotaniKobe University Japan, welcome the dignitaries and authors from various countries. He informed the gathering regarding various achievements and milestones of Kobe University and also about the collaboration with ICETET. In his speech Dr.Yutaka HataUniversity of Hyogo, Japanwelcome the participants and appreciated the efforts of GHRCE to host such a wonderful conference which will help to bridge the research collaborations abroad. The achievements and journey of ICETET was shown through a video. Dr.Tadahiko Murata was Chair of TechnicalCommittee of Soft Computing, IEEE SMC Society, and is currently Chair oftechnical Committee of Aware Computing, IEEE SMC Society, and JapanChapter Chair of IEEE SMC Society during He talked on social simulation including predicting a future, finding reasonsof current situations, or noticing problems of a target society. Recently thisresearch field attracts a lot of researchers from computer science, artificialintelligence, economics, political science, and so on. The Social Networks are applied to

4 problems like low electoral voting and it is found that social networks can increase the electoral voting with higher accuracy. Dr.Takayuki Fujita delivered a talk on Flexible sensor for Human monitoring system by using P(VDF/TrFE) Thin Film. He explained that continuous monitoring of human physical & mental conditions are heavily required solving issues to realize a high QoL(Quality of Life) society. The human condition data is especially, heartbeat, ECG, respiration and blood pressure are very important vital signs to prevent a human sudden disease such as heart attack. He fabricated a novel sensor to monitor the heartbeat and respiration which is made on a flexible thin film of Polyvinylidene Fluoride. Apart from this there were 8 parallel technical sessions onspecial Session on Human Sensing Devices, Hardware Design, Special Session on Biomedical Informatics Inspired by Natural Computing, Database and Soft Computing, Special Session on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics, Navigation Systems, Simulation and High Performance Computing for Healthcare and Environmental Management, Special Session on Nursing-Care Applications. The pure Science, Engineering and Technology blend with lot of real experimentation to various fields from pharmacy to social issues, politics; local government issues like poor voting, poor hospitals and medicine identification, packaging were discussed and triggered the global audience. If the same is adapted and carried out in Indian context employability and slow down in Information technology both major problems will be addressed. This shall definitely pave the way for new developments in engineering & technology.

5 Dr.Tadahiko Murata delivering Invited Talk on Social Networks Dr.Takayuki Fujita Delivering a talk at ICETET-12 Authors delivering presentation at ICETET-12 ICETET-12 was concluded on 7 th Nov Day three also witnessed the technical presentations by researchers in the area of Special Session on Maritime Safety, Special Session on Undersea Systems.

6 It was followed by Invited Talk by Dr. Gerald Schaefer, Loughborough University, England where he leads the Vision, Imaging and Autonomous Systems Research Division. He talked on Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) which has been an active research areafor more than two decades. In the Special session on Maritime Safety, the papers from various marine universities were presented. Japan is surrounded by sea and naval accidents are regular in Japan. In the session the authors discussed regarding Process of Judgment Error on Collision Risk by Modeling Judgment, Cognitive Model of Maritime Navigation and Its Use for Collision Accident Analysis, Methods for Quantifying the Risks of Human Error from Experiments with the Ship Bridge Simulator etc which fetched the attention of the gathering. The solutions for collision avoidance were also discussed. Best Paper Award was given to Dr.Kenji Yoshimura, National Maritime Research Institute (NMRI)-Japan. The best Industrial Paper Award was given to Dr.S.S.Dorle, G.H.Raisoni College of Engg Nagpur. Two best student paper Awards were also given which were won by Japanese university students. In his speech, Dr.Yutaka Hata-Director HIMED Japan said that HIMED will have a MoU with GHRCE Nagpur. He gave thanks to all the committee members. Dr Preeti Bajaj said that it was all possible because of untiring efforts of her ICETET group. The core committee of ICETET along with Dr Bajaj who is also founder general Chair of the ICETET have been stationed to shape the event since a week at Japan. Those who have put in untiring efforts since last one year to happen this event are Dr.Preeti Bajaj, Dr.Koji Murai, Dr.Syoji Kobashi, Dr. Tadahiko Murata, Dr. Amol Deshmukh, Dr.Sanjay Dorle, Dr Santosh Jaju, Prof. Kantilal Joshi. Of course such event wouldn t have been possible without support by Hon Chairman Shri Sunilji Raisoni and Hon Mrs. Shobhaji Raisoni, and management.
