1 Product Manufacturing Lab (BTME-1001/1002) This lab is common for B. Tech. 1 st year students of all engineering discipline. In this lab the students is expected to learn the critiques of basic process required to manufacturing a product through demonstration and practice. After completion of this course the students will be able to manufacture the simple product of their own choice. This laboratory is comprised of five shops namely: Lathe machine shop, Bosch Tool Shop, Welding Shop, Sheet Metal Shop and Soldering Shop. PITAMBER KUMAR CHAUDHARY, professor in Production Division of School of Mechanical Engineering and working with this system since more than four years. His highest qualification is Ph.D. which he has earned in 2012 from Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, BHU, Varanasi. He has a rich experience (about 15 years) of teaching and worked as a faculty at various engineering colleges of Uttar Pradesh. He has authored 5 papers in peer reviewed journal and 9 papers in conferences. He has guided 4 M. Tech and 4 B.Tech Projects. He is also qualified in GATE-2001 with percentile and All India Rank 174. He is elected as a Fellow member and of Institution of Engineers (India) and having certificate for practicing as Chartered Engineer.

3 MANUFACTURING PRACTICES (MEE252) This lab is in the curriculum of fourth semester of B. Tech. 2st year students of mechanical engineering discipline. In this lab the students is expected to learn the critiques of basic manufacturing operations. This laboratory is comprised of two shops namely: Machine shop- 1 and Machine shop-2. In manufacturing practice students are exposed to various machining process in which a piece of raw material is cut into a desired final shape and size by a controlled material-removal process. In this lab Students are expected to learn metal cutting technologies including conventional processes such as turning, boring, shaping, drilling, milling, grinding etc. After completion of this course the students will be able to manufacture the simple components of their own choice. 4 Machine Shop-2 4. Profile of the Lab In-charge Dr. P. Tamilchelvan is a Professor in Production division of School of Mechanical Engineering. He has done his Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu. His Research Area is Explosive cladding, Optimization and Metal forming processes. He has done many Research Internship as Visiting Research Scholar at distinguished places such as Kumamoto University, Japan. He also done the collaborative Research Work carried out at Kumamoto University, Japan, on the emerging topic Pulsed Power Science, Shock Wave and Condensed Matter. He has published 8 papers in peer reviewed journals.

In this lab the students is expected to learn the basics of casing and welding through practical exposure. The objective of this course is to carry out exercise in foundry shop and welding shop. On completion of this course, the students will be able to produce simple cast components, join the metals using different welding techniques and to carry out exercise using different welding techniques. 6 Fluid Mechanics Lab (CHE/MEE 221) Fluid mechanics lab includes application based experiments on fluid statics and dynamics. It also includes understanding conservation of mass, momentum, and energy for incompressible fluid flow. Apparatus defines flow behaviour of fluid as laminar and turbulent flow, dimensional analysis and similitude. In this course student can develop the knowledge of flow through pipes and boundary layer concepts, pumps and compressors and applications to engineering problems. 8 4. Profile of the Lab In-charge Namrata Upadhyay is an Assistant Professor in School of Chemical Engineering. She has done M. Tech. in Chemical Engineering (IIT BHU, Varanasi, INDIA) and B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering (Banasthali University, Rajasthan, India). Her research area is Waste water treatment and nano- materials. She is continuing the teaching profession since 2.6 years. HMT Lab (MEE 352) Heat and Mass Transfer Laboratory caters to the needs of B. Tech. Mechanical Engineering and Automobile Engineering programmes. These experiments of this lab course help the students to understand all the three modes of heat transfer, namely conduction, convection and radiation practically. These experiments also pave way for inculcating certain innovative skills in the students making them to use the above experimental setups as starting point to take up higher level experimental studies in Heat Transfer. During this short period, the discipline has gone from manual drawing to the use of 3D computer modeling. As a result, knowledge of graphics is much more useful and transportable in the increasing global engineering enterprises. He received his undergraduate from National Institute of Technology, Raipur, Chhattisgarh and Postgraduate from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, West Bengal. He received his Ph.D. degree in mechanical and Industrial Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India. He is currently working in the area of boiling heat transfer and two phase flow of pure and quasi-azeotropic refrigerants. He has 5 years teaching and research experiences.
