Any item purchased for class will receive a 15% discount. Important G Please let me know if you intend to use a Digital Cutter to cut out the appliqué letters. I will transfer the SVG files to y our USB stick. This must be done before the 2 nd class. G Please let me know if you do not own a Digital Cutter and I will transfer to a USB stick the PDF files that you can use to print the letters on the EZ Print Lite on your inkjet printer. G Appliqué - 50wt cotton quilting thread or 40wt embroidery in colors to match letter fabrics. (See Fabric Requirements at the end of this document) G Black 50wt cotton quilting thread or 40wt embroidery thread. G 80/12 Microtex needle. G 90/14 quilting needle. Basic Rotary Cutting Supplies G Rotary Mat - medium size 24" widest measurement. G Rotary cutter G Rulers: 6.5" x 24" and a square ruler 12.5" or larger. 3 Purchasing Fabric for Your Wall Hangings Please purchase your fabric at a quilt fabric store. If you are going to put time and effort into a project, you will appreciate quality fabric. Minding My Ps & Qs in Denton Material Girl in Denton Quilt Country in Lewisville Fabric Requirements Use the requirements listed here - not the ones listed on the pattern. Black Fabric for backing and binding - 1½ yard. (We have this in stock.) Pellon fusible fleece - 1½ yard (we have this in stock.) Six assorted black on white fat quarters (the fabric should be more white than black) - for the center pieced rectangle. One fat quarter white on black (this fabric should be more black than white) - for middle border. One fat quarter small print multi color fabric for inner border - should have at least four colors. Select four colors from the multi color fabric and purchase one fat quarter in each of the four colors. - outer border and letters.. 3

4 To Do Before Class Starch and Press Fabric I highly recommend starching any quilt fabric before cutting. Up until recently, I ve used diluted concentrated spray starch. But that was before I used Best Press - a clear starch alternative. I m completely convinced that this is the perfect product for starching quilt fabric. Cut from Six Assorted Black on White Fat Quarters. From each fabric, cut one 6.5" strip the width of fabric. From each 6.5" strip, subcut 5 pieces 3.5" wide. Subcut Background Strips Cut Multi Color Fabric for Inner Border Cut nine 1½" strips the width of fabric. These strips will be used in all three hangings. We will cut them to exact length in class. Cut White on Black Fabric for Middle Border Cut nine 1c " strips the width of fabric. These strips will be used in all three hangings. We will cut them to exact size in class. 4

5 Cut Colored Fabrics for Wall Hangings You have four colored fabrics you purchased based on the multi color fabric for the outer border strips. From three of these colored fabrics, you will cut border strips and a rectangle of fabric for letters. From the remaining fabric, you will cut a rectangle for letters. From Three of the Four Colored Fabrics 1. Cut four 2" strips the width of fabric. 2. From the remaining fabric, cut one 12" x 9" rectangle for the appliqué letters. Cut from three of the four fabrics based on the multi color border fabric. From the Remaining Colored Fabric 1. Cut one 12" x 9" rectangle for appliqué letters. Bring all of the fabric including scraps to class. 5
