3 Coil Innovation Air-Core Reactors 50Hz Solutions, through Coil Innovation, is able to supply the complete range of air-core reactor products. Coil Innovation specialises in the design and manufacture of air-core dry-type reactors for transmission and distribution networks. Air-Core Reactors Air-core reactors are essentially a wound inductance utilising one or more windings in parallel. Insulated aluminium solid conductors or stranded cables are used, with the final coil being impregnated with epoxy resin and painted to provide the finished reactor. Depending on the application, air-core reactors can be supplied in stacked, side-by-side or triangular arrangements. The finished coils are mounted on station post insulators and (where necessary) additional steel structures. Air-core dry type reactors do not utilise an oil insulation system or an iron core. They are environmentally friendly and do not provide any fire hazard. They are essentially maintenance free. Applications Air-core reactors have a number of key applications in transmission and distribution networks: n Fault current limiting reactors n Load flow control / line balancing reactors n Inrush current limiting for capacitor banks reactors n Neutral earthing reactors n Harmonic filters reactors n Shunt reactors n Static VAR compensation reactors n DC smoothing reactors n Electric arc furnaces reactors n Line traps for PLC Coil Manufacturing Air-core reactor windings are manufactured either with one single layer or several layers in parallel. Rectangular aluminium solid conductors or stranded cables are used; these are insulated with high performance film insulation and woven tape. The windings are arranged radially with fibre-glass spacers that provide vertical ducts for convection cooling of the windings. Windings are completed by impregnating with epoxy resin to provide superior electrical properties and high resistance to weathering. All surfaces are finished by painting if necessary with UV resistant paint. In areas of heavy pollution, an additional silicone coating can be applied to eliminate the risk of surface tracking. Innovation in Coil Winding Technology Unlike traditional reactor manufacturing, Coil Innovation uses a winding method whereby the length of each winding layer is continuously monitored to allow fine adjustment of conductor dimensions. This results in extremely fine tolerance of the inductance; hence optimum current and temperature distribution within the individual parallel winding layers. This manufacturing precision ensures the longest life and design performance of the reactor. Low Noise Reactor Innovation The ever growing demand for electrical equipment with extremely low sound levels has prompted the development of very low noise reactors. Coil Innovations patented sound mitigation technology allows ultra low noise designs to be manufactured. 4 MGC Moser Glaser RIP Bushings and Duresca Busbar 50Hz Solutions, through the Swiss company MGC Moser Glaser, supplies a range of products utilising their DURESCA resin impregnated paper (RIP) technology. MGC s product range includes custom designed insulated busbar, wall bushings, transformer bushings and custom designed bushings for special application such as retrofits. Resin Impregnated Paper (RIP) Technology Moser Glaser (MGC) invented the resin impregnated paper (RIP) technology in 1958 a process that is designed to insulate electrical conductors for bushings and busbars for HV and MV applications. The insulation lies directly on the aluminium or copper conductor and consists of wrapped paper dried under vacuum and impregnated with epoxy resin. Conductive grading layers are embedded in the insulation during the wrapping process to provide field control. The RIP technology provides an oil free/dry type bushing that can be created in short lengths for transformer and wall bushing applications, or up to 10m lengths for busbar systems. Transformer Bushings MGC is growing rapidly as a manufacturer of RIP condenser transformer bushings using directly bonded silicon rubber insulators with no filler between the bushing body and insulator. Bushings are available from 24kV up to 300kV rated voltage and 3150A rated current (soon to 550kV). The transformer bushings use MGC s Travesca RIP technology, ensuring fine grading of the insulating body and silicone rubber insulator for the outdoor (air) portion of the bushing. MGC specialises in like-for-like (retrofit) replacement of transformer bushings to existing transformers; the flange and critical dimensions of the existing bushings can be matched to provide a very cost effective means of extending the life of the transformer. Wall Bushings and Special Purpose Bushings Our range of wall bushings includes