Dry Cntact Sensr DCS15 User Manual Help Versin updated till firmware 404i / SP456 Cpyright 2012, AKCess Pr C., Ltd..

Intrductin / What is a Dry Cntact Sensr The Dry Cntact sensr r DCS15 is a simple cnnectin t burglar alarms, fire alarms r any applicatin that requires mnitring by the unit. Dry cntact sensrs are user definable and can be used t detect many different inputs such as UPS status, security systems, air cnditining status. These general purpse switches can be either input r utput. When used as an utput it can sink up t 20 mas. Yu can select the utput vltage by setting the Output Level t a Lw r a High. When set t Lw, the pin will utput 0 vlts. When set as a High, the pin will utput 5 vlts. When used as an input a switch will retain any errr cnditin until it is read via SNMP. Therefre, if a switch encunters a critical cnditin at any time, it must reprt that cnditin befre it can return t a nrmal state. Input pins can be used t detect whether r nt an input switch is pen r clsed. In cmbinatin with external sensrs, input pins can detect whether a dr r windw is pen r clsed, if there is a water incursin and many ther cnditins. The input pins wrk by sensing the presence f a vltage level n an input pin. When the switch is pen, the vltage is different than when the switch is clsed. T test a dry cntact input, wire grund t ne side f the switch. Grund is always pin 8 n the cnnectr. Wire the ther side f the switch t the switch sensr. Set the Nrmal State field t Open. Set the Directin field t Input. When the switch clses, the input pin will be shrted t grund and the switch will change state frm nrmal t critical Specificatins & Features: Measurement Indicatin - Alarm r Nrmal Cmmunicatins cable - RJ-45 jack t sensr using UTP Cat 5 wire. Sensr type - pen/clsed cntact switch Pwer surce: pwered by the unit. N additinal pwer needed. The unit aut detects the presence f the Vltage Sensr Measurement rate - multiple readings every secnd Full Autsense including discnnect alarm Dry cntact sensr OID is: 1.3.6.1.4.1.3854.1.2.2.1.18.1.3.X Maximum CAT5/6 Cable Extensin Run Length: 300 meters r 1000 feet. Dry Cntact cnnectin FAQ Questin #1. Can I cntrl the Dry Cntact Sensr via SNMP? Answer: Yes, yu can use the fllwing SNMP cmmands: - 2 -

SNMPset -m all -v1 -c <cmmunity> <IPAddress>.1.3.6.1.4.1.3854.1.2.2.1.18.1.25.<prt> i <mde> When <cmmunity> is admin passwrd <IPAddress> is IP address f the unit <prt> is the Prt f pwer relay (default start with 0) <mde> is mde t cntrl allw-sensr-cntrl(1), cycle-on-off-on(8), cycle-off-on-off(7), turn-n(3), turn-ff(4) Differences between Dry Cntacts List f Dry Cntacts; 1. DCS15 (Dry Cntact RJ-45 Sensr cvered in this manual) 2. IO-Digital8 (8 Dry Cntact Inputs r Outputs n a single prt (securityprbe base unit nly) 3. sensrprbe and securityprbe family X20 & X60 Dry Cntact Inputs. 4. E-pt16 Dry Cntact Inputs. This list includes the DCS15 (RJ-45 dry cntact sensr), IO-Digital8, the X20 and X60 extra dry cntact inputs (n the SP8-X20/X60 & SEC-X20/X60 SEC-5E-X20/X60, SEC-5ES-X20/X60, SEC-5ESV-X20/X60 units), and the E-pt16 expansin units. See each separate prduct manual fr mre details. The extra dry cntact inputs n the X20 and X60 units can be switched frm pt-islated mde t nn-pt islated mde (jumper setting n the bards), where the E-pt16 inputs are all shipped as pt islated and cannt be cnfigured as nn-pt islated. Because f this, the E- pt16 inputs d require an input vltage as the mdule will nt supply this vltage. See the E-pt16 prduct manual fr cnnecting simple switches t the mdules inputs. The DCS15 and extra dry cntact inputs n the X20/X60 units d nt require any input vltage if left in their default cnfiguratin f nn-pt islated (see the sensrprbe8-x20/x60 manual fr these jumper settings). The E-pt16 (16 pt islated dry cntact inputs) expansin unit is used when the custmer requires inputs f mre than 5 Vlts DC up t 24 vlts DC, hence the use f the term ptislated. The fllwing are the differences between the E-pt16 and the IO-digital8 (8 inputs r utputs n a single sensr prt) and DCS15 (single input r utput n a single sensr prt). Cmpared t the E-pt16, the DCS15 and the IO-digital8 is fr 5 Vlts r less and they have the added advantage f supplying 5 Vlts utput and can sync 20 milliamps. This wuld be used if the inputs require 5 Vlts r less r the requirements are a 5 Vlt utput. The IO-Digital8 has 8 separate inputs r utputs where the DCS15 is the same nly using a single input r utput n a single RJ-45 prt. - 3 -

