1 Winter 2017 At the Watercolor s Edge The Texas Watercolor Society Newsletter President s Message by Mary Quiros Dear Fellow Artists, We are quickly moving into spring and I hope everyone has taken the time to paint and enter our 68th Annual National Exhibit. April 1, 2017 is the last day for entries. TWS is looking forward to the exhibition at the Patterson- Appleton Center for the Visual Arts, 400 E. Hickory St., Denton, Texas from June 9 through August 26. The week from June 5-9 will be full. It will begin with a membership meeting on June 5 from 5-6 p.m. followed by a demo with Soon Y. Warren. She will hold a workshop from Tuesday through Friday from 9-4 each day. (There are still a few spaces left for the workshop.) On June 9, TWS will host a reception from 6-8 p.m. to kick off the exhibit. All of these events will be at the Patterson -Appleton Center. Officers of the TWS Board are in favor of changing the current by-law requiring the President to be a Signature Member. The Board feels that by implementing this change, more of our membership will be able to take part in running the Texas Watercolor Society. This change will be voted on at the membership meeting on June 5 and will also be sent to all the membership through Constant Contact. My year as President will come to an end in June and I will become Director-at-Large. The By-Law change will read as follows: Article V Elected Officers Section 1.