indoor-indoor, indoor-outdoor and outdoor-outdoor models for applications from 12kV up to 245kV and 6300A. The wall bushings use MGC s Duresca RIP technology, and for outdoor application include polymer or porcelain insulator sheds. A standard range of wall bushings meeting IEC requirements provides a cost effective solution for most applications. Alternative and custom designed bushings can meet unique site requirements such as specific flange/bolt hole designs, wall thickness considerations, current transformer requirements and terminal palm/pin requirements. We can also supply the current transformers if required. In addition to transformer bushing replacements, MGC can design special and retrofit bushings based on customer supplied specifications and drawings for various applications; for example we have supplied many hundred bushings to replace the old oil-air bushings in bulk oil circuit breakers Duresca Insulated Busbar MGC s RIP technology is also used to manufacture their DURESCA insulated busbar system up to 170kV rated voltage and >10,000A rated current. It is a fully insulated high voltage/high current busbar system that is custom designed for the electrical and mechanical characteristics of the application. The busbar is effectively a long condenser bushing and incorporates a corrugated polyamide or aluminium tube for mechanical and weather protection. The DURESCA busbar fastens directly to wall, floors and ceilings with metallic support structures and can be manufactured in lengths of up to 10 meters. The lengths of each busbar section are defined by site design, transportation limits, site installation constraints and the manufacturing process. Lengths are then joined within connection sleeves which incorporate flexible joints for expansion/measurement tolerances. brochures on bushings and busbar from MGC please visit the 50Hz Solutions website: The key feature of the busbar is its very small bending radii compared to cable (eg. 400mm for 1250A 145kV) which make it perfect for space constrained environments and switchgear interconnections. A full range of terminal palms and switchgear connection types, including air-insulated, plugins, and GIS are available.

5 HSP and Trench Bushings 50Hz Solutions is able to supply a complete range of transformer bushings utilising either oil/paper or resin impregnated paper (RIP) technologies from HSP and Trench. Resin Impregnated Paper (RIP) Bushings from HSP HSP is part of the Trench group of companies and manufactures state of the art resin impregnated paper (RIP) bushings. HSP s range includes bushings from 24kV to 800kV and current ratings up to 6000A. The bushings are dry type (oil free) utilising HSP s resin impregnated paper technology that offer a maintenance free solution. A range of removable or solid conductor bushings with varying CT lengths, flange designs, terminal types and porcelain or polymer insulators are available. Designs for oil-air, oil-cable box, oil-sf6 are in the product range as are those for direct replacement/retrofit for older and competing product designs. Oil/Paper Bushings from Trench Trench manufactures a range of transformer bushings under their COT design type. Bushings are available up to 550kV 3150A and use capacitive fine grade oil/paper insulation technology. The free oil volume within the bushing is minimised to remain as environmentally friendly as possible. The bushings are available in both porcelain or composite insulator designs for the air side. The porcelain is cemented onto the flange whilst the polymer insulator models incorporate a fibreglass tube that is impregnated with epoxy resin. 6 DILO SF6 Gas Handling Equipment 50Hz Solutions is proud to represent DILO Armaturen in Australia. DILO is the world renowned manufacturer of SF6 gas handling equipment including a range of service carts, measuring devices and self closing fittings/hoses. With a global warming potential of 22,200 times that of carbon dioxide, and 70% of emissions taking place during gas handling, having robust work practices and the best equipment is vital to ensure that no SF6 is released to the atmosphere. SF6 Service Carts We are able to supply a wide range of gas handling devices (service carts) for the maintenance of medium/high voltage switchgear, outdoor circuit breakers, GIS switchgear and GIS transformers. A suitable cart can be selected for the required gas volume, cycle time and application. From the mini-series/trolley mounted equipment to the new generation Economy and Mega series service carts, DILO s equipment is designed to manage even the largest SF6 switchgear. Devices available include: Multi-analyser (for measuring SF6 Moisture, Volume % and SO2 content) with integrated gas collection Decomposition