Cnfiguring the Dry Cntact Sensr a) Plug the sensr int ne f the RJ45 prts n the rear panel f the unit. b) Nw pint yur brwser t the IP address f the unit (default, 192.168.0.100). Next yu need t lgin as the administratr using yur administratr passwrd (default is public ). Yu will then be taken t the summary page. c) Frm the summary page yu need t select the sensrs tab. The layut f the next page will vary depending n yur unit s please refer t yur units manual. d) Yu shuld nw be able t setup the settings fr yur sensr. The specific steps fr setting up the sensr in the units web interface will be cvered belw and in within the next cuple f pages. Nw we will cver the settings that are specific t yur sensr. Directin: The Switch Directin can be either Input r Output. When set as an Input, the sensr will reprt its status as either Nrmal r Critical. The status is Nrmal if the Nrmal State field matches the current value applied t the sensr. Fr example, if the Nrmal State field is High and the input t the sensr is high then the status is Nrmal. The input vltage shuld be limited t 0 t 5 vlts in rder t prtect the sensr. If the Directin f the sensr is Output, the sensr can be used t drive external equipment. Descriptin f Status When Nrmal: This field is the custm descriptin, which will be displayed in the Status field when the dry cntact sensr is Nrmal. Examples fr this field are: Dr Open, Pump Turned On, Light Turned On, etc Descriptin f Status When Critical: This field is the custm descriptin, which will be displayed in the Status field when the dry cntact sensr is Critical. Examples fr this field are: Dr Clsed, Pump Turned Off, Light Turned Off, etc Output Level: The Switch Output Level field can be either High/+5 Vlts r Lw/GND. When set t a High, the utput value f 5 vlts will be applied t the switch. When set t a Lw, the Output Level field will depend upn the value f Directin. If Directin is set t Output and the Output Level field is set t lw, the Switch will surce current in rder t maintain 0 Vlts. If Directin is set t Input and the Output Level field is set t lw, the Switch will becme tri-state. The Output level f High will pull-up the switch even if the Directin is set t Input. Hwever, when the Switch Directin is set t Input and Output level is set t high the Switch will utput a weak pull-up current. This utput can be verridden by shrting the pin t grund. In this way, an external switch can be determined t be pen r clsed. Nrmal State: The Switch Nrmal State field can be either Open/+5 Vlts r Clsed/GND. When set t a +5 Vlts, the input value f 5 vlts will cause the Status t be reprted as nrmal. When set t +5 Vlts, the input value f 0 vlts will cause the Status t be reprted as Critical Lw. When the Switch Nrmal State is set t a Lw, the input value f 5 vlts will cause the Status t be reprted as Critical High, and the input value f 0 vlts will cause the Status t be reprted as nrmal. OID: The dry cntact is a switch-type sensr such as water sensr, mtin sensr, AC Vltage Detectr, relay, and siren & strbe light. The OID is sensrprbeswitchstatus = 1.3.6.1.4.1.3854.1.2.2.1.18.1.3.X - 4 -

Infrmatin n Dry cntact cables: The extensin length f the dry cntact twisted pairs is limited nly by the amunt f electrmagnetic nise in the area. S the lengths can be quite lng, but lng cable lengths may create ccasinal false psitives. These false psitives can be eliminated with the advanced filtering f the dry cntact sensr n the system. Yu can define hw lng a sensr must be in the errr cnditin befre changing state frm Nrmal t Critical. Yu can als define hw lng the sensr must remain in the Nrmal state befre changing frm Critical t Nrmal. Dry Cntact Sensr Setup (input n sensrprbe) It is nrmal fr the dry cntacts t be detected as the security sensr, as it is the same type f sensr when they are first cnnected t yur sensrprbe unit. What yu have t d n the sensrprbe is click n the "Dry Cntacts & Drivers" and enable the dry cntact prt as shwn belw: - 5 -

Nte: See next page fr setting up as utputs n the securityprbe and sensrprbe units. - 6 -

Dry Cntact Sensr Relay Setup (utput n securityprbe) First yu need t cnnect the dry cntact sensr and the temperature sensr t the RJ-45 sensr prt n yur main base unit r yur E-sensr8 expansin mdule. Next yu need t be lgged in as an Administratr, then navigate t the Sensrs page then click n the Dry Cntact I/O sensr prt. In the Nrmal Settings tab as shwn abve yu can nw rename yur sensr, yu need t change the Directin t Output and yu can als rename yur Status descriptins r even change the clr f the descriptins, then click the Save buttn. - 7 -

Since yu are ging t have ur temperature sensr cntrl yur dry cntact sensr relay yu need t change the Cntrl Mde t Ntificatin Cntrl as shwn abve. Yu als need t set the nrmal state f the sensr, whether it will be nrmally Clsed (n) r nrmally Open (ff). These settings need t then be saved by clicking n the Save buttn. - 8 -

