2 Introduction A new vision. Nano-Tex s new brand has been developed to strongly represent our company and instantly convey the benefits of our technology in the marketplace. This document will explain the proper usage of all of the elements of the brand system in order to provide guidance for how they can be used most effectively. With the help of this guideline, we can all contribute to the success of our brand.

STRATEGY: Strategic Summary 4 The brand strategy identifies a basic consumer truth that provides the foundation for developing a visual communications program. Understanding this strategy is critical to understanding who we are and what we stand for. Freedom COMPANY POSITIONING Human BRAND POSITIONING Seamless Transition Visionary Perfect fit Greater adaptability Diversitility (diversity + versatility) Being more efficient Achieving harmony Gliding through life Engaging the flow of life Seamless transition is the synthesis of what we learned from consumers. It makes nanotechnology relevant by making evident how NANO-TEX Fabrics make people s lives easier: allowing movement from situation to situation with ease, comfort, speed, and convenience; creating frictionless living.
IDENTITY: Identity Introduction 5 The NANO-TEX identity is the key element of our new brand, and serves as its sole representative in many applications. It dynamically expresses the benefits of NANO-TEX products in daily life while still projecting the breakthrough nature of the technology behind them. The symbol central to the wordmark is a set of closed and open green circles, speaking to the exciting breakthrough possibilities of nanotechnology as a targeted solution to a variety of everyday problems, both now and in the future. In contrast, the gray letterforms of the logotype reinforce the credibility of the company. These guidelines introduce all NANO-TEX identity versions, referred to as its signatures. All artwork has been specially created for both print and onscreen use. Always use NANO-TEX signatures in accordance with these guidelines. NANO-TEX Green NANO-TEX Gray Logotype Symbol Signature
IDENTITY: Corporate and Product Signatures 6 The NANO-TEX identity exists in two forms in order to best represent the brand in both corporate and product environments. The corporate signature should be used in applications that pertain to the company as a whole, such as the Web site and corporate overview brochure; while the product signature should be used in product specific applications, such as hangtags. Both horizontal and vertical configurations of the product signature are available to best accommodate space constraints in varying applications. Please use the configuration that allows for the maximum impact of the identity. CORPORATE SIGNATURE VERTICAL PRODUCT SIGNATURE (PREFERRED) HORIZONTAL PRODUCT SIGNATURE Use for all general corporate communications. Use for all communications specific to NANO-TEX products.
IDENTITY: Tagline 7 The NANO-TEX tagline, Fabric to the Next, expresses the superior benefits of our technology and creates momentum for the brand by positioning our offerings as breakthrough. The tagline should be used differently depending on use of the corporate or product signatures. For use with the corporate signature, use the provided lockup. For use with either the vertical or the horizontal product signature, you may determine the best relationship between the identity and tagline for the particular constraints of your application, as long as the two appear on the same page. The cap height of the F in the tagline should never exceed the cap height of the N in the product signature. Please note that the size of the tagline symbol should be adjusted to exactly match the size of the product signature symbol. CORPORATE SIGNATURE WITH TAGLINE PRODUCT SIGNATURE WITH TAGLINE PLACEMENT EXAMPLES Examples of tagline usage in sell sheet and performance hangtag applications. The minimum horizontal distance between the product signature and tagline should be equal to or greater than the width of the tagline. PRODUCT SIGNATURE WITH TAGLINE SIZING Use the provided lockup for the tagline with the corporate signature. The example above illustrates the correct size relationship between the NANO-TEX product signature and tagline. Never allow the cap height of the F in the tagline to exceed the cap height of the N in the product signature. Always adjust the size of the tagline symbol to exactly match the size of the product signature symbol. Maintain the upper left corner of the T in the symbol as a fixed starting point for scaling.
