1 SECTION PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS A. PART A and DIVISION 1 of PART B are hereby made a part of this SECTION. B. Examine all conditions as they exist at the project prior to submitting a bid for the work of this SECTION SCOPE OF WORK A. Furnish the following items for installation under the designated SECTIONS: 1. Flush pre-finished wood solid core doors: SECTION FINISH CARPENTRY. 2. Glazing beads, loosely attached to doors for removal and permanent installation: SECTION GLASS AND GLAZING. 3. Metal louvers and mounting moldings for installation in wood doors: SECTION FINISH CARPENTRY RELATED WORK SPECIFIED ELSEWHERE A. The following related work is to be performed under the designated SECTIONS: 1.04 SUBMITTALS 1. Furnishing of finish hardware: SECTION FINISH HARDWARE. 2. Pressed steel frames for doors: SECTION HOLLOW METALWORK. 3. Air movement requirements for undercuts and door louvers: SECTION HVAC. A. Submit complete shop drawings in accordance with SECTION SUBMITTALS. B. Include a complete new wood door schedule and a certified statement from the manufacturer that the doors proposed to be furnished meet or exceed the requirements specified hereunder, together with a sample copy of the manufacturer's warranty which is specified herein

2 C. Submit the following samples in accordance with the requirements of SECTION SUBMITTALS. 1. Corner section of each typical door, showing construction, methods of joinery and type of veneer. 2. Mounted pre-finished veneer samples, three each type, 8 x 11 inch in size PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Each door shall be carefully packed with non-staining moisture-proof covering and spacers, prior to shipping, in a manner which will protect the doors against damage in transit. B. The manufacturer shall convey to the General Contractor special on-site care and handling requirements GUARANTEE A. The manufacturer shall submit directly to the General Contractor for transmittal to the Architect, two (2) copies of the manufacturer's full warranty covering all doors. Said warranty shall be signed by the manufacturer and shall be submitted at the same time doors are shipped. Warranty shall be as follows: 1. Flush doors for lifetime of installation, including rehanging and refinishing REFERENCE STANDARDS A. ASTM E152 - Methods of fire tests of door assemblies. B. AWI - Quality standards of the Architectural Woodwork Institute (Premium Grade). C. NFPA 80 - Fire doors and windows. D. NFPA Standard method of fire tests for the door assemblies. E. UL 10B - Fire tests of door assemblies

3 PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 WOOD FLUSH DOORS A. Manufacture - To establish a standard of quality, design and function, specifications are based on wood flush doors manufactured by Marshfield Door Systems, Inc., Marshfield, WI; Eggers Industries, Neenah, WI; and Algoma Hardwoods, Algoma, WI. Doors by other manufacturers will be considered as an equal by the Architect upon receipt of adequate supporting data and samples. B. General - Refer to the drawings for sizes of doors and for glazing cut-outs and louvers therein. C. Veneers - Doors shall be AWI premium grade, Type I, plain sliced select white maple. Vertical exposed edge of stiles shall be of same species as door facing. D. Finish -Factory finished doors shall be in accordance with AWI Division S-4-Finish System Standards. Factory finish shall be ultraviolet (UV) cured polyurethane to comply with EPA Title 5 guidelines for Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions limitations. Finish shall meet or exceed performance standards or TR-6 catalyzed polyurethane. Doors shall be furnished with a clear finish. E. Lumber Core Doors (Unrated and 20 Minute Labels) - Institutional solid lumber core doors consisting of the following: 1. Core Structural composite lumber material equal to Timberstand LSL as manufactured by Trus Joist MacMillan. 2. Stiles (5/8 inch min.) and top and bottom rails (1 1/8 inch, min.) glued to core. 3. Cross Banding - 1/16 inch minimum low density hardwood. 4. Veneers and cross banding bonded to core with Type I waterproof glue in a hot press, following sanding of core unit. 5. Factory machine doors for finish hardware in accordance with hardware templates and dimensions provided under SECTION Do not factory machine for surface hardware. Factory prefit doors to frame openings of hollow metal frames furnished under SECTION HOLLOW METALWORK. 6. Staved core doors so noted on the door schedule shall carry 20 minute UL Labels. 7. Security rating - Class 40, tested in accordance with ASTM F

4 E. Mineral Core Doors (45, 60 and 90 minute labels) - Institutional, rated mineral core doors shall be fabricated in accordance with the manufacturer's UL requirements, including the following: 2.02 GLAZED OPENINGS 1. Stiles shall have a minimum screw withdrawal performance of 740 lbs. 2. Mineral core doors shall have inner blocking as required to attach surface applied hardware with screws. Through bolts are not acceptable. 3. Cross Banding - 1/16 inch minimum hardwood. 4. Veneers and cross banding to core with Type I waterproof glue, following sanding of core unit. 5. Factory machine doors for finish hardware in accordance with hardware templates and dimensions provided under SECTION Do not factory machine for surface hardware. Factory prefit doors to frame openings of the hollow metal frames furnished under SECTION HOLLOW METALWORK. 6. Doors shall carry 45 and 90 minute UL labels as noted under door schedule. 7. Security rating - Class 30, tested in accordance with ASTM F-476. A. For all rated and non-rated doors Flush wood or veneered beads similar to Marshfield Door Systems W-6 profile, specie to match face veneer. Secure glazing beads to one side of the door at the factor for field glazing. Field applied glazing beads shall be factory pre-cut and secured inside light cutout of each door DOOR LOUVERS FOR WOOD DOORS A. Louvers shall be stationary inverted "V" blade, formed from 20 gauge cold rolled steel, with approximately 55% free area. Include formed metal "Z" moldings both sides. Screws for attachment shall be tamper proof. Louvers shall be factory primed for field painting under SECTION B. Sizes of door louvers shall be coordinated by the door manufacturer based upon the air movement requirements shown on the HVAC drawings
