5 The Rotary Club motto is Service Above Self. Susan Bevan and Anthony Daddino both exemplify this philosophy as depicted in their long list of volunteer efforts nationally and locally. With a law degree from DePaul University, Susan has had an active professional career in administration. She currently serves on advisory boards for The Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich, the YWCA of Greenwich, The Historical Society, Center for Integrative Medicine, and the Greenwich Council of Boy Scouts. She has had involvement in many not-for-profit organizations over the years including The Junior League of Greenwich, The Breast Cancer Alliance as Chair for the annual benefit, Trustee at the Bruce Museum, Director for The Freedom s Foundation at Valley Forge, and founding member of The Children s Collective. She has been committed to Greenwich Country Day School, St. Barnabus Episcopal Church and Blair Academy. Having a reputation as a successful fundraiser Susan has helped the funding efforts of Greenwich Hospital, Stamford Center for the Arts, Planned Parenthood of Connecticut, Fairfield County Community Foundation and the Greenwich Daffodil Society. Anthony graduated from St. John s University with degrees in Accounting and Economics. He also is a C.P.A. Anthony is a Trustee of St. Luke s Community Services, and has served on several boards and has chaired and or served on the finance committee for St. Luke s Lifeworks, Greenwich Adult Day Care, St. Barnabus Episcopal Church, Blair Academy, and The Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich. He is currently President of the Field Point Park Association. The blessings bestowed on Susan and Anthony include three children ages 20, 18, and 15. 3

9 From the toppling of the Twin Towers to the tumbling of the Berlin Wall Through the darkness of a world at war to the light of victory Rotary has endured. Economic depressions, social turmoil, and political unrest have only made Rotary stronger in its convictions and more dedicated to achieving its ideals of international understanding and peace. The world s premier service organization has stood the test of time and at 104 today stands ready to face the opportunities and challenges of its second century. It was December 1920, when a small group of Greenwich business and professional men, feeling that it was time to have a men s luncheon club where views on business and community affairs could be discussed, decided that the Rotary concept of service above self met their ideals. Rotary continues to be a vital part of the Greenwich community. Over the years, the club has become more inclusive as have its charitable efforts locally, nationally and internationally. 7
