1 Volume 28, Issue 3 The May 21st Meeting is at the Douglas County Highlands Ranch Library May/Jun 2017 Vintage Voltage Photographs and Results Neil Gallensky, What is Spycraft? 2 The month of May is here: spring has sprung, and we look back again on a memorable Spring Annual Show and Competition. Great radios and displays abounded, and the interaction of the club members with the Vintage Voltage attendees was great exposure for our club. There were many fine radios and displays that you all brought. I was impressed. But I was truly impressed by the Purple Ribbon winners. These are perfect examples of outstanding efforts in restoration, display construction, unique radios and equipment. Great work guys! Truly museum quality stuff! Best Of Show AND Most Educational went to Neil Gallensky for the Spycraft Educational Display Best Restoration to Larry Snyder for the Zenith 6-S-229 from 1937 People s Choice to Tom Pouliot for the Hartley Oscillator w/amplifier from 1929 The Vintage Voltage event s promoter, Dana Cain, has indicated that she is considering moving the event to a larger venue next year. It might be the Great Hall at the CU Wildlife Experience building near I-25 and Lincoln. So, as a club we should start discussing the implications of that possible move now. Our last meeting was another memorable meeting with a huge pile of raffle items and some great show and tells. We had a special guest, Peter (Klaus) Malsch, do an outstanding presentation of a complete working Command Set System (SCR-274) consisting of HF/VHV Receivers and Transmitters. A very rare and unique set of hardware went along with this very fine presentation. For our upcoming meeting, do a little spring cleaning and bring some of your unwanted, un-needed or no room to keep it stuff to the raffle, and bring some show-and-tells to share with us on what you have been working on. Message from the President Also at the meeting, Merrill presented to me the Club s Certificate of Appreciation along with a cool blue personalized coffee mug. I truly appreciate this recognition. I am packing up and moving soon. The club has been a most enjoyable experience for me that has continually changed and broadened, especially after I volunteered to be your president. I will genuinely miss your camaraderie and great depth of knowledge about radios that you continually share. So, when I start to unpack all my radios and electronics workbench stuff at the other end, I will sip some coffee out of my new blue CRC mug, and think of you folks and remember that with change comes opportunity. I look forward to finding some intriguing radios to restore, along with seeing so many other new horizons on my path forward. I wish you all the best. The May 21st, 2016 meeting will be at the Douglas County Highlands Ranch Branch Library in meeting room Shea B.