IDENTITY: Character Templates 8 Use the templates provided when locking up the NANO-TEX vertical or horizontal product signature with characteristic names. Never lock up more than three characteristic names with the product signature. It is important to adhere to both the clear space and minimum size guidelines when creating characteristic lock ups (see pages 9 and 10). POSITIVE VERTICAL PRODUCT SIGNATURE CHARACTER TEMPLATE REVERSE VERTICAL PRODUCT SIGNATURE CHARACTER TEMPLATE Fabric CHARACTERISTIC 1 CHARACTERISTIC 2 CHARACTERISTIC 3 Fabric CHARACTERISTIC 1 CHARACTERISTIC 2 CHARACTERISTIC 3 POSITIVE HORIZONTAL PRODUCT SIGNATURE CHARACTER TEMPLATE REVERSE HORIZONTAL PRODUCT SIGNATURE CHARACTER TEMPLATE Fabric Fabric CHARACTERISTIC 1 CHARACTERISTIC 2 CHARACTERISTIC 3 CHARACTERISTIC 1 CHARACTERISTIC 2 CHARACTERISTIC 3
IDENTITY: Clear Space 9 Clear space is the area surrounding the identity that must be kept free of text and graphic elements in order to provide proper staging. For both corporate and product signatures, clear space is equal to the cap height of the N in NANO-TEX on the left, right, and bottom; and equal to.75 the cap height of the N in NANO-TEX on the top. For the tagline, clear space is equal to the cap height of the F in Fabric on all sides. CORPORATE SIGNATURE VERTICAL PRODUCT SIGNATURE (PREFERRED) TAGLINE x equals the cap height of the F in Fabric. CORPORATE SIGNATURE WITH TAGLINE HORIZONTAL PRODUCT SIGNATURE x equals the cap height of the N in NANO-TEX. x equals the cap height of the N in NANO-TEX.
IDENTITY: Minimum Size 10 Minimum size is the smallest the identity can appear without jeopardizing legibility. For print applications, the minimum size for corporate and product signatures is.75" in width (based on the width of NANO-TEX in all signatures); and the minimum size for the tagline is.6" in width. For onscreen applications, the minimum size for corporate and product signatures is 90 pixels in width (based on the width of NANO-TEX in all signatures); and the minimum size for the tagline is 75 pixels in width. CORPORATE SIGNATURE VERTICAL PRODUCT SIGNATURE (PREFERRED) TAGLINE.75" (print) 90 px (onscreen).75" (print) 90 px (onscreen).6" (print) 75 px (onscreen) CORPORATE SIGNATURE WITH TAGLINE HORIZONTAL PRODUCT SIGNATURE.75" (print) 90 px (onscreen).75" (print) 90 px (onscreen)
IDENTITY: Grayscale 11 Grayscale versions of the NANO-TEX identity and tagline have been created for use when color is limited to black, such as in newsprint. CORPORATE SIGNATURE PRODUCT SIGNATURE 55% Black 55% Black 100% Black 55% Black 100% Black TAGLINE 100% Black
IDENTITY: Reverse 12 Reverse color and grayscale versions of the NANO-TEX identity and tagline have been created for use in applications that require a dark background. The preferred background color is NANO-TEX Gray. Never use the NANO-TEX reverse color identity directly against a NANO-TEX Green background (see page 15). CORPORATE SIGNATURE PRODUCT SIGNATURE TAGLINE Reverse Color Corporate Signature Reverse Color Product Signature Reverse Tagline Reverse Grayscale Corporate Signature Reverse Grayscale Product Signature Reverse Tagline
IDENTITY: One Color 13 One color versions of the NANO-TEX identity and tagline have been created for use in one color applications. All versions are available in NANO-TEX Green, NANO-TEX Gray, black, and reverse. CORPORATE SIGNATURE PRODUCT SIGNATURE TAGLINE NANO-TEX Green One Color Corporate Signature NANO-TEX Green One Color Product Signature NANO-TEX Green One Color Tagline NANO-TEX Gray One Color Corporate Signature NANO-TEX Gray One Color Product Signature NANO-TEX Gray One Color Tagline Black One Color Corporate Signature Black One Color Product Signature Black One Color Tagline Reverse One Color Corporate Signature Reverse One Color Product Signature Reverse One Color Tagline
IDENTITY: Backgrounds 14 Backgrounds for the NANO-TEX identity should appear clean and uncluttered. When considering background color, always confirm that the NANO-TEX identity has sufficient contrast and its elements read clearly. It is preferred that positive signatures appear against a white background, and reverse signatures appear against a NANO-TEX Gray background. It is also allowable for positive signatures to appear against a light color or gray background up to approximately 20% black in value, and reverse signatures to appear against a dark color or gray background above approximately 60% in value. POSITIVE SIGNATURES Preferred white background Light color background (up to 15% black in value) REVERSE SIGNATURES Preferred NANO-TEX Gray background Dark color background (above 60% black in value)
IDENTITY: Incorrect Usage 15 Using the NANO-TEX identity consistently and accurately is essential in maintaining its integrity and building brand awareness. These examples illustrate uses that should be avoided. EXAMPLES OF INCORRECT USAGE DO NOT alter identity artwork or scale disproportionately. DO NOT change identity colors. DO NOT create new lockups of the product signature. DO NOT place the identity on a background with insufficient contrast, or one with cluttered elements. DO NOT reverse the identity out of NANO-TEX Green. DO NOT allow the cap height of the F in Fabric in the tagline to exceed the cap height of the N in NANO-TEX in the product signature.
