2 Dear Colleague, In the last few years Norwegian oil production rates fell more than any other country globally. Production from Norway s giant mature fields is declining and there is a window of opportunity to extract these resources effectively. It is now a matter of urgency for the industry to innovate and collaborate so it is not missed. Some of the best tools we have at our disposal to increase recovery from mature fields are from further field development, and applying technology such as Enhanced Recovery Techniques. At the same time, the integrity and safety of the assets must be maintained or upgraded. With this in mind, this year s programme has been specifically designed to address these challenges through case studies, discussion sessions and interactive panel debates. 3 CONFERENCE AGENDA Pre Conference Focus Day, 21 st May 2012 There are many technologies available for operators of mature fields, and these technologies are often not new it is more a case of selecting and applying the most economical solution Registration & Refreshments Examining the Business Case for Enhanced Oil Recovery: What are the options? There are different kinds of enhanced oil recovery: Thermal EOR, Miscible EOR, and Chemical EOR each with their own unique characteristics Selecting and applying the most appropriate type is critical in making the EOR application cost effective for the particular field you operate on Thermal EOR is often applicable to heavier crudes reducing the viscosity through the injection of steam Chemical EOR Injection of a dilute solution of a water soluble polymer to increase the viscosity of the injected water can increase the amount of oil recovered in some fields In addition, a range of different applications will also be presented in alignment to particular field characteristics demonstrating the potential gains in production achievable We will be examining the business case and examining all the options involved Networking Lunch Technical Insight Session: Boosting recovery from low or reduced pressure wells using Jet pumps Jet pumps can be used with compressors to boost production from low pressure wells This can be used to increase recovery by up to 30% Examine some of the case studies and particular hub developments which this has been applied on using the excess pressure of nearby satellites to boost the pressure of reduced or depleted fields Restoring pressure to the main field can significantly increase the life cycle of the asset, and maintain commercial levels of production for many more years End of the Pre Conference Focus Day