product analyser SF6 "sniffer" for leak detection SF6 monitoring/warning device for detecting SF6 leaks in closed rooms. DILO s SF6 multi-analyser provides a complete solution for the measuring of key gas quality parameters with fully integrated gas storage and pump-back. There is no longer a need for a separate gas collection device or cumbersome recovery kit/bag. The R multi-analyser allows the user to determine the three most important parameters (SF6 Moisture, Volume % and SO2 content) with only one gas measurement. An optional HF module is also available. The key benefit of the new device is the fully integrated gas recirculation system. The device collects the measuring gas within its internal storage tank by means of a compressor. After measurement, the stored measuring gas is pumped back automatically into the gas compartment/switchgear (or optionally retained). Most critically, no SF6 gas is released into the atmosphere. 7 RITZ Medium Voltage Instrument Transformers 50Hz Solutions is the exclusive representative of RITZ Instrument Transformers GmbH, supplying a wide range of high quality cast resin current transformers and voltage transformers for both indoor and outdoor applications. With products available from 3.6kV to 72.5kV in a number of form factors applications including traction, substation and metal-clad switchgear can be fully covered. RITZ Instrument Transformers RITZ is an independent manufacturer with over 70 years experience in the manufacture of medium voltage instrument transformers. RITZ Instrument Transformers was formed in 2007 following the consolidation of RITZ Messwandler Hamburg, RITZ Messwandler Dresden, Wandler-und Transformatoren-Werk Wirges (WTW) and Messwandlerbau Bamberg (MWB). The combined company is not to be confused with the former RITZ that manufactured high voltage instrument transformers, which was sold in 2007 to Areva (now Alstom Grid). 8 Pfiffner High Voltage Instrument Transformers Since January 2013, 50Hz Solutions has been the exclusive representative of Pfiffner in Australia. This representation allows 50Hz Solutions to supply instrument transformers at all voltage levels. Pfiffner instrument Transformers Pfiffner is an independent manufacturer with over 80 years experience in the manufacture of high voltage instrument transformers. Their product portfolio includes both oil/paper and SF6 insulated current transformers, voltage transformers (both EMVT and CVT) and combined CT/VTs up to 550kV. Oil/Paper Current and Voltage Transformers Pfiffner manufacture high voltage current and voltage transformers up to 550kV using oil/paper technology. Pfiffner's current and voltage transformers are hermetically sealed. All products have a high level of safety against explosion hazards and meet the latest international standards. They all have aluminum casings and are available with silicone composite or (for oil-paper units) with porcelain insulators. The high voltage current transformers consist of three head types in different sizes and one hairpin type with Viton membrane. All oil-filled head types have metal expansion bellows to withstand higher thermal loads. The CTs can be produced with flat or round primary connectors and can be supplied with either silicon composite or porcelain insulators. SF6 Current and Voltage Transformers Pfiffner Germany was founded in July 2010 to expand the product range of the Pfiffner group to SF6 gas insulated high voltage outdoor instrument transformers from 245kV up to 550kV. Although relatively new, the Pfiffner Germany SF6 instrument transformer factory is already supplying units to a number of countries around Europe. Key staff have extensive histories in SF6 instrument transformer production - including at RITZ and Areva. Pfiffner Germany provides an exciting opportunity for SF6 instrument transformers in Australia - once again providing a source of independent supply other than from the "big three". Capacitive Voltage Transformers Pfiffner manufacture a range of oil/paper insulated capacitive voltage transformers up to 550kV. A resistive/capacitive divider is also available for high precision measurement of voltage and harmonics with no ferroresonance susceptibility. Power Voltage Transformers Pfiffner manufactures power voltage transformers that can provide a 110/240V power supply in oil/paper or SF6 up to 25kVA per phase depending on primary voltage. These units allow for power supplies direct from the high voltage rather than installing a conventional and expensive power transformer. Combined Current / Voltage Transformers Pfiffner's combined instrument transformers (in both oil / paper and SF6 technologies) provide a space saving solution for combined current and voltage measurement. 