7 Local Networks Role LNs are prime contact point for members and public LNs deliver events that meet the local needs But, are activities consistent with IET aims, coherent in messages to audiences (other members and the public), and helping to meet members and IET needs? 10 So, that is the why LNs and why recruitment Local Networks Support Project has produced some solutions on how to tackle the task

11 But first, some lessons learned and principles in planning events A lot of effort is required for successful events, but everyone has learned the hard way LNSP has captured lessons and built a pack of best practice A LN Event Manager does not have to do it all a template allows work to be shared Even those who have run lots of events can benefit from checklists Templates allow new Event Managers to concentrate more on content of event than the admin

12 Developing an Event Decide what you want to achieve the key first step, what is the Outcome that is being sought from the project? Who is the target audience who needs to be there? Choose the content and the speaker What other support is needed roles for committee members? Keep on top of the budget Set up the event Market it Make it run smoothly roles on the day Follow up what did the audience, speaker and Committee think? Evaluate and learn was the Outcome achieved?
