Introduction KX165A w/8.33khz Channel Spacing Promotion This Sales Bulletin provides our Authorized Dealers with a KX165A discounted price and a trade-in value for operators required to meet the EASA 8.33 khz. Description Simplicity, reliability and capability are key characteristics of the KX 165A Nav/Comm. These highquality, time-tested systems make stay ahead frequency pre-planning effortless. With such features as programmable Comm channels, GPS QuickTune, multiple operating modes, remote channel increment with flip-flop tuning and a built-in timer, the KX 165A match a sophisticated appearance with advanced capabilities. For European operators that must comply with the 8.33 khz channel spacing mandate by January 1, 2018, the panel mounted KX165A-02 Nav/Com meets the ICAO EUR Region's 8.33 khz and 25 khz radio channel spacing requirements. The KX 165A provides a simple, intuitive user interface. For tuning, the inner concentric frequency select knob changes the khz portion of the standby display. It allows selection of 25 khz frequencies only when the knob is pushed in and both 8.33 khz and 25 khz frequencies when the knob is pulled out. The frequency wrap around at the edge of the band is also utilized when incrementing or decrementing the khz portion of the standby display. While the traditional ACTIVE and STANDBY tuning is provided by the KX 165A, you can also tune the active Comm frequency using the Direct Tune feature. Direct Tune is accessed by holding the Comm Transfer button for 2 seconds, adding to pilot flexibility. There are 32 easily accessible programmable Comm and Nav channels to store your favorite or most used frequencies. The KX 165A also includes VOR/LOC/Glideslope receivers and an active CDI display with additional Bearing To and Radial From Modes adding additional redundancy should primary navigation indicators fail. Additional capabilities include a countdown timer and a blind tuning feature which loads MHz as the active Comm frequency when powering up with the transfer button pressed allowing tuning the radio in the unlikely event of a display failure. An audio leveling feature normalizes the Comm audio to provide a constant audio level to what the pilot hears. Page 2 of 7