9 Tridelta Surge Arresters Since January 2013, 50Hz Solutions has been the exclusive representative of Tridelta surge arresters in Australia. Tridelta manufactures a wide range of metal oxide surge arresters for voltages from 1kV to 800kV. This range is complemented by special-purpose arresters and an extensive assortment of accessories. A wide range of porcelain and polymer housings is the basis for the optimum application of the arresters. High Voltage Surge Arresters Tridelta manufactures a wide range of high voltage surge arresters up to 550kV in both silicon and porcelain technologies. Silicon insulator designs utilise one of three design/construction principles: modular, cage or tube. Modular design models have a lightweight woven/wrapped construction and provide a very cost effective option available for up to LDC 3 applications. Cage design models provide a higher strength solution up to LDC 3 and are constructed with FRP rods to reinforce the active part. The very high strength tube design models provide the highest performance arresters up to LDC 5 and are constructed using a fibre reinforced tube between the active part and silicon sheds.. Tridelta have been producing porcelain arresters since Metal oxide varistors with a high energy absorption capacity and an excellent sealing system will ensure a long service life. Medium Voltage Arresters The production of medium-voltage arresters at Tridelta commenced in They are manufactured with a light and cost-effective silicone housing. Tridelta use high-quality in-house manufactured ZnO varistors. The arresters have successfully stood the 5000 hour test. They supply arresters for two different nominal discharge currents - 5kA and 10kA. Medium voltage arresters can be supplied with a number of accessories including: bird caps, integrated earth lead disconnect and various bolt/washer/clamp terminal arrangements. Metal Oxide Varistor (MVO) Manufacture Tridelta have its own ZnO varistor block production in-house. This technology has been developed in conjunction with universities and technical institutes and results in the production of over 1.5 million blocks per year. In 2009, Tridelta Germany purchased AREVA Parafoudres, and now produces medium voltage arresters and ZnO blocks in France. This acquisition has strengthen Tridelta as a quality independent supplier of surge arresters, with the vast bulk of its manufacturing processes and capabilities performed in in-house. Accessories Tridelta have a number of arrester accessories available to evaluate arrester performance and condition: surge counters with and without milliampere meter arrester diagnosis equipment for assessing the 3rd harmonic of the leakage current DC Arresters Tridelta have developed surge arresters for the use in direct voltage (DC) networks with a rated voltage of up to 4.8kV. 10 EMSPEC Disconnectors and Earth Switches 50Hz Solutions is the exclusive agent of EMSPEC in Australia. EMSPEC designs and manufactures high-end quality switching products for transmission and distribution systems, substations, power generation and heavy industry. They specialise in HV and MV disconnectors and earth switches using a range of principles and operating mechanisms. Outdoor High Voltage Disconnectors The key products for substation applications include EMSPEC s high voltage disconnectors and earth switches. A range of models cover voltages from 12kV up to 550kV and include double-break, vertical break, centre-break, semipantograph, side break, rocker type, hook stick and vertical V type operating principles. EMSPEC s design capability and precision manufacturing processes allow for the production of high quality primary contact systems, maintenance free dry lubricant bearings, extruded aluminium current carry parts (no cast materials are used) and high strength hot dip galvanised steel members and frames. Associated Components All of our disconnector and earth switch products can be supplied with galavanised steel structures to either standard or customer specific design requirements. High Current Switches EMSPEC manufactures a range of high current switches primarily for power generation and heavy industry applications. Motor Drive Mechanism EMSPEC products are able to be supplied with either manual and/or motorised drive mechanisms. 11 RITZ Dry Type Transformers 50Hz Solutions, through its partner RITZ Instrument Transformers GmbH, supplies cast resin dry type power transformers up to 36kV 20MVA. Although originally an instrument transformer manufacturer, RITZ has utilised its extensive knowledge of cast resin and technologies acquired over its long history to produce power transformers using glass fibre reinforced and epoxy resin impregnation technology. RITZ Instrument Transformers RITZ is an independent manufacturer with over 70 years experience in the manufacture of instrument transformers and cast resin products. RITZ Instrument Transformers was formed in 2007 following the consolidation of RITZ Messwandler Hamburg, RITZ Messwandler Dresden, Wandler-und Transformatoren-Werk Wirges (WTW) and Messwandlerbau Bamberg (MWB). 