He shared some secrets to his success. 40 years showing at many galleries and even shared that he rents his paintings through the Portland Art Museum. A friend called him recently to say they saw his painting on the series Grimm. It was fun, informative and we all enjoyed the demo and meeting. Member Pat Bailey suggested we take a tour of the Portland Art Museum when the weather warms a bit. It began to snow just as we were about to leave so thankfully we had lots of time to get home. Our next meeting will be on February 14th. ANNOUNCEMENT: WE ARE MEETING BACK AT THE WATER DISTRICT! The Clackamas County Housing Authority is closing the Hillside Community Ctr. until further notice. We have February covered, but need a more permanent place for our meetings. We are asking all of you to let us know if you hear of a church or business that we could meet in until the water district is able to be our meeting place again. Looking forward to our next meeting on Valentines Day! Sincerely, Connie Emmons President

January Demo: Artist Bill Baily Bill Baily gave a lively three step demonstration on watercolor fruit. He started with his personal art journey and took ample time to answer all questions. Bill s go to work environment includes Arches 140 lb cold press paper, Dr. Ph. Martin s Radian Concentrated Watercolors (not Hydrus) from Columbia Art Supplies and a dirty pallet to keep his colors natural and obtain more variations. He began by working wet into wet applying multiple layers of color to the fruit. He also uses drops, toothbrush spatters and salt for surface variation making the appearance very natural. Bill prefers his dark backgrounds have a warm tone so uses full strength Sepia, or Chinese India Ink in 50/50 ratio for a mixed media finish.
