1 BMW R1100/R1150GS Instructions for Mounting Medium or Large Pack Rack and Micatech Top Case with Mount Kit Thank you for purchasing the Micatech Pack Rack and Top Case, with R1100/1150GS mount kit. Please read through the installation instructions before you begin. If you feel this is beyond your capabilities, we recommend you have it installed by your local service center. The installation takes less than an hour. Please take your time and call us if you have any questions at Overview The mount kit bracket will be installed on the BMW rack using the Mount Kit Hardware. The Pack Rack is then attached to the mount kit bracket using the Pack Rack Hardware. The Micatech Pack Rack can be placed in the front (pillion) or rear position. Pack Rack Mounted in the Front (Pillion) Position Tools Needed: 6 mm Allen wrench Front (Pillion) Position Mount Kit and Hardware: 1 T bracket 1 Plate, 5 x 3.5 inches 1 Hook bracket 2 M6 BMW bolts (provided with customer s BMW rack/passenger grab rail) 2 Shoulder bushings 4 M6 x 18 flat head socket cap screws 2 M6 nylok nuts 2 M6 washers Pack Rack and Hardware: 1 Micatech medium or large Pack Rack 9 M6 x 18 flat head socket cap screws Page 1

2 Pack Rack Mounted in the Front (Pillion) Position Step 1. Pre-assemble the Pack Rack and Brackets Attach the hook bracket and the flat plate to the T bracket, as shown below. Step 2. Install the Pack Rack Hardware To mount the Pack Rack in the front position, remove the pillion seat. Remove the passenger grab handle from the BMW rack and retain the two BMW provided screws.** **NOTE: The two BMW screws hold the fender on the bike. Be sure to secure the rear fender to the rack in some manner (e.g., with a bungee or a strap) before removing the passenger grab handle from the BMW rack. Page 2

3 Engage the hook bracket into the slots at the front edge of the BMW rack, shown below. Attached the T bracket to the bike, by passing the two retained BMW screws through the flat plate and through the shoulder bushings. See photo below. Page 3

4 Step 3. Install the Micatech Pack Rack to the Mount Kit in the Front Position Mount the Micatech Pack Rack to the T bracket by inserting the nine (9) M6 x 18 flat head screws into the threaded inserts. Page 4

5 Pack Rack Mounted in the Rear Position Rear Position Mount Kit and Hardware: 1 T bracket 2 M6 BMW bolts (provided with customer s BMW rack/passenger grabrail) 2 Shoulder bushings 1 Plate, 5 x 3/8 inches 2 M6 nylok nuts 2 M6 x 30 socket head cap screws 2 7MM bushings 2 Rubber washers Pack Rack and Hardware: 1 Micatech medium or large Pack Rack 9 M6 x 18 flat head socket cap screws See hardware assembly below: Page 5

6 Step 1. Install the Pack Rack Hardware To mount the Pack Rack in the rear position, remove the passenger grab handle from the BMW rack and retain the two BMW provided screws. NOTE: The two BMW screws hold the fender on the bike. Be sure to secure the rear fender to the rack in some manner (e.g., with a bungee or a strap) before removing the passenger grab handle from the BMW rack. Locate the two shoulder bushings in the area where the passenger grab rail was removed. Secure the front of the T bracket to the bike, passing the BMW provided screws through the shoulder bushings. See photo below. Next, place the rubber washer against the BMW rack with 7MM spacer on top, plate in the underside of the rack. Secure the T bar to the rack with M6 x 30 screws on both sides, using flat washers and nylok nuts underneath the plate. See photo next page. Page 6

7 Step 3. Install the Micatech Pack Rack to the Mount Kit in the Rear Position Mount the Micatech Pack Rack to the T bracket by inserting the nine (9) M6 x 18 flat head socket cap screws into the threaded inserts, as shown below. Page 7
