1 Fall 2017 From the Village President Greetings, Hard to believe the summer months are behind us and fall is fast approaching. I would like to thank everyone that took the time to make their properties look nice this summer. Any resident that does any upgrades to their home, PLEASE stop at Village Office for a building permit. Thank you to all businesses in the Village for your continuing support to the community. School is back in session; PLEASE watch out for children crossing the streets. The Village budget is in good shape thus far. REMINDER: All Village residents are welcome to attend a Village Board meeting and voice your concerns/questions. Village Board meetings are the 1 st Tuesday of each month. Thank you Plainfield Lions Club for donating playground equipment to the Mill Street Park. Stop by and check it out. Has anyone noticed the repaint sign in Veteran s Memorial Park? Thanks to Tri-County horticulture class for landscaping, Village Maintenance crew for clearing brush out, Yadira Ramirez (Tri-County art student) for repainting the sign and Waushara Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6007 for funding the project. 2 The Plainfield Library for the next six weeks is encouraging young people to expand their minds and reasoning skills through hands on STEM Projects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The Stem projects will be every Friday from 3 to 4 pm, beginning September 15th to October 20th. This is for school aged kids, but younger ones may attend with an adult to help them. The projects include Strawbees, Ozobots, Paper Engineering and Squishy Circuits. This is a new adventure for us and was made possible through a grant from the Waushara County Prevention Council. Please, stop by and see how talented our young people are in our community, we will have each week s project on display! Our 2017 Summer Program was a success! We had (27) Preschool to 2nd grade doing the Reading Challenge, (11) 3rd and 4th graders and (11) Teens 5th grade and up. Congratulations to all the kids for doing a great job reading. A big Thank You to the Plainfield Business Association, North Central Irrigation and Fox Oil Company for sponsoring our Summer Program entertainers this year!