IDENTITY: Text Reference 16 Just as it is essential to use the NANO-TEX identity consistently and accurately, it is also essential to consistently apply the following rules around referring to Nano-Tex in text. To refer to the Nano-Tex company, the correct format is Nano-Tex, and always include a hyphen between Nano and Tex. To generally refer to NANO-TEX products, the word Fabric should be used directly after NANO-TEX and given an initial cap, as in NANO-TEX Fabric. To refer specifically to a single product, the correct format is NANO-TEX, with a descriptor of the specific product directly following. The symbol is only necessary for the first reference to Nano-Tex and/or its products in the title and text on each page of a communication piece. CORRECT NANO-TEX COMPANY REFERENCE CORRECT SPECIFIC NANO-TEX PRODUCT REFERENCE Nano-Tex innovations help satisfy the evolving needs of today s customer. And as the market continues to evolve, Nano-Tex will make sure your company s ready for whatever s next. CORRECT GENERAL NANO-TEX PRODUCT REFERENCE With NANO-TEX Fabric, it can be 100 degrees outside and you still won t get hot under the collar. Experience the breakthrough and be ready for whatever s next. Version 1 Version 2 With NANO-TEX Resists Spills fabric, you re looking good and feeling good. Complications roll away like water off a duck s back. The waiter just spilled an iced latte in your lap, but you don t mind. You re wearing pants made with NANO-TEX spill-resistant fabric, so the coffee just beads up and rolls right off. Note that the specific product descriptor can be either the name of the product verbatim or a description of its benefit.
ELEMENTS: Typography 17 The typography palette for Nano-Tex expresses both the dynamic innovation and human focus of our company. The typefaces are Trade Gothic and New Century Schoolbook. These typefaces should be used for all communication. The Trade Gothic family should be the most common, with Trade Gothic Bold No. 2 used for headlines and Trade Gothic Roman used for body copy. New Century Schoolbook is also available for body copy, particularly narratives and callouts. The preferred equivalent of Trade Gothic in Microsoft programs is Arial. The preferred equivalent of New Century Schoolbook in Microsoft programs is Times Roman. The fonts shown below can be purchased online at TRADE GOTHIC Trade Gothic Bold No. 2 ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz ?, (). Trade Gothic Roman ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz ?, (). NEW CENTURY SCHOOLBOOK New Century Schoolbook ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz ?, (). The tone of New Century Schoolbook is human, friendly, and open. The tone of Trade Gothic is dynamic, scientific, and bold.
ELEMENTS: Colors 18 Color is an important part of the NANO-TEX visual communications system, adding interest to our communications and identifying our products. Our palette is bright and uplifting, expressing the energy and excitement of our technology. Listed below are the correct formulations for reproducing our colors correctly. 19 ELEMENTS: Preferred Product Icons 19 NANO-TEX BRAND GUIDELINES A series of icons have been developed to represent each NANO-TEX product. Each icon serves as a simple visual representation of each fabric technology. The preferred set of product icons integrates the product name within the artwork and can be used alone. Alternate versions of the icons have been created to meet specific needs of varying applications. Please refer to the examples in this and the next page to determine the best product icon version to use in your application. These guidelines introduce all product icon versions. All artwork has been specially created for both print and onscreen use. Always use NANO-TEX product icons in accordance with these guidelines. Please note that the RESISTS SPILLS icon has an additional version for performance fabrics in which the messaging becomes REPELS WATER. PREFERRED PRODUCT ICONS RESISTS SPILLS REPELS WATER COTTON TOUCH COOLEST COMFORT RESISTS ODORS REPELS & RELEASES STAINS RESISTS SPILLS becomes REPELS WATER for performance fabrics. ISOLATED ICON VERSION The ONLY usage of the isolated icon version (icon shape alone with no circular containing shape) is within the photography compositions for each product. See page 22 for additional information regarding photography compositions. EXAMPLE: Photography composition SINGLE CIRCLE VERSION RESISTS SPILLS Look for other NANO-TEX Fabrics: Fabric to the Next In applications where a visual list of products is needed and there is limited vertical space, it is permissible to use only the bottom circle containing the product icon shape, locking up the product name as necessary to best fit the constraints of the application. Never use the single circle icon version without the product name. EXAMPLES: Casual and performance hangtag back panels. Note that in performance tags, RESISTS SPILLS becomes REPELS WATER.
