Butterfly Gift Box Designed By: Amanda Corbet August 2012 This is an extra special gift box that would be perfect for an extra special person! This butterfly shaped box is 8 wide, 6 tall, and 2-1/2 deep. Plenty large enough to fit a nice gift or some candy! I know you ll just love and have fun putting this beautiful butterfly box together and have even more fun when you see the delight in the eyes of the recipient! Instructions Step 1 Print out one copy of the Butterfly Box Template. Use Paper Snips to cut around the lines of the butterfly shape.
Step 2 Cut an 8-1/2 x 12 piece of thin cardboard. Step 3 Apply 2-Way Glue Pen onto the back of the butterfly template and allow it to dry until the glue turns clear. Apply the template onto the bottom of the thin cardboard (Step 3a). Cut around the butterfly shape with Paper Snips leaving a little bit of space between the edge and the line as shown (Step 3b). Use a pencil or pen to write TOP on this butterfly. Remove the template and place onto the remaining thin cardboard. Cut around the butterfly shape with Paper Snips, this time right on the line. Write BOTTOM on this butterfly (Step 3c). Step 3a Step 3b Step 3c Step 4 Cut an 8-1/2 x 12 piece of International Bazaar Designer Series Paper (DSP). Adhere the thin cardboard butterflies onto the DSP with Anywhere Glue Stick. Make sure your writing is facing up. Use Paper Snips to trim the DSP around the thin cardboard butterflies.
Step 4 Step 5 Cut two 6-1/4 x 8-1/2 pieces of Wisteria Wonder card stock. Step 6 Place the bottom butterfly on top of a piece of Wisteria Wonder card stock with the DSP up and trace around the butterfly with a pencil. Remove the cardboard butterfly. Use Paper Snips to cut out the butterfly shape. Write BOTTOM onto the Wisteria Wonder butterfly. Place the top butterfly onto the other piece of Wisteria Wonder card stock with the DSP up and trace around the butterfly with a pencil. Use Paper Snips to cut out the butterfly shape. Write TOP on the butterfly. Step 6 Step 7 Cut four 3 x 9-1/8 pieces of Wisteria Wonder card stock. Cut four 3 x 6-1/4 pieces of Wisteria Wonder card stock. Step 8 Stamp the swirl from the Everything Eleanor stamp set in Wisteria Wonder ink onto all of the pieces cut in Step 7 and the side of the Wisteria Wonder butterflies from Step 6 that do not have the writing.
Step 8 Step 9 Place the 3 side of one of the strips from Step 7 against the top of your Simply Scored Scoring Tool. Score at 3/8. Repeat with the remaining seven strips of card stock from Step 7 (Step 9a). Turn the card stock over to the non-stamped side. Apply Sticky Strip in the location shown (Step 9b). Step 9a Step 9b Step 10 Cut eight 3/4 x 2-1/2 pieces of Wisteria Wonder card stock. With the 3/4 side of one of the strips against the top of your Simply Scored, score at 3/8. Repeat with the remaining seven strips of card stock. Apply Sticky Strip along both 2-1/2 edges of the card stock. Step 11 Remove the Sticky Strip liner from one of the 9-1/8 long pieces from Step 9 and use Paper Snips to cut the tab with the Sticky Strip from the 9-1/8 long edge of the card stock up to the score line approximately every ¼ along the length of the score line. Starting from the middle of one wing on the thin cardboard butterfly bottom, wrap the card stock from the side up around the top to the center of the butterfly adhering each of the tabs onto the writing side of the thin cardboard as you go. You might have to trim the card stock a little with Paper Snips to get it to fit the shape properly (Step 11a). Now you have one section of your wings done (Step 11b).
Step 11a Step 11b Step 12 Repeat Step 11 to adhere the other top portion of the wing and the bottom two portions of the wings. Step 13 Remove the Sticky Strip liner from one side of a strip that you prepared in Step 10. Adhere the strip onto the end of the card stock strip that forms the side of the box. Remove the Sticky Strip liner from the other half of the strip and adhere to the adjoining end of the card stock strip side (Step 13). Repeat with the three remaining joints on the butterfly bottom. Step 13 Step 14 Cut three 2-1/2 x 11 pieces of International Bazaar DSP. Use Anywhere Glue Stick to adhere the DSP strips on the inside of the box sides.
Step 14 Step 15 Apply Multipurpose Liquid Glue onto the non-stamped side of the Wisteria Wonder butterfly bottom (Step 15a). Adhere the butterfly bottom onto the white thin cardboard side of the box bottom (Step 15b). Step 15a Step 15b Step 16 Repeat Steps11 15 to assemble the butterfly box top. Place the butterfly box top onto the box bottom. Step 17 Cut two 3/4 x 9-1/8 piece of Elegant Eggplant card stock. Cut two 3/4 x 9-1/8 piece of Elegant Eggplant card stock. Step 18 Punch one long side of each strip from Step 17 with the Scallop Edge Border punch. Use Anywhere Glue Stick to adhere the 9-1/8 scalloped strips around the top halves of the wings and the 6-1/4 scalloped strips around the bottom halves of the wings. Apply Dazzling Details all around the top corners of the butterfly box top. Allow to dry.
Step 18 Step 19 Cut two 18 long pieces of Whisper White 5/8 organza ribbon. While holding both pieces of ribbon together, tie into a bow. Trim the ends of the ribbon. Separate the box loop so you can tell it s a double bow. Use Glue Dots to adhere the bow onto the box top. Step 20 Stamp the for you label from the Layered Labels stamp set onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Wisteria Wonder ink. Cut out the label with the matching Apothecary Accents Framelits die. Adhere the label onto the box top just below the bow with a couple Stampin Dimensionals. Step 20 Step 21 Run a scrap of Whisper White card stock through the Big Shot in the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die. Adhere each of the butterflies onto the box top with Glue Dots. Step 22 Apply Rhinestones Basic Jewels to the center of each of the butterflies and on either side of the for you label.
