2 A Record-Breaking Year in Generosity The Country School opened its doors for the school with an ambitious goal for its 60 th anniversary the first major transformation to campus since the construction of Blatchford Learning Center in Shaping the Future The Campaign for the 60 th Anniversary has raised more than $1.4 million in capital funds in 15 months, allowing the school to move forward with segments of the Campus Master Plan, which was developed by trustees, parents, and teachers in The much-anticipated construction generated two new sod-covered soccer fields, a baseball/softball diamond, four state-of-the-art tennis courts, a full-size basketball court, Class of 2016 patio and pergola, renovated playground, Gaga pit, and repositioned ropes course. An aerial view of the yards and yards of sod installation was captured on video by Madison resident and teacher David Buller and edited by alumnus Christopher Arrandale 14. Click here to see the final stages of this historical campus transformation. A dedication of the fields in June welcomed more than 100 Country School students, parents, teachers, alumni, trustees, Town of Madison officials, neighbors, and friends on campus for ribbon-cutting ceremonies of the new athletic complex. Head of School John Fixx announced the Daitch and Salgar Athletic Fields, the Rothberg Tennis Center, the Coletti, Cozean, Howey, and Rooney tennis courts, and the Redding Basketball Court. In addition to the remarkable athletic complex on the south end of campus, continued support of the three-year Capital Campaign has allowed construction to move forward to deliver an appealing village atmosphere on campus by repositioning traffic and parking to the outskirts of campus and creating an elliptical academic green at the center of campus. Additional fundraising support in the upcoming year will allow further build-outs and permanent asphalt to complete the new parking lots and driveway phase of the construction. Thank you to everyone who supported the 60 th anniversary campus transformation project and other important initiatives this year, allowing us to break all giving records at The Country School. Your generosity helps propel our school forward as we offer future generations of students an education that lasts a lifetime. Here's to the next 60 years! 1

Shaping the Future: The Campaign for the 60th Anniversary In celebration of our school's 60th Anniversary, The Country School campus is undergoing a dramatic transformation, developed by Centerbrook Architects, that promises to shape the experiences of students, teachers, and families for generations to come. After 10 months of construction, Phase 1 concluded this spring, with the expansion of our athletic fields and recreational facilities. Thanks to the remarkable generosity of a broad array of donors, we were able to: Install two new side-by-side, state-of-the-art athletic fields and a baseball/softball diamond Construct the Rothberg Tennis Center, a four-court tennis facility, where, in partnership with Madison Racquet & Swim Club, we are already holding USTA events and offering our own programming 9

11 Create a new playground near the recreational complex, featuring a full-sized, outdoor basketball court, gaga pit, swing set, and more Create a new state-of-the-art ropes course Install the Class of 2016 outdoor patio and a gazebo overlooking the athletic complex Upgrade landscaping across campus This summer, we embarked on Phase 2, a plan which will rework the campus infrastructure, moving vehicles and parking to the outskirts of campus and converting the center of campus to a pedestrian "village for learning." The small-scale village atmosphere of the redesigned campus will set The Country School campus apart from its peer schools, creating a gracious and inviting atmosphere capable of serving and inspiring students and visitors alike. We are most grateful to our donors, who collectively contributed nearly $1.4 million dollars thus far to make these campus transformations a reality. 14 8 Out of Every 10 Current Families Contributed to Annual Giving: Once Again Exceeding National Benchmarks Founders Promise Fund for Scholarship and the David and Marcia MacLane Endowment for Scholarship The Founders Promise Fund (FPF) for Scholarship is an investment in a child s future, awarding need-based scholarships to a wide range of students. Established in 2006 by Allee and Jeff 61 Burt P 00, 03 and their family to honor The Country School s founders and their desire to help all children reach their full potential, the FPF for Scholarship has helped 173 unique students in the past decade, awarding more than $4.6 million dollars during this time. During The Country School s 55th Anniversary, an endowment for the FPF was created and later in 2012, Duncan 64 and his wife JoAnn MacLane established The David and Marcia MacLane Endowment in honor of Duncan s parents, which creates opportunities for students whose educational options were previously limited, thus benefiting both the scholarship recipients and the school community as a whole. The MacLane Endowment is a perpetual scholarship fund, tied to the permanent Founders Promise Endowment Fund. Annual distribution provides financial assistance to deserving students who show great promise, both inside and outside the classroom. 13

15 Money raised from the FPF for Scholarship as well as income generated from the endowments provided assistance to 25% of our students in , including four MacLane Scholar recipients. This generous assistance would not be possible without the support of our FPF, FPF Endowment, and MacLane Endowment donors. Thank you for giving these students the opportunity to receive an education that lasts a lifetime. Bank of America Matching Gift Allee and S. Jeffrey Burt '61 P '00, '03 Terry R. 16 2016 Golf and Tennis Classic To help support the growing need to provide scholarship funds to our students requiring financial assistance, we introduced the Golf Classic in 2012, with all proceeds going to the FPF for Scholarship. Last year, we added a tennis component to the day, and this year we were honored to hold the tennis matches at our own Rothberg Tennis Center. We welcomed more than 50 players and guests on June 20 to kick off a wonderful day of golf at Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club, tennis, and fellowship all to benefit the FPF for Scholarship. We are grateful to all who joined us that day, supported sponsorships, and contributed to this worthy event. Individuals and businesses that donated to our auction are listed in the Gifts in Kind section of this report. All Waste, Inc.
