2 Dangly Springtime Bunny - 2! of 6! Welcome Spring with this adorable bunny! Skills and construction: Dangly Springtime Bunny is knit in sections using double pointed needles. The body and head are worked in the round from an easy-tofollow table, while the arms and long dangly legs are based on an icord, with simple shaping to form the paws. Once the bunny has been sewn together, a cute bow and luxurious alpaca pompom add the perfect finishing touches. Sizes and gauge: the same instructions can be used for different sized bunnies by substituting yarn and needles. To keep the stuffing hidden, a tighter gauge than normally suggested for the yarn should be used, especially if your knitting is loose. The samples sizes pictured are as follows: SMALL = approx.12 cm high, excluding legs. MEDIUM = approx. 21 cm high, excluding legs. Materials: available at - a shopping list with direct links to the products used is on page 6. SMALL: 50g Bergere de France Lima in 'Steppe' (110m) and 3mm double pointed needles (DPNs) MEDIUM: 50g Rowan Felted Tweed Aran in 'Pebble' (87m) and 4.5mm DPNs FOR ALL SIZES: Toft pom pom in cream Locking stitch markers (or non-snag safety pins) Dark yarn or embroidery thread for sewing the face Toy stuffing Small quantity of scrap yarn for the bow ABBREVIATIONS USED kfb k2tog ssk Knit into the front and back of the stitch (to increase) Knit two stitches together (right slanting decrease) Slip one st (as if to knit), slip the next st, then insert the left needle into to front of both stitches and knit them together (left slanting decrease) BODY HEAD Where the instructions differ, follow the relevant column, otherwise they are the same for both pieces. Where measurements are different for the small and medium sizes, brackets are used. 1. Cast on 3 sts 2. Kfb all sts, while splitting equally onto three DPNs = 6 sts 3. Knit one round 4. Kfb all sts = 12 sts 5. Knit one round 6. (Kfb, k to last st on the DPN, kfb) three times = 18 sts 7. Knit one round

Continue to increase alternate rounds in this way until there are 10 sts on each needle, finishing after a knit round = 30 sts 9. Mark the "front" of the work by placing a stitch marker on the next side to be worked 10. Knit seven rounds 10. Knit three rounds 11. K14, k2tog, k10, ssk, k2tog, k10, ssk = 38 sts 11. K10, k2tog, k6, ssk, k2tog, k6, ssk = 26 sts 12. Knit two rounds 12. Knit one round 13. K3, ssk, k4, k2tog, k13, k2tog, ssk, k10 = 34 sts 13. K1, ssk, k4, k2tog, k7, k2tog, ssk, k6 = 22 sts 14. Knit one round 15. K2, ssk, k4, k2tog, k to end of round = 32 sts 15. K1, ssk, k2, k2tog, k to end of round = 20 sts 16. Knit one round 17. K14, k2tog, k10, ssk, k4 = 30 sts 17. K11, k2tog, ssk, k5 = 18 sts 18. Knit one round 19. K2, ssk, k2, k2tog, k10, k2tog, ssk, k8 = 26 sts 19. (Ssk, k2, k2tog) three times = 12 sts 20. Knit one round 20. Fill with plenty of stuffing, to accentuate the shape 21. K15, k2tog, ssk, k7 = 24 sts 21. (Ssk,k2tog) three times = 6 sts 22. Knit one round Leaving at least 15cm tail, cut yarn and thread through remaining sts then pull tight and sew closed. 23. K3, ssk, k3, (k1, k2tog three times, k1) twice = 17 sts 24. Place a lockable marker through the middle stitch of the last two DPNs, to help with arm placement, then knit one round 25. Ssk, k3, k2tog, k10 = 15 sts 26. Add the stuffing. Use plenty of filling to accentuate shaping 27. Knit one round 28. (Ssk, k1, k2tog) three times = 9 sts Leaving at least 15cm tail, cut the yarn and thread through remaining sts then pull tight and sew closed.