Nw that the dry cntact sensr is setup we nw need t setup ur Dry Cntact Actin s yu need t first navigate t the Ntificatin page, then g t the Actin page and click n the Create buttn as shwn in the screen sht abve. This will launch the Create Actin Wizard. Yu will then click n the dwn arrw and chse the Dry Cntact actin frm the drp dwn menu displayed, then clicking n the Next buttn as shwn in the screen sht abve. - 9 -

In the next screen f the wizard yu can name yur actin as yu wish, yu need t select the sensr that was previusly setup frm the Prt drp dwn menu and then chse what actin the utput relay will take when triggered by the temperature sensr. Yu will then click n the Finish buttn t cmplete the actin wizard. Nw we see in the screen sht abve that ur new Dry Cntact Actin has been created and is displayed in ur Actin listing. - 10 -

Nw that ur dry cntact sensr has been setup and ur dry cntact actin has als been setup we will nw link ur temperature sensr t ur utput relay (dry cntact sensr). Nte: Keep in mind yu can substitute the temperature sensr with any ther AKCP sensr fr example a water sensr, smke sensr, AC r DC vltage sensr t cntrl the dry cntact relay utput. We first will click n the Link Sensr T Actin then click n the Create buttn which will launch the Link Sensr T Actin Wizard as shwn in the screen sht abve. In the first screen f the wizard we will first highlight where ur temperature sensr is cnnected in the Mdule field then highlight ur temperature sensr in the Sensr field and click n the Next buttn as shwn in the screen sht abve. - 11 -

The next screen in the wizard we will highlight the status r threshld that we want the relay t turn n r ff in the Status field shwn abve. In the Actin field we will highlight the actin r actins we want the sensr t trigger. Yu can chse multiple actins by hlding dwn the Ctrl key. In ur example abve we als have highlighted an email alert that was previusly setup n the unit. (see the email ntificatin manual fr setting up an email alert n the unit). When clicking n the Finish buttn the Link Sensr T Actin Wizard will be cmpleted. And finally we can see ur temperature sensr and its status is nw linked up with bth ur Email alert and ur Dry Cntact Sensr setup as a Relay utput. - 12 -

In the screen sht abve we can see that when ur temperature sensr reaches the High Warning ur Dry Cntact Sensr Relay is autmatically triggered int the High status. Dry Cntact Sensr Relay Setup (utput n sensrprbe) In the sensrprbe's web interface yu can set yur threshlds, s that if yu had a temperature alert then the unit will send an email, an SNMP trap and als cntrl the dry cntact (dry cntact sensr) setup as an utput relay n anther prt. Yu can have it turn n the relay, turn it ff, r cycle it. Nte: If the screen shts appear t small, just use the view in yur pdf reader t zm in. The fllwing screen shts represent a sensrprbe4 web interface. If yur unit is the lder SP2 r SP8 with the mega128 memry then yur screen may appear differently. - 13 -

The first thing yu need t d is cnnect yur DCS15 (dry cntact sensr) and yur temperature sensr t yur sensrprbe units sensr prts. The DSC15 will be aut sensed as the dry cntact sensr alng with the temp sensr. S the next thing yu need t d is lg in t yur sensrprbes web interface as the Administratr then navigate t the Autsense setting fr the sensr prt that yu cnnected the DCS15 t and Disable the Autsense n this prt as shwn in the screen sht abve. Yu then navigate t the Relay settings fr the prt yu have the DCS15 sensr cnnected t and turn the relay Online. Yu can als rename yur relay, rename yur Status Descriptins. Yu need t make sure the Cntrl is set t Allw Sensr t Cntrl, then yu als need t set the Nrmal cnditin f the relay either n r ff. In ther wrds d yu want the temp sensr t turn n smething r turn ff smething? This needs t be saved in the web interface. - 14 -

After the relay is setup yu need t nw setup yur threshlds n yur temp sensr in the sensr settings screen as shwn abve and Save them. Next yu need t link the temp sensr t yur utput relay, s yu wuld first click n the Relay Cntrl Tab. Nte: As mentined ealier this may appear different if yur using the lder unit. If this is the case yu wuld click n the Sensr Cntrlled Relay buttn. Yu then chse the Relay that yu previusly setup frm the This Sensr Cntrls the Relay n Prt drp dwn list, chse the threshld fr which yu want t relay t be activated n and chse the actin f the relay as shwn in the screen sht abve. Yu then wuld save this. If we navigate back t the Summery page and frce ur temp sensr t be in the alert state we can nw see that the temp sensr can turn n ur utput DCS15 dry cntact relay. - 15 -

This cncludes the Dry Cntact Sensr user manual. Please cntact supprt@akcp.cm if yu have any further technical questins r prblems setting up yur DCS15 r yur alerts. Thanks fr Chsing AKCess Pr! - 16 -