ELEMENTS: Alternate Product Icons (continued) 21 Refer to the examples below for usage of alternate product icon versions. ACCENT GRAPHIC VERSION In applications that support specific products in depth, such as the sell sheets, it is permissible to remove the product name from the upper circle of the product icon and use it as a small accent graphic. Please note that this is allowable only in combination with other visual and verbal representations of the product. EXAMPLE: sell sheet front panel CIRCULAR DIE-CUT VERSION REPELS WATER In applications that utilize a circular die-cut, such as performance tags, it is permissible to use the product icon shape and name inside a larger outlined circle. Please note that this is allowable ONLY in this very specific circumstance. EXAMPLE: Performance hangtag front panel. Note that in performance tags, RESISTS SPILLS becomes REPELS WATER.
ELEMENTS: Photography Compositions 22 NANO-TEX photography is limited to a set of key compositions that portray dynamic individuals interacting with our products. Note that the arrangement and sizing of the photographic elements that comprise these images can be altered slightly to best fit size constraints of varying applications, however an attempt should be made to follow the standard arrangements as closely as possible. The basic elements of these compositions are the product icon shapes in their correct colors, macro shots of relevant fabric textures for each of our products, and energetic people who are appropriately dressed in casual clothing that utilizes our products. When adding to the existing set, care should be taken to select people with expressive body language and friendly, open facial expressions. 23 ELEMENTS: Product Schematics 23 A series of product schematics have been developed to graphically explain how NANO-TEX products work. These schematics should be used consistently to ensure understanding of our technology and strengthen our product communication. These guidelines introduce all product schematic versions. All artwork has been specially created for both print and onscreen use. PRODUCT SCHEMATICS Resists Spills Cotton Touch Coolest Comfort Resists Odors Repels & Releases Stains
ELEMENTS: Demonstration Images 24 A series of demonstration images have been created to show the actual benefits of NANO-TEX products in action. Only those products that have visually evident effects should have demonstration images. These images, like the product schematics, should be used consistently to ensure understanding of our technology and strengthen our product communication. These guidelines introduce all demonstration image versions. All artwork has been specially created for both print and onscreen use. DEMONSTRATION IMAGES Resists Spills Coolest Comfort Repels & Releases Stains
ELEMENTS: Symbol as a Super Graphic 25 The symbol within the NANO-TEX identity can be utilized as a super graphic in either individual or pattern form. Since this element is the most graphically recognizable aspect of our brand, it can easily add character to a multitude of applications. Please feel free to experiment with new patterns: the only requirement is that configuration of the symbol itself is not altered. The NANO-TEX symbol has been specially created for both print and onscreen use. Always use the NANO-TEX symbol in accordance with these guidelines. SINGLE SUPER GRAPHIC SYMBOL SUPER GRAPHIC PATTERN AND PATTERN SHAPE SINGLE SUPER GRAPHIC SYMBOL USED AS A HEADLINE EXAMPLE: Corporate folder front panel EXAMPLE: Corporate folder interior panels EXAMPLE: Corporate brochure spread EXAMPLE: Sell sheet front panel
ELEMENTS: Circles as Graphic Elements 26 Because the symbol within the NANO-TEX identity is comprised of circles, the visual language of circles can also be utilized in applications. Experiment with the use of circles as a pattern, die-cut shape, or background element. EXAMPLE: Corporate brochure spreads EXAMPLE: Performance hang-tag Please note that when using a circle pattern in conjunction with the super graphic, the size of the circles should be much smaller, allowing the super graphic to have primary prominence.
