2 簡介 超越天空 專題展覽由波音贊助, 展示在航空航天發展歷程上前所未見的互動體驗, 介紹人類首次動力飛行, 以至在地球上和太空中的最新創科成果 展覽採用了模擬飛行器 互動體驗劇場 觸控桌面顯示器和擴增實境等新科技, 展示飛行背後的技術和科學概念, 引發大家透過科學 工程和科技去盡情感受 探索和創造, 為你帶來飛得更快 更高和更遠的難得體驗! 觀眾會首先進入一個互動體驗劇場, 體驗飛行的極限 接着便可暢遊五個主要展區, 操作十多件有關飛行的展品 你可以乘搭虛擬太空電梯前往太空邊緣, 參加虛擬高速飛行競賽, 親自設計超音速噴射戰鬥機, 並進行測試 另外, 你亦可透過動作傳感圖像擷取技術, 在探索飛行動作的同時, 盡情體驗鳥兒群飛的感覺 康樂及文化事務署主辦 香港科學館和波音聯合籌劃 展覽由 Evergreen Exhibitions 和波音製作 聯繫課程 小學常識科 : 日常生活中的科學與科技 中一至中三科學科 : 太空之旅 中四至中六物理科選修部份 : 天文學和航天科學 1

8 Introduction The Above and Beyond special exhibition is sponsored by Boeing. It offers an unprecedented interactive demonstration of advances in aviation and aerospace, from the first powered flights to the newest innovations on Earth and in space. The exhibition makes use of flight simulation, immersive theatre, touch-table displays and augmented reality to exhibit technology and scientific concepts behind flight. It inspires your curiosity to enjoy, explore and create through science, engineering, and technology. It takes you faster, higher and further for a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Visitors will enter an immersive wraparound theatre and be challenged by the limits of flight. After that you will venture into five main zones comprising dozens of interactive exhibits. You can ride to the edge of space in a simulated space elevator or test your own supersonic fighter-jet design in a virtual high-speed flying competition. A flying experience with motion-sensing image capture also helps you sense what it is like to fly like a bird in a flock, while exploring the forces of flight. 11 Exhibit Highlights Before entering the five main zones of the exhibition, you can retrace those innovators and innovations that have transformed the world through flight. You could also challenge yourself by experiencing the limits of flight. The five main zones of the exhibition comprise interactive exhibits that let you experience the challenges of flight and learn about its science and technology through five different aspects: Up, Higher, Farther, Smarter and Faster. You can explore how people seek to defy gravity to pursue their dreams of getting off the ground, and try to fly faster, higher and farther. You can also discover the myriad of ways in which future flights can be improved by innovative intelligent technologies. Digital Timeline Retrace the innovators and innovations that have transformed the world through flight at the multilayer digital touchscreen. Take Flight Examine aircraft 3-D models that demonstrate innovations in flight and the science behind them. Shock Waves Perform a simulated wind tunnel test to gauge the effects of aerodynamics on flight body. 10

12 International Space Elevator Take the space elevator up to the Earth s orbit to admire the breathtaking natural phenomena and learn about different aircraft and spacecraft. Marathon to Mars Experience firsthand the challenges to your body and psychological state during an ultra-long-haul flight to Mars. Roboflyers Design your own flying robot to complete a challenging mission. Dreams Aloft Watch a video interview of young aerospace employees who tell their inspirations, intriguing projects and dreams for the next century of flight. 11

13 Pre-visit Preparation 1. Equip students with basic information and scientific concepts in aerospace science prior to their visits. 2. Encourage students to research for information about the history of aerospace development and discuss the significant pioneers and milestones. 3. Share news about recent developments of aerospace with students. Post-visit Extension Activities 1. Guide students to share what they have learnt from the exhibition, and discuss with them the future challenges and difficulties this industry is facing. Let students present their ideas on how science and technology can help solve the problems they could think of. 2. Discuss and let students observe the daily applications of biomimicry in different fields and present their findings. 3. Visit the Semper Paratus the Government Flying Service exhibition on the G/F Exhibition Hall, Hong Kong Science Museum to consolidate and expand students knowledge.
