TOMMY PAYNE

SOLUTION The concept for One Spoke Loose arose from my love of bike riding around North Fitzroy where I live. During the game each player builds their own bicycle from laser cut bike parts. CHALLENGE Design a board game based on a theme of your choice

SOLUTION CHALLENGE Develop the brand identity and design the packaging for three related products to be sold in design stores and museum shops The Sensory 1/5 Company is a fictitious entity that produces memory boosters through sight, sound and smell. The design references vintage medicine packaging, sampling typography from the 1940s and 50s. The customer experiences a trip down memory lane.

SOLUTION The blossoms which are prevalent around Melbourne during spring time were my inspiration for this campaign. Utilising soft tones and overlaying multiple images I attempted to capture the essence of Spring. CHALLENGE Design a look-book, swing tag, press advertisement and point of sale display for an existing fashion brand

Spring Fever KAREN WALKER

CHALLENGE Create a brand and design the packaging for six baked goods to be sold in a gourmet deli, cafe or bakery SOLUTION The word Maisonette refers to a set of rooms and is diminutive of maison, house. The box is designed in such a way that each macaron is protected from potential damage during transport and requires no glue for assembly.

CHALLENGE Design a large format poster and one other promotional item for the Melbourne International Arts Festival

SOLUTION The Melbourne Arts Festival represents an exchange of artistic ideas between artists and their audience. I chose to capture this interchange by designing a pattern created from water. The water represents the fluid nature of the arts as it can exist in multiple states; solid, liquid and gas.

SOLUTION Paradox is a new stock from Spicers Paper. The sampler explores the conflicting nature of applying ink to paper and the interesting results of this partnership. The design incorporates abstract treatment of imagery and highlights the versatile nature of the product. CHALLENGE Create a paper sampler to showcase a new stock produced by Spicers Paper.

PARADOX IS A SMOOTH UNCOATED PAPER WITH HIGHER INK HOLD-OUT AND SUPERIOR DOT RESULT THAN TRADITIONAL THE DENSE SURFACE OF SMOOTH UNCOATED PAPERS CAN REDUCE INK ABSORBENCY, MEANING THAT THE SOLVENTS AND BINDERS IN THE INK MIGRATE MORE SLOWLY INTO THE PAPER AND THE DRYING 100 gsm 110 gsm 180 gsm 220 gsm 300 gsm PARAD X DEFINITION. THIS PRODUCES A BRIGHTER, SHARPER PRINTING MACHINE FINISHED OFFSETS. RIDDLE MYSTERY ENIGMA CONUNDRUM ANOMALY SHEET SIZES mm 320 x x x x x 450 PROCESS IS SLOWED. REAM WRAPPED BULK WRAPPED A PRINTING GUIDE FOR PARADOX IS AVAILABLE ON REQUEST. * italic dimension indicates usual grain direction

CHALLENGE Create the brand identity, stationery and style guide for contemporary art space Atelier Projects SOLUTION Atelier Projects is an avant-garde enterprise whose identity had to reflect a clean, unembellished aesthetic. The layered elements of the logo reflects the display of art on the gallery walls over time.

Minimum Size To protect the integrity of the design, the mark may be reduced to no smaller than the displayed size mm Clear Space Guidelines = height of the rounded letter R The minimum clear space is represented as the dimensional height of the letter X taken from the width of the rounded letter R. No other design elements are to enter this clear space grid. AT E L I E R P R O J E C T S M i n i m u m l o g o s i ze & C l e a r S p a ce mm 08 Photography The Atelier Projects photographic style is evolutionary. It directly correlates to the type of artwork displayed in the gallery and any promotional material showing photography is an extension of the artworks on display. The gallery is only a vehicle for spreading the artist s message. The artworks vary from light installations, sculpture, illustration, painting, print making, electronic media, ceramics, and photography; virtually anything that a single artist or group show may present. The style in which these artworks are captured should be congruent with the artist s style. Variations of tight close-ups and wideangled imagery may be used to highlight certain textures and features that signify the wide array of contemporary art on display. AT E L I E R P R O J E C T S P h o to g r a p h y 10

CHALLENGE Design the annual report for contemporary art space Atelier Projects and choose a theme to communicate the brand identity. SOLUTION The annual report for Atelier Projects communicates two points of perception. The first from the individual s point of view and the second from the outside world. I created imagery by compressing hand drawn type into spaces around a faceless viewer in order to build upon the layered nature of the brand identity.
