1 Art History One(SS): FINAL REVIEW Just like your midterm, there will be three parts: PART ONE: Vocabulary (2 points each, 40 points total) This is the list of possible vocabulary words, I will give you the definition and you will give me the correct word from a word bank: Roman Arch Barrel Vault Aerial Perspective Encaustic Tempera Synagogue Longitudinal plan Building Central plan Building Manuscript Icon Iconoclasm Calligraphy Axis Mundi Stupa Mudra Bodhisattva Mandala Pagoda Westwork Perspective PART TWO: Facts about Art (1 point for each description, 28 points total) 7 art works These are the possible art works you will be asked about, give me four FACTS about the work that we have discussed in class. PLEASE be descriptive, give me concrete facts, not things you are trying to pass off as facts because you are looking at this for the first time. For example, if I give you a photo of the pyramids of Egypt, don t tell me that they are pyramids, I just told you that. I will count it as wrong. THE FIRST fact you should give me is what kind of art it is, meaning PAINTING, ARCHITECTURE, SCULPTURE, etc. ANOTHER fact you could give is what culture it s from. If you are having trouble, look back at the vocabulary section, can you use one of these words to describe the art work? If you do, please elaborate; don t just give me one word answers!
2 PART THREE: Comparisons (2 points per fact, 30 points total) 5 pairs of art works Give me THREE compare/contrast statements about the two artworks for each section. As in the last section, please give me things we have discussed in class. You should tell me in your FIRST statement which cultures the two works are from.
