3 GENERAL DISPLAY/BOOTH SET-UP RULES FOR ALL EXHIBITS Booth Design Issues: 1. All exhibit structures must have self supporting walls exactly 8 high extending the full width and depth of the booth, except where an open corner exists. 2. Booth walls must be neatly finished on all exposed sides. 3. Exhibit structures must be constructed to allow sufficient space for utility service at rear of booth 4 to 6 should be sufficient. 4. All booths must leave a minimum of 50% of exposed sides open for access from aisles. 5. No covered booths are permitted in the show due to fire regulations. 6. Pipe & Drape booths are prohibited exhibitors must supply their own pre-fabricated booth. If fabric walls are used, it must be taut from top to bottom and fire retardant (see fire regulations for further details). 7. No straw or hay is allowed (see fire regulations for your facility for further details). 8. Suitable floor covering including broadloom, tile, carpet, etc. must completely cover the booth s floor space. Raised flooring must be beveled. Product & Display Issues: 1. Product and display, as well as staff conducting sales and/or demonstrations must be within the confines of the booth at all times. No part of the exhibit or any product may extend into the aisle and no booth personnel may be stationed in the aisle, even temporarily, conducting business of any kind. 2. Sampling and demonstration areas must be organized within the exhibitor s space so as not to interfere with aisle traffic. 3. Exhibitors must regulate the sound levels from demonstrations or sound systems within their booth to ensure that noise is kept to a minimum and does not interfere with others. 4. Displays and product must not encroach into the aisle or emergency exit doorways. 5. Where a pillar or other obstruction occurs in (or just outside) a booth space, it may be covered in accordance with height regulations providing it does not interfere with access to hydro, telephone wire, aisle carpeting or fire extinguishers. 3

4 Fire Safety Issues: 1. Exhibit structures must be constructed to allow sufficient space for utility service at rear of booth 4 to 6 should be sufficient to allow for suitable ventilation and air circulation around electrical outlets. 2. If fire protection equipment or exits are located within/behind the exhibit space, the exhibitor shall ensure that direct and unobstructed access to such equipment/exits is available. 3. Areas behind or beside booth structure must be readily accessible from interior of booth if access from side or rear is not possible. Show management reserves the right to, at the exhibitor s expense, dismantle or require the dismantling of any booth to inspect & ensure electrical wiring meets code, remove prohibited materials and/or in case of emergency. 4. Storage of cardboard or other packaging materials behind booth is prohibited. Materials that pose a fire hazard may be removed and discarded upon discovery. 5. All extension cords must be three-wire #16 or #14 gauge with u-ground caps and bodies. The use of small two-wire extension cords is illegal and latex wire cord, duplex and triplex plugs are not allowed. Show management will require the removal of any non-compliant cords from exhibitor booths when identified. 6. No covered booths are permitted in the show due to fire regulations. 7. Live grass/plants may be used for display purposes on two conditions: - They must be planted in earth and kept saturated throughout the show by the exhibitor. Note: Show management will remove and discard any plants that are allowed to dry out within an exhibitor s booth. - The exhibitor must supply a portable, readily accessible fire extinguisher within their booth. See the Fire Regulations and Official Electrical Contractor sections in the Exhibitor Manual for more information. 4

5 Booth Signage & Sign/Product Hanging Issues: 1. All exhibits must have a sign with the registered Canadian Gift Association Member/ Exhibitor Company Name. This CANADIAN GIFT ASSOCIATION MEMBER SIGNAGE must be the largest of all signs in the booth, readily visible and displayed in a prominent location. All other signage displayed (ie: other company names under the parent CanGift member, or that the CanGift member company distributes for, brand names, etc.) must be less prominent than the CanGift member exhibiting company sign. Signage must not exceed height restrictions for the specific booth configuration. See enclosed diagrams for your booth configurations. 2. Signs/banners or product must meet all fire safety standards and comply with Toronto Gift Fair rules & regulations regarding use of acceptable materials. Additionally, these items must be hung by Showtech Power & Lighting in accordance with show height restrictions. IMPORTANT NOTE The International Centre and the Toronto Congress Centre are independently owned facilities; any damages to the walls, ceilings, and floors (ie: incorrect floor tape) will be billed directly back to the exhibitor. 5

6 A. STANDARD IN-LINE BOOTH Exhibit with one or more standard units in a straight line. 8 Maximum Height Height: Exhibit fixtures, components, identification signs and products displayed will be permitted to a maximum height of 8. 6

IN-LINE WALK-THROUGH BOOTH Exhibit comprised of one or more standard booths with two open sides and no corners open sides are directly opposite each other. 8 Maximum 12 Maximum Height For booths with minimum width and depth of 20 : a maximum height of 12 starting 2 out from the sidewalls of the booth structure. Maximum height of 8 is allowed for 2 from the sidewalls. For booths where width and/or depth is less than 20 : a maximum height of 8. 7

PENINSULA BOOTH Exhibit with four or more standard booths back to back with an aisle on three sides. 8 Maximum Height 12 Maximum Height Height For booths with minimum width and depth of 20 : a maximum height of 12 starting 2 out from the back wall of the booth structure. Maximum height of 8 is allowed for 2 from the back wall. For booths where width and/or depth is less than 20 : a maximum height of 8. 8

IRREGULAR PENINSULA BOOTH Exhibit with four or more standard booths back to back with an aisle on three sides booth space is configured in such a way that it has characteristics of the standard peninsula booth as well as an in-line booth. Sample Booth Configuration: 8 Maximum Height 12 Maximum Height Height For portion of booth with minimum width and depth of 20 : a maximum height of 12 starting 2 out from the back wall of the booth structure. Maximum height of 8 is allowed for 2 from the back wall. For in-line portion of booth or where width and/or depth is less than 20 : a maximum height of 8. 9

10 D. IRREGULAR IN-LINE CORNER BOOTH Exhibit with four or more standard booths back to back with an aisle on two sides and a depth of 20 or more. Sample Booth Configuration: 8 Maximum Height 12 Maximum Height Height For booth with minimum width and depth of 20 and a corner location: a maximum height of 12 starting 2 out from the back wall of the booth structure. Maximum height of 8 is allowed for 2 from the back wall. 10

ISLAND BOOTH Exhibit with four or more standard booths back to back with aisles on all four sides. 12 Maximum Height Height For booth with minimum width and depth of 20 : a maximum height of 12 throughout. If hard wall structure is to be used within the booth space, it must be exactly and not exceed 8 in height. 11

PERIMETER BOOTH Exhibit with two or more standard booths located on the outer perimeter and/or wall of the exhibit floor. 8 Maximum Height 12 Maximum Height Height: For booths with minimum width of 20 : a maximum height of 12 along the back wall and starting 2 out from the side walls of booth structure. Maximum height of 8 is allowed for 2 within any sidewall. 12
