Theory learnt will be applied using our state-of-the-art Gas Ultrasonic Meter Sizing Tool, Liquid Turbine Meter and Control Valve Sizing Tool, Liquid Ultrasonic Meter Sizing Tool and Orifice Flow Calculator simulators. This course is designed to provide delegates with a detailed and up-to-date overview of fundamentals and practice of liquid and gas flowmetering. The course will address both single and multiphase flows. Participants will acquire the necessary knowledge in order to choose the correct flowmeter for a particular application. Participants will be able to resolve any ensuing problems in relation to unreliability and inaccuracy of flowmeter readings. IE250 - Page 1 of 8.

2 Course Objectives Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:- Apply and gain an in-depth knowledge and skills in liquid and gas flowmetering Discuss the flowmetering, process measurement, measurement of pressure, measurement of temperature and density and flow measurement Explain fluid mechanics of pipe flows and flowmeter including differential pressure type, variable area, fluid oscillatory flowmeters, rotary inferential meter, electromagnetic flowmeters, positive displacement flowmeters, ultrasonic flowmeters, mass flow measurement and miscellaneous devices Recognize the flowmeter calibration and flowmeter installation guidance Consider the flowmeter costs and employ the proper procedure of flowmeter selection Carryout the proper methodology of quality assurance in accordance with the international standards Define and classify the types, terms and problems of multiphase flow measurement Determine the basic concepts of multiphase flows and multiphase flowmeters Distinguish the current main supplier of multiphase flowmeters and select flowmeters properly Discuss the future development in flow measurement Digital Training Kit PetroLab Engineering believes in the importance of new technology in the effective transfer of knowledge and information to its participants. 3 Course Instructor This course will be conducted by the following instructor(s). However, we have the right to change the course instructor(s) prior to the course date and inform participants accordingly: Dr. John Sproston, PhD, MSc, BSc, is a Senior Mechanical & Instrumentation Engineer with over 35 years of industrial experience in Piping System, Pipelines, Process Equipment, Gearboxes, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Diesel Engines, Pumps, Compressors, Heat Exchangers, Valves, Flowmeters, Process Control and Instrumentation. He is currently a Senior Consultant to various industries in Europe, United States, Asia and the Middle East wherein he provides consultancy services on the application, maintenance and operational constraints of flowmeters, gas turbines and diesel powered engines in the oil & gas industries. During his career life, Dr. Sproston held key positions in Rolls Royce where he was largely involved in the design, application, operation and maintenance of diesel powered engines and turbine blading subject to pre-specified distributions of pressure for aircraft engines. During this period, he has also been closely involved in various aspects of Turbomachinery, Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics where he has become a recognized authority in these areas. Later, he joined the academic staff of University of Liverpool in UK as a Senior Professor of Mechanical & Instrumentation Engineering Courses. A substantial part of his work has been concerned with detailed aspects of flowmetering both of single & multiphase flows. He has supervised doctoral research students in this area in collaboration with various European flowmeter manufacturers. Dr. Sproston has PhD, Master and Bachelor degrees in Mechanical Engineering. He has published about 120 technical papers and has contributed to various textbooks related to Mechanical & Instrumentation Engineering fields. He was a member and held chairmanships over various governmental, industrial and research committees in the Mechanical Engineering sector. Training Methodology This interactive training course includes the following training methodologies as a percentage of the total tuition hours:- 30% Lectures 30% Workshops & Work Presentations 20% Case Studies & Practical Exercises 20% Videos, Software & General Discussions The course instructor may modify the above training methodology before or during the course for technical reasons with no prior notice to participants Course Fee US$ 4,250 per Delegate.
