1 A Super Clear Film for a No-Label Look For this project, Ti collaborated with the printing house Stephanos Karydakis that printed the transparent label for a yogurt container of 1 litre and Kotronis Plastic that injected the container. The label showing the Aegean Sea has a super clear window: this is the special combination of a transparent container and a super clear label that can add value to all the applications where the product quality is shown. Rotary, flat-bad and high die-cutting technology Film: LIC Thickness: 55 µm Look: Transparent LIC is a transparent super clear film used where a real non label look is requested. LIC has got excellent optical properties and is characterised by a glossy finish after the injection moulding process. This film is suitable for medium-large, as well as small containers. 2 Low Distortion after injection molding Conventional offset printing Rotary, flat-bed and high die-cutting technology Film: LID Thickness: 55 µm Look: Transparent LID is the newly developed Ti s IML solution to avoid distortion of lids after injection molding process. LID features lower haze than commonly used cast PP films, allowing down-gauging and offering good machinability on printing press. The ice-cream container lids have been injected by the Italian company Piber Group, which has also printed LID film using sheet-fed offset with conventional oxidative inks. Piber Group produces innovative food packaging solutions like cups, tubs, glasses, cutleries, trays and lids for ice cream, frozen foods, desserts, cheese, as well as thermosealing machines for foodstuff. 3 Post molding high gloss effect Film: LIW Thickness: 50 µm Solid white Look: LIW is a solid white film for injection molding characterized by a high gloss finish after injection molding. Ti carried out this project in collaboration with Viappiani Printing that produced the labels. Viappiani Printing is based in Milan, Italy, and is member of the CTI Group. It is specialized since more than 35 years in the production of in mould labels... Printed with conventional drying food-grade inks. 4 IN MOULD LABELS Ultra High Yield for In Mould Labels Film: LIU Thickness: 60 µm Look: White voided LIU is a new white voided film, with ultra high yield, suitable for IML decoration of smaller size containers. It delivers a high orange peel finish after the injection moulding. The printing was executed by Grafiche Seven, an Italian converter based in Verona, specialized in the production of different types of labels: wet glue, self adhesive, shrink sleeve, wrap around and in mould labels. Grafiche Seven used their know how to enhance the graphics of the label using reel fed offset and flexo technology, with 4 colors + varnish. The film good machinability and flatness ensure print register stability during the print run. Along with excellent ink adhesion and reduced ink drying time, LIU improves the converting performance. 5 High orange peel finish for small size containers Film: LIX Thickness: 60 µm Look: Orange peel LIX is a white voided film with ultra-high yield suitable for IML decoration of small size containers ( 500 gms). It delivers a high orange peel finish after the injection moulding and it is available in 50, 60, 70 µm. This joint development project involved Taghleef Industries for the supply of LIM, the Belgian company Verstraete In Mould Labels and the UK moulder RPC Oakham. The 500 gms margarine tub was printed using 4 colours with conventional offset printing technology by Verstraete In Mould Labels, who has over 25 years of experience in printing labels for injection molding, blow molding and thermoforming. They were molded by RPC Oakham that is specialized in developing and manufacturing innovative plastic packaging solutions. 6 A versatile film with a satin post moulding finish Film: LIM Thickness: 60 µm Look: White voided LIM is a white cavitated film for IML decoration of small and medium size containers when a satin post moulding finish is requested. LIM is the versatile choice to cover a broad range of container shapes. This joint development project involved Taghleef Industries for the supply of LIM, the Belgian company Verstraete In Mould Labels and the UK molder RPC Oakham. 7 Smooth finish for thin wall containers Film: LIH Thickness: 50 µm Look: White voided LIH is a white voided film used to deliver a smooth post-molding finish on the end product. Its typical thickness is 70 µm, which is suitable for the decoration of medium to large size containers. However, LIH is also available in 50 µm to be used on small size and thin wall containers. When used on lids, LIH 50 µm effectively reduces the typical distortion caused by a solid film on the same application. The half-litre olive container and its lid have been decorated by the Greek printing house Stephanos Karydakis and molded by the Greek moulder Kotronis Plastics. The final result is a combination of light weight and smooth finish in one label only which is the perfect solution for small and medium size containers. Titanium LTZ promotes high value and elegance feel thanks to its metallic shine-on effect that increases the product s shelf presence. The production of the containers was made in collaboration with two Greek partners: the printing house Stephanos Karydakis that developed its printing expertise in labels during the last 50 years, and the molder Kotronis Plastics that is dedicated to the production of plastic containers and lids suitable for food packaging. Stephanos Karydakis printed the metallic wrap around labels using conventional offset printing technology, and Kotronis Plastics injected them on 250 ml containers. 9 IN MOULD LABELS Sustainable Packaging Solutions Film: NTSS Thickness: 40 µm Look: Transparent The film used for the in-mould label is NATIVIA NTSS 40 µm, a highly transparent and glossy film which offers a biobased and compostable (according to EU standard EN 13432) solution for injected containers. The packaging market is more and more interested in finding environmentally sustainable solutions to respond to consumers concerns with the depletion of fossil resources and climate change. This joint development project involved Taghleef Industries for the supply of the IML film, Grafiche Seven S.p.A. for the printing of the labels and Elledi Plast S.r.l. for the injection moulding of a PLA (polylactic acid) based container for cream cheese. Grafiche Seven used their know how to print the label using reel fed offset and flexo technology, whith 6 colors + varnish. Superior stiffness and film flatness ensure print register stability during the printing run, while film surface properties lead to suitable ink adhesion for IML application. Optimal stiffness is also crucial for efficient die cutting. PLA based resin Ingeo 3251D has been used for the injection moulding of the containers.
