2 The Boom Handling Boat (BHB) System P03110 consists of a 30-foot boom handling boat with: 3500 pounds of bollard pull, a VHF marine radio, a VHF 50-watt wide band radio, a CB radio, a radar/chart plotter, a 4-leg lifting sling, a tool box, and onboard spares for operator maintenance. The boat is heated and air conditioned. The boat has an integral, engine driven 3000-psi/25-gpm hydraulic power unit (HPU) that powers the 1500-pound pull capstan located at the after end of the well deck. The HPU can also be used to power ancillary equipment such as pumps and blowers. The system includes a trailer for over the road transport and the boat is designed to sit on its own bottom for aircraft, tractor trailer transport and well deck operations in amphibious ships. Forklift pockets in the side of the hull enable the boat to be handled with a 30,000-pound forklift with 8 tines. The BHB is an all welded aluminum hull with heavily reinforced bottom, chine plating, and bow pusher knees. A single six cylinder 450-hp Fiat Power Train (FPT) turbocharged diesel engine powers a single UltraJet waterjet propulsion unit through a ZF transmission. The onboard 3000-psi HPU is directly driven through the Power Take-Off (PTO) on the transmission. Hydraulic power is actuated via a flow control valve located in the well deck. With 3500 pounds of bollard pull, pusher knees, and the capability to run at speeds of up 30 knots, the Boom Handling Boat System P03110 provides a powerful all weather tow boat for containment boom and skimmer systems as well as being well suited for general pollution and salvage operations. 11 ESSM - EB0407 EPIRB, 406 MHZ, W/BRACKET 406 MHZ Epirb EB0407 The EPIRB 406 MHz beacon is a portable emergency beacon that transmits a distress signal to search and rescue (SAR) organizations. The purpose of the beacon is to aid SAR teams in tracking and locating ships or individuals in jeopardy as rapidly as possible. All EPIRB 406 MHz beacons transmit a Unique Identifier Number (UIN) when activated. When a EPIRB 406 MHz beacon is activated, the digital distress message is sent to Cospas-Sarsat satellites and, in turn, the distress message is relayed to SAR. The distress message contains important information about the beacon and its owner. Additional information about the beacon is accessed by SAR from the beacon registration database. At the same time the EPIRB 406 MHz signal is activated, a MHz signal is turned on. The MHz signal is used by SAR to home in on the beacon as they approach it. The EPIRB 406 MHz signal is detected by multiple satellites and from that information the location of the beacon can be calculated. All EPIRB 406 MHz beacons are required by law to have its registration updated every two years by the owner.
