2 The Stark Museum of Art in Orange, Texas, houses one of the nation s most significant collections of American Western art. The collection focuses on the stunning land, dramatic people, and diverse wildlife of the American West. The Museum also holds a significant collection of American Indian art as well as collections of glass and porcelain, and rare books and manuscripts.

3 E XHIBITIONS The Stark Museum of Art presents special changing exhibitions to explore themes in greater depth and with new approaches. E DUCATIONAL PROGRAMS The Stark Museum of Art provides educational resources and programs for the general public and for students, teachers, and researchers. It invites families to explore the Museum with their children and discover interactive activities. M USEUM STORE The Museum Store furthers the Museum s educational outreach goals by offering products related to the collections and exhibitions. Located inside the Museum, the Store sells books, posters, note cards, and gifts that coordinate with special exhibitions.

4 W ESTERN A RT The Western Art collection conveys the artistic interpretation of the western region over two centuries. It spans the explorations of the nineteenth century to the artistic colonies of the twentieth century. Among the many artists represented are Albert Bierstadt, Frederic Remington, Charles Marion Russell, and Georgia O Keeffe. 5 D ECORATIVE A RTS The Decorative Arts collection features natural and historical themes in glass and porcelain. Highlights include the only complete set of The United States in Crystal from Steuben Glass, as well as the entire series of porcelain birds by Dorothy Doughty. Treasures include letters and manuscript journals by artists such as John James Audubon, Paul Kane, and Charles Marion Russell. The collection also holds first-edition publications on natural history, such as Audubon s personal copy of The Birds of America. It includes examples of Plains clothing, body ornaments, beadwork, baskets, pottery, kachina carvings, and Navajo rugs and blankets. For the Stark Museum of Art, take I-10 and exit 877 from either direction. Follow the feeder road. Turn right (south) on 16th Street (Hwy 87). Travel 1.9 miles on 16th Street to the Green Avenue intersection. Turn left (east) on Green Avenue and travel 0.7 miles to the Stark Museum of Art.
