1 Rover 4 Setup These instructions illustrate setting up the Portable Rover 4 system to receive a video feed from the SP aircraft. Complete System Reference Photo (your end goal): 2 1 e 3 d b c a Required Components (everything should be contained in black plastic Storm Case TM ) (similar to large Pelican TM large hardened container): 1. Panasonic Toughbook TM Digital Computer 2. C/L/S Band Antenna 3. Man Pack Rover 4 Receiver 4. Cables a. Man Pack I/O Multipurpose cable (1 plug at one end split into 3 plugs/cables at opposite end) b. AC Power Supply for Toughbook Digital Computer c. RJ45 Ethernet Cable (short adapter with connector that looks slightly wider than a phone cable) d. AC Input Power Cable (PCP81) for Man Pack Receiver Battery Eliminator (ensure you are using the cable with the 3-prong AC end, and not the cigarette lighter end. e. Align the keys, insert the cable straight and level, and tighten the sleeve until it clicks into place. After disconnecting, verify that no pins have been bent.

2 Additional Notes to assist in operations/troubleshooting: Not all cables/components from the case will be used. Cables with cannon plug attachments are keyed so they will only attach when properly aligned, but it is easy to bend the pins. DO NOT FORCE the cable on when tightening. Align the keys, insert the cable straight and level, and tighten the sleeve until it clicks into place. After disconnecting, verify that no pins have been bent. Ensure all equipment/cable cannon plug covers and caps are installed before storing. If you see the no signal LG logo on the large TV Monitor in the JTAC room then you are not receiving a signal at all from the transmitter pod. If the screen is pure black (or static), then you are probably receiving a signal from the SP transmitter pod (just the carrier wave frequency); however, it is without a video feed. Check the aircraft video feed cables between the air computer and the transmitter. The Man Pack has an AC/DC Battery Eliminator Pack mounted to the back of the receiver for external power. In this configuration, P2 (antenna interface) and P3 (GPS Interface) on the Man Pack Multipurpose cable are not used. The SP aircraft must have Transmitter ON and match the settings and frequency on the Rover. When using external ground power for the SP aircraft: o Only use the Enhanced Flight model external power supply: o DO NOT use the BYCAN model power supply on the SP aircraft: 20 Feb 2014, Version 1 Page 2 of 5

Connect Man Pack I/O Multipurpose Cable P1 to J2 on the Man Pack Receiver Connect one end of RJ45 Ethernet Cable Adapter into P4 of Man Pack I/O Multipurpose Cable. After the computer boots, double-click the Rover Shortcut on the desktop and verify (on the Receiver Tab) settings are as desired and match those on the SP aircraft. o Antenna Power should be on and green when using the attached C/L/S antenna. Verify green light is lit underneath the antenna Verify the display cycles through proper receiver settings (and matches SP transmitter): o L Band o Analog o (this example) Double-click (open) the L3 Player shortcut on the desktop to open the video feed player. o This example shows static being received due to the video feed being disconnected from the SP transmitter.