4 Dangly Springtime Bunny -! 4 of 6! Arms: make two 1. Leaving a long tail (for sewing up) cast on 6 sts 2. Knit an icord** for at least 6 cm (10 cm) 3. Split the stitches over two DPNs to knit in the round 4. (Kfb, k1, kfb) twice = 10 sts 5. (Kfb, k3, kfb) twice = 14 sts 6. Knit six rounds 7. (Ssk, k3, k2tog) twice = 10 sts 8. Before going any further, it's time to fill the paw! 9. (Ssk, k1, k2tog) twice = 6 sts 10. Cut yarn leaving a long tail, and draw the end through the remaining sts to close **HOW TO KNIT AN ICORD: Cast on the specified number of stitches and knit one row. At the end of the row DO NOT turn the work, simply push the stitches to the right end of the DPN they are on, and knit the stitches again! A photo tutorial can be found at TIP: pull the yarn tightly to the first stitch of each row. Ears: make two 1. Cast on 13 sts, leaving a tail of 20 cm for sewing up 2. Knit in st st for four rows, then continue as follows, purling all WS rows 3. (RS) k2, ssk, k5, k2tog, k2 = 11sts 4. (RS) k1, ssk, k5, k2tog, k1 = 9 sts 5. (RS) Ssk, k to last 2 sts, k2tog = 7 sts 6. (RS) repeat the last row twice more until there are 3 sts 7. (RS) k2tog then bind off last st, and sew in the yarn end, ensuring to keep the point on the ear tip Legs: make two - the legs are designed to be long, but you can make them any length you like! 1. Split the remaining yarn into two equal balls, and use one for each leg 2. Cast on 10 sts using a simple sock cast on*** (5 sts on each needle) and join to knit in the round 3. K10 4. Kfb, k3, kfb, k to end = 12 sts 5. Knit five rounds 6. K1, k2tog, k1, ssk, k to end = 10 sts 7. K6, kfb, k1, kfb, k1= 12 sts 8. K7, kfb, k1, kfb, k2 = 14 sts 9. K5, k2tog, k5, ssk = 12 sts 10. K5, k2tog, k3, ssk = 10 sts 11. To shape the heel, turn to work back across the needle, p5 then turn to work the same stitches once more 12. K2tog, k1, ssk = 8 sts 13. Stuff foot and heel into shape then continue by working in the round 14. K2tog, k1, ssk, k to end = 6 sts 15. Knit three rounds 16. Either continue to knit in the round, OR slip all sts onto one needle and continue to knit an icord until the measurement from toe to top of icord is at least 13 cm (20 cm) long, or until you're almost out of yarn 17. Bind off 18. There may be small gaps at the ankle (where the rows were worked back and forth), close these with a few stitches while sewing in the yarn end *** SIMPLE SOCK CAST ON: Cast on 10 stitches onto one DPN and then hold it in your left hand. Hold two empty DPNs parallel to one another in your right hand, then slip the first st onto the needle closest to you (as if to purl) and the second st onto the needle furthest from you, (as if to purl). Repeat until all stitches are divided equally, and alternately onto the two needles.

Sewing up: with RS facing, fold the sides of the ears towards the centre until the edges meet and secure together with a few stitches, then squeeze the sides (pictured) to form a crease in the middle of the ear which will help it to stand up. Stitch both ears to the head using the (decrease) line at the back of the head as the central marker. The ears are designed to naturally fold over at the top, but will stand tall if adjusted. Sew the head onto the body. The decreases at the back of the two parts will help to line them up perfectly, or you can sew slightly off-centre - try a few positions before you stitch! With the head in place, attach the arms using the markers as a guide. Using the thread already attached to the pompom, sew it to the back of the bunny, in the space between the decrease sections (pictured). You may need to secure across the bunny's bottom with some extra thread. The legs are proportionately long as they are designed to dangle from the edge of a shelf, but they can also be posed in various different ways (to enhance cuteness) and will help your bunny to sit securely on uneven surfaces. Sew the legs either side of the central V section at the bottom of the tummy (pictured). Sew on eyes, nose and mouth, using thread or scrap yarn. Use pins or tacking stitches to try different positions before sewing as the placement can make a big difference to your bunny's character. Add any ribbon or embellishments. Bow: With scrap yarn, cast on 8 sts then knit a garter st rectangle for 4.5 cm, before binding off and sewing in ends. Cut a long piece of yarn and wrap it tightly around the middle of your knitted rectangle to form a bow shape, then secure with a stitch and sew into place on your bunny's head, or if yours is a boy bunny, sew it in place as a bow tie.