12 Unipower Power Quality Measurement 50Hz Solutions, through Unipower AB, is able to supply a range of sophisticated power quality metering solutions. Unipower specialises in the design and manufacture of power quality meters, and the development of powerful and easy to use power quality analysis software for transmission and distribution networks, wind farms and industrial customers. PQ Secure Power Quality Management System The PQ Secure Power Quality Management System consists of software, measure units and communication equipment. The measure units (UP-2210), which are permanently installed at site, collect information on disturbances in the network and transfer this information to a centrally placed database. Communication between the measure units and the centrally placed SQL database is automatically performed by the system via eg. ethernet or a modem. The main functions of the PQ Secure system include: Power quality monitoring Transient monitoring Load monitoring Station control Works simultaneously Automatic analysis Automatic generation of reports It is also possible to integrate the portable Unilyzers into the PQ Secure system. This gives more points for measurement and thus an improved and more complete view of the power quality in the network UP-2110 Power Quality Meter To ensure accuracy in the measurements, each UP-2210 unit is certified in accordance with the measure standard IEC , Class A. This makes the measure data fully reliable and the measure units can therefore be used in reference measurements. The UP-2210 unit works as an advanced power quality meter and at the same time as a fault recorder. All of the power quality parameters can be analysed in accordance with voltage quality standards such as the EN The UP-2210 unit captures both steady state disturbances (harmonics, flicker etc) as well as rapid voltage changes (sag/swell events and fast transients). The PQ Secure system will automatically transfer data from the UP-2210 units to the central database according to a user-specified time schedule. The software will also analyse the measure result and show it as events in an event list or as graphical data. The software also has an automatic report generator that can create reports in accordance with international voltage standards such as EN or can be customized to meet specific customer requirements. Unilyzer 900 Portable Power Quality Meter Its small size together with the IP65 protection and ruggedness makes the Unilyzer 900 an ideal tool for all field measurements. It has no moving parts and has been tested in real, tough environments. The instrument complies with IEC Class A or S for power quality measurements. 15 BVM Systems PQ Sensor 50Hz Solutions, through the UK Company BVM Systems provides the PQ Sensor for use with Capacitor Voltage Transformers (CVTs) to provide an output signal that accurately reflects the harmonic and transient spectrum of the primary voltage. PQ Sensor The unique PQ sensor enables accurate harmonic and power quality measurements to be made using CVTs. It can be used at any voltage level where CVTs are installed It accurately measures frequencies up to the 100th harmonic and faithfully reproduces power system transients up to 1MHz. PQ Sensor provides a standard 63.5V output and is compatible will all commonly used Power Quality Meters, Fault Recorders and Power System recorders. The device allows CVTs to be used for accurate measurement of low frequency phenomena including ferroresonance and sub synchronous resonance. PQ sensor can be retrofitted to existing installed CVTs and can be supplied factory fitted by CVT manufacturers including Pfiffner Instrument Transformers. The device has no impact on the normal operation and measurement capabilities of the CVT. One PQ Sensor is installed on each single phase CVT. The PQ Sensor consists of two components - a Measurement Unit that is installed in the secondary terminal box of each CVT and a Signal Conditioning Module (SCM) that is mounted on the structure of the CVT. The SCM is connected to the measurement unit housed in the secondary terminal box using a special cable that is supplied with the PQ Sensor. An optional sunshade for the SCM can be provided for extra protection against the elements. Applications have included power quality recording, fault and disturbance recording and monitoring of high speed transients on transmission systems.
