2 COMMERFIAL FRAMING Series 424 KEY FEATURES/PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS Replaces: march 08 Scale: not to scale Series 424 CentreGLAZE shopfront framing measures 102mm x 50mm and has been designed specifically to accept 24mm Insulating Glass Units (IGUs). The 28mm deep glazing pocket is designed to accept thick heavy IGUs and allows glass to be installed easily with room to spare (catering for glass manufacturing tolerance). This deep glazing pocket provides a 12mm bite as required by the IGU manufacturers and ensures compliance with glass warranties. Reinforced tall glazing bead at sill tolerates high negative wind loads. The captive wedge also offers increased security. Glazing wedges are recessed into the framing for a clean appearance. Wide range of sub-sills to cover most installations, including sub-sills with integrated nailing fin ideal for residential installations. Sub-head and two piece sub-jambs. Numerous door thresholds including weather resisting thresholds for external and internal swing doors. Designed for use with Series 52 commercial doors. 5 Series 424 Design Features Frame and glazing pocket designed to accept 24mm insulating glass units (IGUs) with required 12mm bite plus another 4mm to cater for glass production and installation tolerances. Compatible with a large range of other Elevate framing systems, including sliding and bi-fold doors. Snap together and interlocking expansion mullions. Replaces: MARCH 08 Scale: not to scale Matching 50mm thick hinged, pivot or sliding door designed to accept 24mm thick double glazing and a large variety of industry standard hardware. Two fully beaded midrail sizes to choose from (125mm and 200mm deep). Concealed overhead transom also designed to accept 24mm IGUs. We can insert awning sashes into the framing if required. These sashes will also accept 24mm IGUs. COMMERCIAL FRAMING Nailing fin frame option suitable for residential applications. Limitations: There is a sub-head, sub-jamb and sub-sill treatment to choose from to improve the weather performance. But please note dry glazed shopfront framing is not recommended for extreme exposed locations. Allow for mullion expansion on units that are subject to thermal movement. Door glazed with 24mm IGUs will be heavy and this may limit the overall panel size. 6 COMMERFIAL FRAMING Series 424 FRAME DESIGN FEATURES Replaces: march 08 Scale: FULL SIZE Series (101.60) x 50mm frame The glazing pocket has been designed to be compatible with industry standard, but more importantly: Pocket has been designed to give us the required 12mm glass bite on Insulating Glass Units (IGU's). Glazing wedges are fully recessed into the frame. Accepts true captive glazing wedge glazing, this improves security and makes it possible on elevated situations to glaze / re-glaze without scaffolding - from the inside. This depends on the panel size. This pocket will also accept roll-in wedges or wet glazing. Pocketed filler also has screw splines. Two additional screw fixings halve the chances of a joint opening up. 424.FXD.1 Beaded sill Sill also designed to give the 12mm bite: Reinforced glazing bead designed to resist negative forces on the glass unit. Full width custom glazing block. Heavy duty sill designed to carry heavy glass units. Pocketed filler also has screw splines. Two additional screw fixings halve the chances of a joint opening up. We always recommend sub-sills under commercial framing. We have other sub-sills, refer Installation section in Volume 2.

7 Series 424 DOOR DESIGN FEATURES Matching Door Replaces: MARCH 08 Scale: FULL SIZE & NTS Fully beaded 50mm thick heavy duty door stiles and rails (Series 52) designed to accept 24mm IGUs. COMMERCIAL FRAMING The 50mm thick doors are significantly stronger that industry standard light duty 45mm thick. This allows us to make the doors higher and still comply. Doors will accept a large variety of industry standard commercial hardware. Door panels can be fitted with midrails (125mm or 200mm) that will accept 24mm IGUs. Available as hinged, pivot or sliding panels. Top and bottom rail are joined to stiles with heavy duty spigot secured to thick backing plate with high tensile bolts. 52.DOOR PAGE 1.157

U = Ultimate strength limit state (factored yield strength = 104 MPa). These tables have been calculated using nominal section properties. 10 COMMERFIAL FRAMING Series 424 ALTERNATIVE DOOR STILES - FRENCH REBATE Replaces: march 08 Scale: FULL SIZE & NTS Rebated French Meeting Stiles - Series 52 These rebated stiles can be used for internal opening or external opening doors. The lock stile has been designed to accept ANDO, ICON and MIRO lever lock and the keeper stile has been designed to accept ANDO, ICON and MIRO twinbolt hardware as shown below and on the lock hardware pages later in these notes. French keeper stile Lock stile will also accept Lockwood 3580 and Legge 995MF locks with AWS custom nylon lock keeper. The keeper stile would be fitted with finger operated flush bolts when using these types of locks. Co-extruded Santoprene stile seals. 424.HGE.2 Throw bolts on lever lock, twinbolt and flushbolts are secured with custom extruded aluminium bolt guides. French lock stile The ANDO lever lock shown highlights the multi-point option where besides the central, lock bolts are thrown into head and sill. Note: ANDO, ICON and MIRO lever lock sets and twinbolts are designed for residential applications. For high traffic applications use Lockwood 3580 or Legge 995MF locks and finger operated flush bolts. Custom glass filled nylon keeper nests into the keeper stile.

11 Series 424 ALTERNATIVE DOOR STILES - WIDE Replaces: MARCH 08 Scale: FULL SIZE & NTS COMMERCIAL FRAMING Wide meeting wiper/pivot stile Weatherpile door seal or alternative co-extruded Santoprene door seal. The gap between door and frame varies depending on the hinge type used. Series 52 door shown. Wide hinge stile We offer a heavy duty adjustable hinge that's designed to support heavy door panels. Wide meeting wiper/pivot stile This wide stile will accept Lockwood 3572 type locks as shown in the lock detail pages. 424.HGE.8 PAGE 1.161

Replaces: march 08 Scale: FULL SIZE & NTS Glazing pocket drained out of the glazing area into sill/transom sump then out of the system via drainage holes. Transom 424.HGE.1 Series 52 door shown Top rail Glazing pocket will accept 24mm thick IGUs. Recessed glazing wedges give a significantly smarter finish to the framing. These recessed wedges are carried through to doors as illustrated earlier in these notes. Glazing can be: Security glazed as illustrated right, captive wedge external, roll-in wedge internal. Roll-in wedges both sides. Silicone seal external and roll-in wedge internal. Drainage holes allow water out of the glazing pocket area.

COC Transom Top rail Doors can be glazed with captive security wedge (same as framing). 14 COMMERFIAL FRAMING Series 424 PIVOT DOOR JAMBS Centre pivot doors with highlights require a pocketed frame similar to the frame shown right. Doors can be security glazed as shown, with captive glazing wedge on the outside. All centre pivot doors are fitted with weatherpile fringe seal. Jamb Standard extruded aluminium door stop to suit 50mm thick doors. Jamb The door stops can be snapped into any of the Double glazed CentreGLAZE frame sections. The hinges should always be fixed to the main frame member, not the snap-in pocketed filler. For high traffic areas we offer a concealed hinge backing plate as shown (dotted). Polesium manual chain winder comes with key locking as standard. The main feature with this winder is the corrosion resistant base and stainless steel chain. Custom winder base has screen support upstand. Custom awning sash stop snaps into pocketed frame. 424.AWN.1 Internally beaded sash also available. Electric operated winder.
