The Awards Committee is soliciting nominations by November 9 for the following Awards: Volunteer of the Year Presented to a member who has generously volunteered time, expertise, talents, and abilities to the Society during the previous year. Award of Merit Presented to a DGS member who has consistently contributed time, talent, expertise, and abilities to the Society over a period of years. 2

Heritage Preservation Award Presented to an individual, group, or organization in recognition of contributions to preserve, conserve, house, or collect family history. Lloyd DeWitt Bockstruck Distinguished Service Award Presented to an individual for outstanding contributions to the genealogical community on a national level. Please submit a recommendation for a specific award through our website. You may also review past recipients at this same link. Alternatively, you may send a nomination via email to: awards@dallasgenealogy.com. Please include a statement explaining why you feel your nominee deserves the recognition. This year s Luncheon on December 12 is especially important because it marks our 60th anniversary as a leader in the genealogical community in north Texas. The 2015 Awards Committee members are Brenda Cannon, chair, and Mic Barnette, Linda Lane, Jean Larson, and Shirley Sloat. DGS Earns Awards From TSGS At the closing banquet of the Texas State Genealogical Society s 2015 Family History Conference on October 31, the Dallas Genealogical Society was honored with two awards. First Place Web site for a Partner Society. The purpose is to promote genealogy and history on the world wide web, sharing information and servicing our global 3

communities; judging criteria include web site design, navigation, contents, and customization. Volunteer of the Year - DGS President Tony Hanson. Judging criteria include genealogical or historical research and service to the society, the community, and the local or genealogical library.
